Remember this was not meeting the Queen, just Harry's brother William visiting them and his wife Kate.
In that kind of set up I would not expect any expectations. Most houses are shoes off anyway. And why would traditions matter if they are popping round for a cup of coffee?

Context is everything. They have made a documentary to criticise royal family and then go on talking about W+K not being hugger like her. By not hugging her or not wearing informal clothes, they didnt cause her any mental harm. Why keep talking about them?

And did she not know about royal family being formal before? In today's day and age, anyone would do a simple google out of curosity on their new date, but Meghan did not. She never heard of Diana.

Maybe W+K would have become closer eventually, maybe not. Maybe they are just a practical couple with 0 emotions but as long as they are not causing any mental or physical harm, let them be the way they are.

Harry is worse than Meghan. He knew about RF, he did not have to stay with RF after wedding. And Meghan should have realistic expectations. Did she expect Kate to arrive in ripped jeans? What dont they talk of real issues? Who made racist comments? Who were the members who didn't like her being American actress? But they are naming his brother and wife for an offence which is no offence.

This sounds like another situation where either Harry has failed to inform his partner of expectations/that his family aren't up for hugs, or it's a selective spin on a situation for the purpose of getting sympathy.

More broadly, if Meghan really was caught off guard that an archaic institution has it's own protocols and she'd have to follow them like every other person in the firm, then I think Harry has done her a great disservice and it's a shame she isn't being more vocal about how her husband didn't adequately warn her what she was getting into.
