Who will be watching it?

'Just my opinion but I think the writers would like us to believe their version is a good estimation of what really happened, but can't say so because they cannot prove it.'

Oh yes I don't doubt they would love their version to be true, but when you have people like John Major categorically deny that any discussion about the Queen abdicating took place then it does make the rest of it seem petty and point scoring. You know fine well if they do decide to carry on until present day then William will be the villain and Harry will be the poor victim fleeing for his life (and $$$).

They should just call it 'made up bollocks with folk dressed up as the rf' for more accuracy.

antelopevalley · 18/10/2022 15:02

I have no idea if Charles did discuss this with Major, but we know Major has lied before.

He has categorically denied it happened. The Crown has admitted they make up stuff .
What bit do you not believe ?

AnnunciataZ · 18/10/2022 15:10

People are either very naive or don't know much about the workings of massive streaming services if they think Harry can influence Netflix's production of The Crown! They produce loads of content and he's only working with them on a documentary. I wouldn't even say he's particularly influential compared to some of the other big names they've hired.

I agree but he could make a stance and cease working for them ?
Much smaller scale but I refuse to use certain companies because I don’t like how they conduct themselves.

Ohnonevermind · 18/10/2022 15:13

So you are alleging that Charles and John Major committed potentially treasonous acts based on a work of admitted fiction ‘The crown’ 🤔

I know that John Major does not always tell the truth.

@AnnunciataZ I agree. Harry can do nothing. If the Royal Family could not even get Netflix to add a warning about dramatisation, then Harry can do nothing. Netflix has a global audience and what some Royal fans think of Netflix and one TV show really will not bother them at all.
If Harry stopped working for them he would have to repay at minimum money already given to him and maybe much more. He will have a contract. I know the Royal Family members who are funded by the taxpayer can do whatever they want, in the real world it does not work like that.
And maybe Harry thinks The Crown is pretty accurate? As the Queen was keen to point out, recollections may differ.

Yes he could vote with his wallet couldn't he. He could shine a light on Netflix's bollocks by saying it's bollocks. Didn't he in fact say it gives a rough idea of the lifestyle? Oh yes it has all the outfits and palaces just right! just with a load of controversial made up crap thrown in.

He is working for a company that is producing a soap that will feature his dysfunctional childhood, his parents divorce and his dm's tragic death. You'd really think he'd be very vocal and critical of it. Bet if it was the BBC he would be.

Ohnonevermind · 18/10/2022 15:33

Harry and his wife can’t even get their stories straight at a joint interview, so I wouldn’t put all my eggs in that basket @antelopevalley

Harry can’t afford to pay back the advance Netflix advanced, so he’s effectively bought and paid for. He’ll do what he’s told

Puzzledandpissedoff · 18/10/2022 15:39

Unless his father or someone else bails him out that is indeed how it looks, and as ever there's the question of where he'll get his income if not from all these media outlets

LookingAtYou · 18/10/2022 16:06

'Harry can’t afford to pay back the advance Netflix advanced, so he’s effectively bought and paid for. He’ll do what he’s told'

It's just cringeworthy. Bit dramatic but he's really done a deal with the devil hasn't the. All his 'own truths' etc etc will have to stay uncharacteristically silent as some actress plays his tragic mum and his whole family are once again on the telly for us all to gawk at and pick apart.

antelopevalley · 18/10/2022 16:08

Done a deal with the devil is hyperbole. He has a contract to deliver specific work. He has no influence over Netflix as a whole, and why would he when the Queen had no influence over them.

Charles is not going to give Harry any money. He has made that clear.

The Queen wasn’t being paid by Netflix! Do you not think that Harry should step away from a company that trashes his family

antelopevalley · 18/10/2022 16:09

Well he supported him until his mid 30s so Harry can’t complain.

LookingAtYou · 18/10/2022 16:14

'Done a deal with the devil is hyperbole.'

Well that's why I said it's a bit dramatic but he really has sold his 'truths' for the sake of his paycheck.

He should have the balls to speak out against it, but he doesn’t he's just a nodding dog doing whatever he's told to get paid.

ImAvingOops · 18/10/2022 17:23

I suppose the trouble with being royal is that they aren't particularly qualified to do anything else. Mostly they are all a bit useless.
If Charles was sensible he'd not be stingy with money and would keep Harry away from the lines of Oprah and Netflix!

antelopevalley · 18/10/2022 17:24

Readinginthesun · 18/10/2022 16:12

Perfectly normal in that family to be financially supported your whole life.

@antelopevalley would never want to miss an opportunity to make the RF or one of it's members look bad. Nothing to do with what she/he believes! Grin

antelopevalley · 18/10/2022 17:27

I have not said I believe anything. Simply that Major has lied before.
Truth is I do not know what to believe.

Depends on what kind of lie. The dress looks nice on you, sure. More serious lies, no.

It is incredible how litigious he is when he perceives that a version of his truth has been transgressed by a publication but is completely silent when there's money in it for him, truth, lies, whatever.
