Harry and Meghan - lies?

FurAndFeathers · 28/10/2022 19:51

Ok I’m keeping my fingers crossed this thread will not descend into an unsubstantiated bun fight! Please bear with me.

I’m definitely no Royalist, and am pretty ambivalent about H and M but from the little I’ve read they seem to have been treated pretty badly. However I keep seeing on other threads here that their claims have all be proven to be lies, which would make me much less sympathetic to them. But I can’t find any verification for this.

So I’m asking more knowledgeable posters - what lies specifically have H&M told and where’s the evidence to the contrary please?

thank you

Quick copy and paste job it’s not hard

milti · 29/10/2022 20:29

There are at least some things to admire about Meghan - Harry no

Jones9876 · 29/10/2022 20:37

I do think it's odd that during the engagement interview MM claimed not to have much knowledge of the RF.

Given that she visited London as an impressionable teenager only a year before Dianas death and had her photo taken outside BP, I think it's highly unlikely that she didn't follow the resulting news of the death. I believe she knew exactly who Harry was.

I do wonder if she felt that Harry needed 'saving'. Just my two cents x

ArcaneWireless · 29/10/2022 20:47

There were no negative or racist comments in my neck of the woods.

MN - as grand as it can be for so many reasons - isn’t necessarily a true representation of the real world.

Nasty trolls make up shite for the sake of it. Some join just to put in their nasty tuppence - whatever the subject might be. Some hear the dog whistle and come trotting to put a stick on the fire.

Some come to stir the pot ‘a big boy done it and ran away’ stylee and retreat once they’ve got everyone frothing with a goady wasp poking thread.

And some come on to spout shite as though they have insider knowledge or know about the true state of someone’s marriage just from someone handholding/not handholding.

Some folk can’t see a positive post about a couple without shoe-horning in a snarky dig about another couple.

Some folk live for the froth. Some folk are bubble cannons for royal froth.

Some folk are the froth.

antelopevalley · 29/10/2022 20:48

@Gilmorehill I live in the UK. My friends and family don't give a shit about the Royal Family. I know many people do though. It is why forums give a window into what a wider range of people think.

themessygarden · 30/10/2022 07:28

She claimed not to know 'much' about the Royal Family, she never said she knew nothing about them at all, the same with not googling about Harry.

On the other hand, she was/is good friends with Misha Nonoo, who she became friends with in 2014/2015 and who was married to Harry and William's best friend, Alexander Gilkes, they subsequently divorced in 2017. Harry, William, Kate, the Middletons, Eugenie and Beatrice were all at Misha and Alexanders wedding. Pippa Middleton was in a long standing relationship with the brother of Alexander Gilkes.

Jack Brooksbank, husband of Eugenie, is close friends with Markus Anderson who is one of Meghan Markles best friends. Meghan has since said she knew Eugenie from before she met Harry.

So she was clearly on the periphery of a circle that was very much involved, and very close, with the Queen's grandchildren. It's not like she came out of California, knowing absolutely nothing about the RF, she had friends who were very close with that tight circle.

It is speculated that it was Nonoo who was the person who fixed her up with Harry.

themessygarden · 30/10/2022 07:33

And to be fair, plenty of us have had our photo taken in front of Buckingham Palace without have any real interest in the RF. Same with Princess Diana, she was on every cover of every magazine, you didn't have to be a fan to read an article about her.

PoseyFlump · 30/10/2022 07:33

This thread is a hoot. Posters claiming MM didn't get P&G to change shit and how long an ad takes to make etc means she was lying. Then a poster posts a video of 12 year old MM and how the ad was simply changed by the voiceover using a different word.

I don't give a toss about the RF or MM but there are some hilarious posters here. It's like a fucking cult. When push comes to shove and someone has asked why you call her a liar, is this all you can come up with? Overblown bollocks.

Serenster · 30/10/2022 07:38

The P&G claim is all ancient history, it’s clearly become an anecdote that Meghan likes to relate to make a point about her young self. And like any such anecdote, it’s not pretending to be an accurate account of the ins and outs of what actually happened. Vanity Fair didn’t use it in their “Wild About Harry” piece though because as a publication they have high standards, and it didn’t get through their fact checking process.

When you’re dealing with someone who lied to a court and procured others to lie on her behalf though, this is small beer though, I agree. But I guess if you are the type of person who will lie when it does matter, you’ll lie when it doesn’t, too.

PoseyFlump · 30/10/2022 09:27

Haven't seen any actual 'lies' on this thread. Just stuff open to interpretation and misunderstanding (like their secret vows). Haven't yet read anything that's 'wow what a whopper'. Maybe there isn't anything major and people just enjoy the sport of hating them 🤷🏻‍♀️

Serenster · 30/10/2022 09:42

You’ve been reading with blinkers on then, PoseyFlump!

As I said above, Meghan has shown that she is prepared to lie on oath when it matters, and collude with others to mislead the court. That’s the high-water point. She has said a lot of other things that are highly dubious or outright ludicrous.

The fact that you and her other supporters can twist and turn and come up with (in many cases tenuous) narratives to explain why that statement is excusable, and that other statement could be explained if you consider these factors, what we are left with is someone ’s whose supporters have to engage in complex mental gymnastics to explain her many questionable comments.

What other people, quite justifiably, see is someone whose connection with the truth is weak at best and who seems very happy to say whatever she feels will serve her own interests best. Also interesting that her supporters feel the need to be so dismissive of other people’s views here. Almost like they realise it’s not really defensible so they need to go on the attack….

PoseyFlump · 30/10/2022 10:06

I said "I don't give a toss about the RF or MM" so what do you call me @Serenster? Her supporter?! Hahaha. If you don't hate 'em you must be a supporter? Take your own blinkers off.

Ohnonevermind · 30/10/2022 10:52

@Serenster

excellent posts as always

i’ve always wondered ‘why’ she lies. There are a variety of reasons, some benign to protect others feelings and others to put others down or to make you seem better. I think she’s in the latter camp.

she lies about the little things, and for me that’s the red flag

milti · 30/10/2022 11:45

Serenster you are right - you can’t make a blind man see -

milti · 30/10/2022 11:45

She lies to make gains for herself - simple

notanotheroneagain · 30/10/2022 11:56

@milti your forgot that Archie and Lili don't actually exist !

😂😂😂

You see OP, these are the kind of hacks you deal with on MN. How do you think you will get any reasoning on here

Their children are a private matter - I don’t comment on them

notanotheroneagain · 30/10/2022 12:13

Stop breaking MN rules by insisting on this, when you know very well I cannot repost the pictures.

You have been lying left right and centre about H&M forever, and no one goes on about other threads. Looks like you are trying to create a bun fight and get this thread deleted because it's not going as you hope.

YOu are breaking MN rules too.

Ohnonevermind · 30/10/2022 12:17

I have been posting about ‘their’ lies, since I joined mumsnet earlier this year, so hardly ‘forever’

Ohnonevermind · 30/10/2022 12:19

I’ve only posted (regarding their kids) that I admire them as ‘private citizens’ keeping their children private.

PoseyFlump · 30/10/2022 12:21

Well I'm totally fucking confused. Who knew the RF section was so entertaining.

Ohnonevermind · 30/10/2022 12:22

So was I lying about MM having to correct the court record ?

was I lying that Meghan’s ‘trapped narrative’ about having her passport removed didn’t square with making 13 private trips and the RF lying to protect her privacy

im stil waiting for the person who told her ‘that people were dancing on the streets when she got married, like they did when Mandela was released, as the evidence shows no-one having this conversation with her.

Ohnonevermind · 30/10/2022 12:29

She lied about paying her own college fees, her dad stumped up the majority of the money, she did some college work to reduce the bill, but didn’t pay anything herself or get a loan.

PoseyFlump · 30/10/2022 12:40

she did some college work to reduce the bill, but didn’t pay anything herself

That makes no sense. Either she did some work to contribute or she didn't.
