Anyone else think The Times should not be printing extracts from this new book about Royal Courtiers at this time? Incredibly stupid given that H&M are trying to mend fences? I feel really quite cross for everyone involved - William's efforts to build bridges etc, all going to be in vain now. Very naughty.

Charles would have outlined his exact plans to them years ago so they know better than you do what is imminent now that he is the king.

Croque · 24/09/2022 15:12

To his credit, he has been as transparent about it as he can in his briefings. That includes the secret ones too!

rocketfromthecrypt · 24/09/2022 15:14

They'd have been mad not to release it now, given the book is out in a couple of weeks and anything royal is making the headlines at the moment. I'd rather read about the bad behaviour of people I'll never meet, and who have no influence on my life, than about the various ways the Tories are fucking us all over.

Arbesque · 24/09/2022 15:18

That excerpt is very damaging to Meghan and Harry. Is the book authorised by the Palace?

RIPQueen · 24/09/2022 15:24

I’m absolutely thrilled that it’s going to come to light exactly how badly meghan and Harry have treated palace staff. It’s disgraceful and they’ve been cosseted by the queen and allowed to get away with playing victims knowing she wouldn’t allow anything to come out. Well now hopefully people will understand who they really are.

Rainbunny · 24/09/2022 15:34

I think it's only fair that the staff members who feel so badly mistreated and bullied get to have their experiences aired publicly - finally! The investigation and final report conducted by the palace was buried and it appears the staff members were very upset about it. It feels wrong that ANY employee who suffers abuse in their workplace should be made to keep quiet just because their bosses happen to be in the royal family.

It's also clearly far more than just gossip - there were internal emails sent about the situation and a formal investigation launched. Also these staff members made it clear they were ready and willing to testify under oath in the court case between the DM and MM - so we're not talking mere tittle tattle here.

The idea that this is a mean spirited campaign against the Sussexes is perhaps true, but then again who started the long campaign of accusations against the royal family? I think the proof of the pudding will be in whether the famously litigious Sussexes sue over this book.

I don't care about the royals one bit but I do care about bullied employees, having gone through such an experience once in my life. Good for them that they are finding a way to be heard.

I think the general public need to know the kind of people we're paying for and what kind of shenanigans they're up to if any.

These are important criteria in deciding whether want to continue with this system or go for a republic.
I also think the entitled attitude of some of them is completely alien to our values these days. We need to know which of them thinks they are better than everybody else and can just treat ordinary people like utter shitty.

Yeah like the views of the common man is going to have any bearing on whether the Royal family will continue, or not. The public will continue to pay for them and theirs regardless. They continue to exist because the public Joe actually believes that they are better than them!

WalkingwithPilgrims · 24/09/2022 15:51

I would love to hear how Harry & Meghan supporters view this article. Another example of racism? More lies?

AngeloMysterioso · 24/09/2022 16:03

I think it’s good that it’s coming out, the Sussexes have spent the last few years throwing shit at this country in general and his family and those who work for it in particular, all in the name of “telling their truth”. Well they’ve been awful shits as well and it’s past time the people they were awful to are allowed to tell their truth.

Harry’s book will also come out whether his family likes it or not, and they both will continue to make a buck by slagging off his family to anyone who’ll pay them listen. Why should it all go one way?

Lochroy · 24/09/2022 16:07

I was very much in the anti H&M camp until I heard that it's all briefing against them to avoid people discussing the real reason for the fall out: that Harry had a go at William for having an affair and treating Kate no better than their father had treated Diana.

FWIW, I've always been in the 'oh just jog-on' side of things to do with the stories about W's affair before now, but given the BBC had to pull a Panorama expose because of the Queen's death there must be something in it.

Of course I won't name sources and I know this will therefore me met with compete derision for which I don't blame you, but it does rather make things add up.

SallyLockheart · 24/09/2022 16:11

loch. you are just repeating gossip. why don't you name reputable sources then - it all seems very Meghan-ish, throw out accusations with no factual basis.

Then how do you account for Knauf’s emails / Kelly’s account / HR involvement etc?

Why are you taking it personally? You are not part of the RF. Meghan and Harry have been bullied relentlessly by the media and people in general on social media and otherwise. Only Harry and 72 women in parliament spoke up for Meghan before her wedding. His own family did not defend him.

She has never said anything Horrible about any specific member of the RF and only said lovely things about Elizabeth and Philip. Any difficulties she experienced including some RF family member wearing a controversial brooch etc - those are HER experiences, she is free to say how it made her feel. I am not sure how it offends "the country" - I am not offended, nor does it change my life in any way.

It seems he and another of William's staff are leaking stories / making up things.
Either way the obsession in unreal. What do people fear so much?

SallyLockheart · 24/09/2022 16:18

She has never said anything Horrible about any specific member of the RF - as opposed to throwing unverified accusations at them all?

rockyg · 24/09/2022 16:21

The truth needs out. For too long the goings on in the royal family have been kept under wraps.

Are you referring to Andrew? I would love to know the truth.

Most of what you read about the RF is just gossip! And becomes more embellished when it's repeated on here and elsewhere as people try to justify what they've read.
As for The Times article, they'll have selected which bits to publish to draw people in the buying the book. The author probably won't have done himself any favours with those inside any Royal Circle and won't be privy to any more 'inside information' (if he actually had any reliable info in the first place) and needs to make a fast buck while he can.

Coucous · 24/09/2022 16:27

SallyLockheart · 24/09/2022 16:18

It's HER experience. If I said I am being bullied at work - do I need to provide proof always? Sometimes there is no proof. Do you think people walk around with recording device ready to provide evidence?
We saw Pushy wearing the brooch - it wasn't exactly private. We've seen the media bullies jump on her neck etc - because it sells to talk about M+H.

In the same sense I suppose we could say there's no evidence Andrew did anything wrong - those are all unverified accusations.

cyclamenqueen · 24/09/2022 16:30

There are a lot of Palace insiders who are quoted directly and with attribution in this book . It’s actually a book about the ‘courtiers’ so I think this is their way of getting the story out. Many of the people quoted were so angry that they had threatened to go to avtribunal , maybe this was how they were effectively being given ‘their say’

Coucous · 24/09/2022 16:31

This is just another horrible thread to make way for bashing M+H - so predictable. As soon as the other thread is done they will all come here. Rehashing the same rhetoric

RIPQueen · 24/09/2022 16:32

@Lochroy

the affair happened, but so did meghan’s bad behaviour.

I read that and assumed it was another PR piece from Kensington Palace's new PR team. There has been an extensive series of "fragrant, saintly Cambridges" and "evil foreign harpy" pieces pubished this year. I'd rather have actual news for my sub.

There is zero evidence that the billionaire Wales' have the slightest interest in building bridges with the Sussexes. The York girls might but not the Cambridges.

That’s an interesting take because H & M have also been putting out their own PR blitz, about their “humanitarian” work and also a weird article was in the cut magazine the other week where she basically threatened the royal family by saying she never signed an NDA so she could technically say anything that she wants.

The whole thing is a shit show from both sides, and to be honest I wish they’d ALL shut up and let us get on with other stuff now.

Lockupyourbiscuits · 24/09/2022 16:38

There is no excuse for bullying people beneath you in the pecking order
unfortunately bullies ( male or female )often go for young women as they are seen as easy targets
its despicable and so sad that someone has to leave a job they enjoy due to a bullying boss

PM was rightly criticised for wearing that brooch and I am not aware of anyone having a hood word to say about Andrew so no argument about them.
H and M however are hugely divisive.
