Harry and Meghan - lies?

Ok I’m keeping my fingers crossed this thread will not descend into an unsubstantiated bun fight! Please bear with me.

I’m definitely no Royalist, and am pretty ambivalent about H and M but from the little I’ve read they seem to have been treated pretty badly. However I keep seeing on other threads here that their claims have all be proven to be lies, which would make me much less sympathetic to them. But I can’t find any verification for this.

So I’m asking more knowledgeable posters - what lies specifically have H&M told and where’s the evidence to the contrary please?

thank you

rumours they have separated - I hope not

LOL, rumours from deranged obsessives on twitter. Every time H returned to the UK when the Queen was alive it was because he was about to tell her his marriage was over 😜

I could have sworn they said H&M would divorce in 2020, then 2021, we're deep into 2020 now 😂

They have to keep hope alive somehow.

I recognize that some families do have more help than others. I have been a stay at home mom since my oldest was born 19 years ago. Through hard work, sacrifice and luck, my husband makes enough that I have been able to be home with my kids, even as teens. I recognize that makes me more privileged than most others.

I also had home based businesses that helped when we needed it. I have felt the judgement from other moms because I did not work outside of the home.

My issue is someone saying that because a person has a nanny they aren't raising theur own kids.

So lets look at it this way:

Are your parents helping with your kids while you work? That is like having a nanny.

Are you kids in day care while you work? That is like having a nanny.

Doesn't make any of these families less parental than someone who stays home with their kids.

I have no idea why you are quoting my post when I have said I have had a nanny and it didn’t make me less of a mother. Do you actually read what people say?

Samcro · 02/11/2022 07:31

so now the fact she has a nanny makes her bad!!! do you say the same about Kate? (exhausted)

pumpkinscoop · 02/11/2022 07:36

Samcro, oh yes, Kate is regularly bashed for having nannies and accused of not being there for her children. And her children being too prim and proper. And too badly behaved. And dressed inappropriately. And having strict manners. And not having manners.

Funny, I've not seen more than 750 threads on Kate and this sort of criticism

Meghan, yes

There were multiple completely disgusting posts on here and all over SM after Louis' rather rambunctious behaviour at the Jubilee. Why do some keep pretending it's only poor victimised Meghan who is criticised? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes and I criticised them. But do not pretend it was of the VOLUME of Meghan threads.

Maybe 2 or 3. Not nearly a thousand

LaMarschallin · 02/11/2022 08:18

Kate was criticised for not holding a baby properly, showing - apparently - she'd never held one of her own.

LaMarschallin · 02/11/2022 08:20

Mind you, it's easy to forget.
I'm a new grandmother (I know! So excited) and did wonder if I'd forget what to do... It's coming back Smile

I'm not "pretending" anything. The question was asked if Kate would receive the same criticisms around her parenting, the answer is yes she would and does.

Why don't you stop "pretending" that Kate and Meghan are the same? Kate doesn't talk publicly, well rarely and usually on a one to one conversational basis . Meghan on the other hand has a huge and carefully cultivated public platform where her every word is hung on to and analysed by multiple millions. Of course she's going to receive more attention.

Kate is unable to talk. That's the middle and both ends of it
Meghan is not funded by the British taxpayer and can

I totally agree. They are not the same.

And thus will attract much more attention, as I said.

Yep.

But sometimes there's a point where it's beyond a joke

pumpkinscoop · 02/11/2022 08:29

Actually, I've just had a scroll back over these boards. Lots of criticism of Kate over the years for various reasons. When Meghan is first on the scene there are actually very few threads about her, generally either commentary on how beautiful she is, how nice that Harry has found someone etc, occasional comment, good and bad, about something she's worn, how lovely their wedding was. The critical threads started when they decided they wanted to leave the royal family/UK, and particularly after the Oprah interview. With the content of the Oprah interview, I don't think the criticism is surprising. Perhaps if Kate had given similar interviews there'd be more criticism of her?

Have you actually counted the threads? Impressive Grin

It is an utterly disgusting lie that criticism started when they left the UK. Meghan was mocked for holding her baby bump too much, for being too earnest, for making too many speeches, for holding Harry's hand, for looking at him too much, for holding Archie the wrong way. She could do nothing right.

It was a very very ugly couple of years so please don't come on here and lie that critical threads started because of Oprah. They did Oprah because of the vile way they were treated.

I will - and am!

Although I'm going to have to tone down the excitement. I couldn't resist posting it here and recently brought it up during a call for a - totally unrelated - hotel reservation Blush

pumpkinscoop · 02/11/2022 08:45

tatala- have a look back across the board. In the early days there were lots of nice things said about Meghan and her relationship with Harry. Previous posters were suggesting Kate had an easier ride - she really didn't. There's been huge amounts of nastiness towards her on social media, especially out of the US - I was having a look at the twitter cesspool yesterday and some of the commentary was foul (and when you consider Kate, completely unjustified). Don't get me wrong, Meghan's had just as rough a ride, but if you're going to put yourself out there, people are going to look at what you say and do, and may find it unpalatable.

'disgusting lie' if directed at me is perhaps a bit over the top.

Roussette · 02/11/2022 08:53

Absolutely untrue. Go and look at threads titled "I'm fucking sick of Meghan and Harry" on the day of their engagement.
Read them

And also bear in mind the sheer number of threads that were zapped day in day out. I was there. I saw them.

Do not pretend they invited criticism
The did not

Roussette · 02/11/2022 08:55

No.

Before MN changed the search facility it was two presses of search and it told you.
That's why I know

I get it! My very best friend of 45 years is a first time GM and I'm living it through her!

One day for me hopefully!

pumpkinscoop · 02/11/2022 08:58

So you don't think anything they said or did, ever, should be subject to criticism, while it's alright to criticise Kate as you've done, who as far as I'm aware has done nothing, nada, zilch to warrant it?

History cannot be rewritten

We don't know that for certain and never will, which is why a question mark will perpetually hang over this particular point.

What?

I don't criticise Kate.
Yes, I criticise the institution

If course H&M should be criticised at times, they get it wrong, they go too far, they're annoying BUT the level of criticism and vitriol is off the scale. Unwarranted. Bullying.

It's so bad it's laughable
