Harry and Meghan - lies?

1000 replies

FurAndFeathers · 28/10/2022 19:51

Ok I’m keeping my fingers crossed this thread will not descend into an unsubstantiated bun fight! Please bear with me.

I’m definitely no Royalist, and am pretty ambivalent about H and M but from the little I’ve read they seem to have been treated pretty badly. However I keep seeing on other threads here that their claims have all be proven to be lies, which would make me much less sympathetic to them. But I can’t find any verification for this.

So I’m asking more knowledgeable posters - what lies specifically have H&M told and where’s the evidence to the contrary please?

thank you

that big bash thrown for Elizabeth not too long ago when people are starving!
Starving? How many people do you know who are starving?

I thought this thread was about Meghan's lies. Why is Kate being brought into it by some posters as if that is relevant? I know conversation moves forward (or maybe backwards!), but there's a bit of shoehorning going on!

yet any thread about Kate has meghan bashing! so what s the problem of mentioning Kate on here.

Big Bash ? Are you referring to the PJ or the funeral ? Or both ?
Do you know anyone who is starving ?

Croque · 04/11/2022 10:25

that big bash thrown for Elizabeth not too long ago when people are starving!

What are you personally doing to address that or is it just a convenient cliché to thrown around in 2022 ?

MmArnault · 04/11/2022 15:50

@Serenster , let's not kid ourselves in thinking that any these careers could provide for the life of unimaginable privileges and luxuries that these people are leading Grin MM is not the only one who has been elevated by the royal purse's tide. She's always had to work up until her wedding and she's never been shy hustling (her word).

BasiliskStare · 04/11/2022 17:59

@Milti - that made me laugh - yes I can see M may have found some of those questions hard but if as she said Harry said - no idea to a lot of them well - he's either trying to make her feel better or he should have known a great many of them. I think he really should given how he grew up . ( & I don't necessarily mean the Protectorate related one etc ) just the basic geography of the country etc. patron saints etc .

Diverseopinions · 04/11/2022 20:19

I don't think Jubilees are big bashes thrown for a person, but it seems pointless trying to say so, as the definition of royalty, and public uniting occasions, is just lost on some people.

The idea of a Jubilee is that everybody gets involved and joins with their neighbours and forms a kind of collective of goodwill, because the monarch is a symbolic head of all that - and inhabits the role, the clothes, the castles only as a figurehead. It's really about us people.

But, it everyone wants to think that it's all about being a more popular celeb than another one, then go ahead.

No-one really thinks that - some people are just being disingenuous, as per usual.

Fur'n'feathers: I haven't seen any lies from Meghan and Harry, there would be absolutely no point in them lying anyway and they seem like honest people. Obviously those who have been 'in the scene' with them will recall some things differently, that's quite normal for all of us in various situations but outright lying is another matter altogether.

What would be the motive for lying and who has a reputation for lying (or whitewashing/airbrushing)?
.................
The documentary has been aired and the book published. Hopefully this couple will now feel able to properly get on with their lives, bringing up their family and being involved in things about which they feel passionate - and for which both have proven talent. Good luck to them.

DonnaDonna0 · 22/12/2022 14:00

I think Netflix’s would expect something good for their 100 million, people have out right lied and/or twisted the truth for a lot less.
Not saying that’s what’s happened but if your looking for a reason why they might lie. 🤷‍♀️

FishBowlSwimmer · 23/12/2022 03:32

It's not about what M wears, how much H&M spend, where they live, or even that they wanted a different life.

It's what they say or write. It's the whole load of unproven accusations against the RF. It's the constant moaning about how hard their lives are, that people criticise them. It's the clear message that they have grudges against the RF, the press, the general public and it's all the UK's fault.

According to them we are a horrible racist country, so much so that they moved to the US, which has exactly the same, if not worse racial problems as the UK.

The UK'S press is a disgrace, yes, I agree with that, but is it any worse than US press? No way.

There's absolutely no logic in how they say they feel about the UK, which leads me to believe that either they have such massive egos that they genuinely think that every time they don't get what they want it's a personal slight to them or they are actually courting controversy for attention.

It's a constant readjusting of the facts to suit the desired narrative

Do you have examples of the racial abuse Meghan has experienced in the USA?
it’s well documented in the UK.

that plus racism within the Royal household, and multiple examples of supporting/befriending child sex abusers amongst her in-laws.
I’d certainly not want my kids growing up in that environment

Do you have examples of the racial abuse Meghan has experienced in the USA?

In her own words, from an article in Elle Magazine, from before she met Harry.

www.elle.com/uk/life-and-culture/news/a26855/more-than-an-other/

But here's what happens: they smile and nod politely, maybe even chuckle, before getting to their point, 'Right, but what are you? Where are your parents from?' I knew it was coming, I always do.”

I was home in LA on a college break when my mom was called the 'N' word. We were leaving a concert and she wasn't pulling out of a parking space quickly enough for another driver. My skin rushed with heat as I looked to my mom. Her eyes welling with hateful tears, I could only breathe out a whisper of words, so hushed they were barely audible: 'It's OK, Mommy.”

I remember the tweets when that first episode of the Zane family aired [on Suits], they ran the gamut from: 'Why would they make her dad black? She's not black' to 'Ew, she's black? I used to think she was hot.' The latter was blocked and reported. The reaction was unexpected, but speaks of the undercurrent of racism that is so prevalent, especially within America

Ok so one example from several years ago that doesn’t represent a sustained campaign amongst mainstream media.

no newspaper headlines then?

Plus that example is a self-report from Meghan. Isn’t she untrustworthy in your eyes? 😁

This isn’t how she recounted it in the show?

She said her mum beeped someone else for coming out too slowly, then afterwards she just sat in silence, not knowing what to say?

Its these little inconsistencies that there always are whenever she recounts a story.

I don’t think she lies, as such, but she just constantly embellishes.

Serenster · 23/12/2022 11:50

That’s Meghan’s own account of the daily racism she faced before she met Prince Harry and became world-famous (there are more examples in her article, by the way). Do you expect us to believe that it has got better now she’s globally famous, then?

Further, other than “(almost) Straight Outta Compton”, what newspaper headlines in Britain are you referring to?

Serenster · 23/12/2022 11:54

Here are some genuine US newspaper headlines about Meghan and Harry, by the way. Funny, they didn’t mention the press coverage they now get in the US.

Harry and Meghan - lies?

On terms of what happened it doesntvreally matter. It must have been for Doria. But there are so many inconsistencies. Like the story over the curtsey. If she misremembers so much, how's it not likely that shes misremembered things that happened in the RF.

Yes that’s a good example. How many examples of the avian in the British media do you need before you acknowledge that Meghan experienced racism in the British media?

what ‘counts’?

*racism in the a British media

The thing is, they are both true.

There was racist elements to press coverage.

Meghan embellishes stories.

One does not negate the other.

rumship · 23/12/2022 13:36

@FurAndFeathers Still ignoring US media then? 😂
