What an utterly horrible thing to say about your sister and brother-in-law. I am done with her now. People are DIFFERENT Meghan. We are not all like you you you you.

It’s utterly loaded - designed to make you all think she’s lovely and warm and approachable, but W&K are cold, uncaring and unfeeling.. classic “show don’t tell” to paint the imaginary picture she wants you all to see.

How the fuck is this a horrible thing to say? It's factual. You don't need to be Einstein to see that William & Kate have been groomed for a life of Royal servitude, and Meghan and Harry haven't. Harry is the Spare, William is the Heir, they are two separate people - there was always going to be an ocean of difference in the way are, and the women they married. William carries not only the weight of ascending to the throne, but also the responsibility of being the oldest - he was never going to be a hugger, he is his father's child, with all that entails.

The clear implication here is that Kate Middleton is a stuck up caaaaaaah, because when they first met she didn't start screaming and flapping her hands and running in for a hug.

The footage of Kate and William dressed for a very formal event accompanying Meghans voice over of that little anecdote was a nice touch

@MavisMcMinty she is part of the royal family and the queen was also her grandmother same as Harry's ? So they would of met the queen etc for first time , attended family events etc
Harry is not up high in line either now and always will likely go further down etc
Its the same family and same protocols ?

The Crown is a piece of fiction, I wouldn’t rely on it as a source or reference.
There are some small family protocols on first greeting within the RF, thereafter they are ordinary people who do what everybody else does.

I am a hugger, a bear hug-hugger.
As much as that is, I am also typically polite & restrained on first meeting someone socially &/ or professionally. I wouldn’t hug someone I barely knew - even if soon to be related by marriage - without asking. A first meeting of kindred spirits would have ‘OK for a hug?’

It is a lazy stereotype that the English/British are cold, distant & uptight.

I’ve seen many public informal photos of William & Catherine larking about & hugging with their own children & other royal rugrats, also being warm, friendly & hugging children & vulnerable adults while on royal duties.

So on balance, the inferred comments that William & Catherine are uncomfortable hugging & formal both front & back of house are insubstantial , & given past variable recollections & with ‘so much at stake’ this is an early dig & mud slinging from MM at W&C

Throw in some NF editorial flourishes & voila!

Fact: Nobody has said Meghan hugged Kate and William. Maybe she asked and they said no.

Well you have some idea of language because the person behind the screen is using it to communicate. Presumably you do understand basic English, even if some of the subtext is lost.

I really liked M&H in the early days before they became 'moaners' and before I heard Meghan said that she didn't know who Harry was when she went on a date with him (ahem, she was someone who was an influencer, or tried to be, early on with her website and she did not do any research, like everyone would do in this instance - come on!).

So, although mentioning the difference is not per se an issue, the fact she was naming them is very insensitive. Lots of my friends (I live in London) would not hug when meeting the first time, not just a RF thing. And if I met my in-laws for the first time, I'd make more of an effort especially when we're talking the RF. Yes, Harry should have briefed her but she's intelligent and I'm sure she knew or could have found out very easily what the protocol is. Just like when you join a new company, you ask what the done thing is.

I'm annoyed they get so much media attention (which is what they want now), but then I'm contributing to it with this comment. Go away M&H!

Exactly my reading of it. Oh, I'm so warm, friendly, approachable, but look at these cold unfeeling reserved people who have to bow and curtsey to each other (which is rubbish anyway - to the monarch, yes, but not all and sundry).

Nothing that Meghan says hasn't been carefully crafted to conjure an image. It may seem like a throwaway comment, but there isn't a word, a look, a picture which hasn't been precisely choreographed.

For those saying why are people commenting on such an insignificant thing, it reads, along with everything else, of denigrating individuals in a disingenuous manner. What she said seemed incongruous, but taken along with everything else it's just one more snipe.

This is common from certain posters on the Royal Family board who defend Kate and William and hate Meghan and Harry no matter what. I post links showing what they are saying is untrue, and ten minutes later they are saying the same again. They are not interested in the truth.
