The royal family

Harry and Meghan - lies?

FurAndFeathers · 28/10/2022 19:51

Ok I’m keeping my fingers crossed this thread will not descend into an unsubstantiated bun fight! Please bear with me.

I’m definitely no Royalist, and am pretty ambivalent about H and M but from the little I’ve read they seem to have been treated pretty badly. However I keep seeing on other threads here that their claims have all be proven to be lies, which would make me much less sympathetic to them. But I can’t find any verification for this.

So I’m asking more knowledgeable posters - what lies specifically have H&M told and where’s the evidence to the contrary please?

thank you

And as for asking the person whose relative works for the RF saying they are liars, just take it at face value because he would have signed a confidentiality order preventing disclosures. Can't stop him saying they are liars.

FurAndFeathers · 28/10/2022 23:25

Look either report me or feel free to ignore the thread.

i’m not sure why the unpleasant insinuations are necessary, but if you doubt my motives I’m not sure why you’re posting and activating the thread - it’s counter intuitive

@FurAndFeathers Stop asking people to link. Just google like everyone else.

You can see the pivoting already but expect the turn back - what they don't understand is that this is a long game. Spoilt people usually don't get it, Meghan is one of them, but not matter how intelligent she is simple unable to play a long game.

cabansunset · 28/10/2022 23:28

She said the royal racist said what they claimed when she was pregnant. Harry contradicted her and said it was around the time they were getting engaged.

He said his father cut him off financially (they were still receiving money from him at that stage) proved by financial statements.

She said they refused to give Archie a title because he is mixed race, it is in fact protocol.

She said they got married prior to the wedding which was a fake wedding. That was a lie, disputed by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

She said their was a fire in Archie's room in SA, it was a smoking heater and he wasn't in the room at the time.

She said a cast member of lion king said they danced in the streets when she got married - no cast member spoke to her that night.

She contradicts herself in interviews, saying she studied French for 8 years and then saying it was 4.

She said her passport was taken from her and she couldn't leave of her own free will, she went on multiple holidays abroad during that time.

She gushed over her wonderful father in her blog and then abruptly cut him off.

She says she worked jobs to put herself through college, her father paid for her private education.

She's made statements about a letter she write to proctor & gamble, they cannot find any record of this happening.

She says she had no support when entering the RF, she had advisors and lessons in etiquette and special help offered from camilla, which she rejected.

There are discrepancies in her story about the Turkish spa visits, in timings and location. These would've been expensive expensive luxury outings, she claimed they were living on the breadline at the time.

She constantly catches herself out, she never stops talking about herself and it's all on record.

pumpkinscoop · 28/10/2022 23:31

FurAndFeathers it's just slightly odd that you ask if Harry and Meghan have lied, because you know nothing about them, and when posters point out that, yes, they have (in their own words, and also proven in court), you seem to be loathe to believe it and come back with instances suggesting otherwise. Which seems amazing as you claim to know nuffink.

Good old fashioned MN headtilt.

JubileeTrifle · 28/10/2022 23:36

If this is a ‘tell all’ book where do they go from here. The RF are going to make sure there is no opportunity for new material going forward. No one is going to speak to them about anything, they aren’t going to be privy to anything. They might come to the coronation but it will be like the funeral, in and out.
Are they still trying to sell themselves as philanthropists with no money or experts in relationships or something. It’s a sad life really.

FurAndFeathers · 28/10/2022 23:38

Thanks those of you who have given thoughtful and corroborated information - it’s very much appreciated.

I admit I came onto this thread with an element of cynicism about the amorphous ‘lies’ that are often mentioned
here (especially as the RF’s antics in terms of racism and sex offences don’t endear them to me!)

but I think it’s pretty clear that there a number of issues where deliberate lies have been told - the FF court case, lion king actor and passport all seem pretty clear cut, as well as a few others. It’s helped to give me a much more balanced view of the issue and it’s definitely not as clear but I’d initially thought so thank you again for your time and expertise.

I’m going to duck out now as apparently wanting corroborated sources to develop an informed opinion on something about which you’re uninformed is highly suspicious of some kind of ulterior motive (good knows what that would be! 😂).

no wonder critical thinking is a dying skill

I think the Queen's funeral was the last event where they got some sort of seat based on ranking. They are going to be politely told to stay away. Frankly who wants them around, they are just a liability whatever they touch.

There I said it! But I would not want them a thing to do with my favourite charities either. They can go and profit on others, good riddance and good luck

As you have trouble developing your own critical thinking skills and have relied on other people's researching abilities, maybe you'd better go to bed?

Nice pívot and sign off OP - did it back fire and "you" have decided to wrap up?!

notmyrealmoniker · 28/10/2022 23:44

@Coronateachingagain No, she's decided critical thinking is above her pay grade.

therubbiliser · 28/10/2022 23:46

BlueRidge · 28/10/2022 20:45

I wouldn't say "lies" as such; more "their" truth through "their lens."
It doesn't seem to be the same version of events as others would relate.
Which appears to be what the Queen was referring to when she said, "recollections may vary."

I agree with this but I also belief that in the main they aren’t telling lies very often the truths they are telling are uncomfortable for their families.

onlylarkin · 28/10/2022 23:53

IMO, the bridesmaid dress crying was likely a combination of Catherine having just given birth and Meghan being stressed before a wedding. These things happen all the time and no one should have ever known about it. It was between them and it should have stayed there.

BreadInCaptivity · 28/10/2022 23:57

I'm happy to take the OP in good faith.

Regardless of whether it was posted in the spirit or not, it's good to have a thread with all the "receipts".

Like many people I'm not anti H&M and was happy about their marriage.

I do however have a deep skepticism about what they say vs what they do as a result of their own behaviour/testimony and not one that's shaped by the press since their exit from the RF.

I genuinely wish the pair of them can let go of past grievances and move on. They have established a lifestyle in the US most people could not dream of. I hope the cost in how they have achieved that is worth it to them, but sadly I suspect it won't be.

Personality wise they both seem quick to blame others and slow to reflect on their own actions/accusations. Throwing "their" truth bombs and complaining when injured by a blast of their own creation.

yellowbananasinjuly · 29/10/2022 00:01

Tom Bower's book 'Revenge' will fill you in. After the first bit it is well written, balanced and interesting. He clearly isn't approaching the topic of H and M as a fan, but he has scrupulously researched everything to make sure that there is nothing he asserts that won't stand up in court. And they haven't tried to sue him, most unusual for them.

Livelovebehappy · 29/10/2022 00:04

I’m beyond bored with the pair of them. I just wish the media would read the room and stop headlining them every day. I was behind them when they wanted to leave the RF and live a normal life outside the spot lights. Fair enough, I thought. But the subsequent shit show circus they’ve put on since is mad. It shows their agenda went way beyond just wanting privacy. I just want them to go away, live their best life and stop washing their dirty laundry in public. It’s just totally unnecessary and serves no purpose whatsoever.

onlylarkin · 29/10/2022 00:32

One thing bothers me about the whole private life thing. They never said that. In the interview they said they wanted security for Archie to be safe and they felt as though he would not be in the UK. Which also goes to her statement about a title, but I wont go into that right now.

This clip shows Meghan explaining: www.oprahdaily.com/entertainment/a35773234/meghan-markle-oprah-privacy-tabloids-exclusive-clip/

onlylarkin · 29/10/2022 00:43

Here is Harry's comment on why they left from the actual transcript:

Oprah: So when I ask the question, ‘Why did you leave?’ the simplest answer is . . ?
Harry: Lack of support and lack of understanding.
Oprah: So, I want clarity. Was the move about getting away from the UK Press? Because the Press, as you know, is everywhere. Or was the move because you weren’t getting enough support from The Firm?
Harry: It was both.
Oprah: Both.
Harry: Yeah.

antelopevalley · 29/10/2022 01:05

"He said his father cut him off financially (they were still receiving money from him at that stage) proved by financial statements."

The financial statements are not public and the accounting method used never revealed. It is literally Charles word against Harrys. There is no evidence.

antelopevalley · 29/10/2022 01:08

"She says she had no support when entering the RF, she had advisors and lessons in etiquette and special help offered from camilla, which she rejected."

Princess Diana also said she had no support when entering the Royal Family and she also had lessons in etiquette. I suspect by support both Meghan and Diana did not mean the correct way to address an Archbishop.

antelopevalley · 29/10/2022 01:09

"She gushed over her wonderful father in her blog and then abruptly cut him off."

Loads of people think their parent is wonderful and then grow up and see actions through different eye

antelopevalley · 29/10/2022 01:13

"She said there was a fire in Archie's room in SA, it was a smoking heater and he wasn't in the room at the time."

She did not say Archie was in the room. "he personally saw the 'severely melted' heater." The heater was smoking and melted. Is this a fire? I think it is reasonable to say it was. www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/meghan-markle-s-claim-that-a-fire-broke-out-at-archie-s-nursery-confirmed-by-security-source/ar-AA11g37K

antelopevalley · 29/10/2022 01:14

"She said they refused to give Archie a title because he is mixed race, it is in fact protocol."
She said Charles had said when the Queen died Archie would not be a Prince. Archie is not a Prince. Why that is the case is a matter of personal opinion.

antelopevalley · 29/10/2022 01:16

"She contradicts herself in interviews, saying she studied French for 8 years and then saying it was 4."

Who cares? It may depend what you mean by studying French. I learned French at a very basic level in primary school, but only properly studied it at secondary school.
