It's landed - 3 episodes with what I assume is 3 next week.

OP posts:
EsmaCannonball · 10/12/2022 15:47

I haven't watched the documentary so can somebody explain this bit for me? The proposal story has changed from in the kitchen while cooking to an outdoor nighttime picnic. Outdoors at night in November and Harry is wearing a long-sleeved top with the sleeves rolled up and Meghan just happens to be filming at that moment? Were they entirely surrounded by industrial patio-heaters or did the proposal take place elsewhere and they re-staged it to make it look more romantic in the footage of their future reality show? Might explain the discrepancy some people are claiming over the dates and the dog's broken legs. (The one rescue dog she didn't ditch for a rich husband. There is no way I would ever abandon my dog just to get my hands on a man. Not even if that man was Jamie Dornan with £50 notes stuck all over him.)

No one can possibly know what the overall feeling about H&M is. Or how many support or how many don't. No one can authoratively state that only haters leave reviews. The sussexes' supporters are very vocal online and on SM.
Their popularity will only be judged over time.

They haven't even described themselves leaving yet, with them struggling through the snow, rags wrapped round their feet for shoes, wondering how they're going eat, scratching around in the woods for berries. While meanies who cast them out, granny and papa, are living in a castle, feasting every night in their velvet and ermine. Oh the woe those young uns go through. 😥

All that to sell yet. So that should boost their popularity.

You know this was all about privacy? Harry wanted to protect his wife and children from press exposure so they went to Canada, and then the US, in order to get privacy?

Well, it's not about privacy. Their spokesman has clarified that today; says the idea is laughable.

They never said they wanted total privacy. It's what posters go on about but they never said that

queenofarles · 10/12/2022 16:39

Soooo in other words they aren't actually watching it? I’ve watched power of the dog on Netflix in less than an hour , finished some shows in one evening in about two hours , the speeding feature is very convenient.

thats why I never understand streaming services ratings ,
things were much easier when we were renting /buying.

oakleaffy · 10/12/2022 16:42

Surely to “ Escape from Press exposure “ IS seeking privacy.
They want to be in total control of all photographers , all images, the press ones are a lot more “Unedited “ and show less flattering expressions on both, and they probably wanted to avoid that.
Photo editing can make a vast difference , skin looks smoother, less blemishes, hair less balding, They are a vain couple, and clearly don’t want unflattering pics showing them in a “Less carefully curated “ way.

Rhondaa · 10/12/2022 16:42

'They never said they wanted total privacy. It's what posters go on about but they never said that'

Quite right. They wanted to sell their privacy and personal info to the highest bidder. Hello Netflix 🤑

ThighMistress · 10/12/2022 16:44

I’m sure if we trawl through previous threads Harry & Meghan fans will have said they left for privacy. I note @Roussette , that you add a cheeky little “total” in front of privacy, as if that adjective is a Gotcha! Yes, they want privacy, but not total privacy. As I said a few posts back, some posters’ gymnastics to excuse everything These Two do is gold-medal standard.

You don't understand about privacy do you? I don't understand your 'gotcha' comment. By the same standard, some posters twist themselves pretzel shaped to criticise them.

Anyway, privacy...

If i burst into your home by kicking the door down. That's invading your privacy.

If you decide you want me to come round, invite me, open the door and welcome me. That isn't.

Meghan covered this before. So... she has a bunch of photographs and she shows you one because you ask. You don't then grab all the photos to look at because she's shown you one.

Colcat · 10/12/2022 17:13

They didn't want privacy, they wanted money.

Colcat · 10/12/2022 17:15

I agree up to a point Roussette with what you say Meghan's view is on privacy. But it smacks of 'I'll show you some photos if you pay'.

EsmaCannonball · 10/12/2022 17:30

What they want is endless, expensive public relations propaganda without any of that glowing output subjected to media scrutiny. It's an abuse of privilege for the rich and powerful to use their vast resources to sell us an image and then to expect us just to accept their stories in a docile and unquestioning way. Instead of all the fluff and soft-balling, I'd like to see Harry and Meghan face a Jeremy Paxman-style grilling. In fact, all the royals could do with facing a harder line of questioning from the media.

But there are degrees of privacy. And they never ever said they want total privacy, they just wanted to be able to control the out-of-control feed to, or from the media.

Why should they be able to control it?

Rhondaa · 10/12/2022 17:42

It's weird because I do feel sorry for him. He is on self destruct and as their star continues to wane, his usefulness will end and he'll be on the scrap heap. Then he will be full of self loathing and we all know his mental wellbeing isn't resilient as it is.

You just want one of their trusted allies to say to them both shh now, enough. Live your lives stop the 'the UK media and the rf are evil' crap.

bakalava · 10/12/2022 17:46

While there is money to be made, Meghan will stick by his side and say and do whatever it takes to extract every pound.

Roussette · 10/12/2022 17:47

Janieread · 10/12/2022 17:41

Why should they be able to control it?

Why not? Why do they have to put up with slurs, articles, racist dog whistles, endless articles demeaning them etc? Why?

i'd want to try and control it if I were them.

So would I (and I'm glad you included the rest of the RF in that) but when image is everything hell will freeze over before any more of them subject themselves to real questioning

About the closest we've come to that is the Maitlis interview with Andrew, and look how that turned out Hmm

I agree that they should be able to control it. Some of the guff has been hideous.

The bit that makes me uncomfortable is the money involved. And the length of time it seems to have been planned.

It just feels a wee bit grubby. And I can understand why they feel as though they are isolated. They can choose to be all out there singing and dancing but it isn’t fair to involve others if they don’t wish to be involved. I’d be staying well clear of them too. The wee veiled comments need to stop.

Say your bit. Pull right away and be happy.

I just get the feeling that nothing is ever going to soothe them and everything is never going to be enough.

It is a shame. For want of going all Adele on their arses, they could have had it all.

But they've just made everything 200 x worse! They've been advised very badly.

ThighMistress · 10/12/2022 18:26

But - for the tenth zillionth time - if they had stepped back and gone off to Canada or wherever, people would have wished them well.

People forget the “collaborating” interlude where they were intending to do tours etc, and have moved straight on to accepting their post-Canada narrative.

Maybe they don’t want privacy and love fame, but it’s a poor sort of fame that trades on negativity and bringing down others.
