That seems to be the main talking point from the press. It has been referenced by PageSix and the Today show in America.

William and Kate’s US trip highlights how they’re not Harry and Meghan

Well I hardly think the Wales's put that on twitter @Roussette - it appears to the the work of a fan.
But as you say, it is clear evidence of a very happy marriage.

I never said they did?

I just said it's a very peculiar thing for a fan to put up. No one knows what a marriage is like and a series of glossy pap shots tells you absolutely *nothing"

I hope it's a happy marriage. For their sakes

MaulPerton · 29/11/2022 08:08

The positivity from these two is quite refreshing, though, is it not? I think that's what people are enjoying.

It's quite nice knowing that K will turn up with an upbeat tempo, a smile, and impeccable manners, W will be statuesque and droll, they will both look good and say nice things - no moody Diana, no petulant H, no whiny M. People take pleasure in predictability, certainty, and consistency (probably because the rest of life is the opposite).

I don't really care to be honest! But they're spinning the right image so I agree with you there

Samcro · 29/11/2022 09:50

so PW is flying all the way to the USA to give an earthshot award!! you couldn't make it up.

Serenster · 29/11/2022 10:20

I just said it's a very peculiar thing for a fan to put up.

Not that I’m expecting you to know this, just pointing out that fans creating videos of their favourites couples (or “ships”), whether real or fictional, and setting them to romantic ballads, is genuinely a big thing and has been for years and years now. Any popular TV characters in a romantic storyline you can think of (and many you probably would never think of 🤣) will have loads of these created by fans and posted on YouTube, twitter, TikTok etc etc. Celebrity romances also, There are bound to be loads of tribute videos posted of Meghan and Harry too. Welcome to the wonderful world of parasocial relationships!

Roussette · 29/11/2022 10:28

Not that I’m expecting you to know this

I know quite a lot, believe it or not, Serenster 😳
Why would you not expect me to know this? What an odd and slightly patronising comment to me. I'm probably a lot older than you and seen it, been there, done it! 🤣

I know fans put up nonsense like this, I can still point out that it's odd even if I've seen it before

Serenster · 29/11/2022 10:35

Okay, Roussette.

Why would you say “I just said it's a very peculiar thing for a fan to put up” if you know it’s actually very common behaviour for fans generally to do this? You may find the general practice peculiar, but that’s not what you said - you said this specific instance was peculiar. Why just this one?

Taking me to task for being patronising for reading your clear and unambiguous words as they were written is on you, not me.

They are still lower on the Climate Hypocrisy Scale than many, many others, but I take your point - there's not much between them.

I will repeat. Despite knowing fans do this, I find it odd.
I don't know why they do it
There's really no need for you to take me to task for what was, in essence, just a passing comment from me.

Why just this one? It was particularly sickly and posted on a thread I was reading. That's why. What's strange a put that?
I'd say it about other links if I saw them on other threads I was reading if the occasion arose

Sometimes I find the jumping on me for just something I said in passing very trying. I don't do it with you.

Roussette · 29/11/2022 10:55

What's strange about that (that should read)

antelopevalley · 29/11/2022 11:05

Don't worry, even if there is a very small crowd, the footage will be shot at an angle with accompanying articles declaring Boston people adored them and that the visit was a major success.
I think the reality will be some fans gathering as they do for other celebrities and the whole event will pass without much fuss but will be talked up big time in the British media.

i have little time for any of these preachers(yep includes H &M) people like the RF and Greta, travel all over the place telling us what to do.(have not been on a plane for 40 years)
Zoom would save that.

Croque · 29/11/2022 11:08

K&W are going in the name of service to the crown. How liberating!

They aren't going to win likes, Netflix deals or book deals.

Unless I have missed news about the US wishing to be ruled by the BRF then it is irrelevant whether the American public care or not. That's for the ILs to lose sleep over

antelopevalley · 29/11/2022 11:12

Why do they have to do this in the US anyway? The US is not a colony. It is an ex colony but that was a long time ago. Why not just have this event in the UK?

Because it’s not an event on behalf of the British Government, it’s an event to award prizes to people looking to find solutions to the global challenge of climate change. Last time I checked, the US is part of the world…

And many of the organisations sponsoring Earthshot are based in America.

I still think there will a bigger crowd than turned up at Harry’s speech to the UN !! No camera angle in the world could have made that anything other than embarrassing.

Well they do have to keep up the illusion that they actually do anything of any real substance with the British public.

Croque · 29/11/2022 14:33

H&M's Netflix release date is confirmed for 8 December. I never so that coming. I mean, who would have thought that they would try and outshine K&W again... and again...and again? <yawn>

antelopevalley · 29/11/2022 14:34

I thought Netflix's release dates are organised up to a year in advance? Certainly way before this trip was organised.

BlueKaftan · 29/11/2022 14:39

I wonder if this visit will be as much of a flop as the Caribbean trip 7 months ago. They were tone deaf and out of sync with each other.

Croque · 29/11/2022 14:41

😼 So many coincidences - how does it happen?

W and C were not in charge of the arrangements for the Caribbean trip .

It’s a mystery …….

antelopevalley · 29/11/2022 14:55

@Croque There are always events, birthdays and similar. You could just as easily argue William and Kate planned this tour to take the interest away from the Netflix release.
But there are always batshit threads around about how dare Meghan do that in the same week as Charlotte's birthday etc.
I do not think the Boston trip will get much press anyway in the US. They should have gone to Florida if they want more public interest.

antelopevalley · 29/11/2022 14:56

Readinginthesun · 29/11/2022 14:52

W and C were not in charge of the arrangements for the Caribbean trip .

I know that is the official story. The staff just organised it all and told them what to do. It paints an incredibly passive picture if true.

Anyway William made clear in the press that from now on they will drive their own foreign engagements, so anything they do is now clearly their decision.
