Anyone else think The Times should not be printing extracts from this new book about Royal Courtiers at this time? Incredibly stupid given that H&M are trying to mend fences? I feel really quite cross for everyone involved - William's efforts to build bridges etc, all going to be in vain now. Very naughty.

No. All ignored. Brushed under the carpet.

Well... it would be wouldn't it?

I suspect it will be leaked .

Readinginthesun · 24/09/2022 17:23

Umm , not bully staff , adhere to protocol however daft she found it eg on a visit with HM she was asked to wear a hat and refused. Will that do for starters ?

Sorry, and I'm not taking the p**s but... wear a hat? Is that a crime not to? Would that lead to griping by staff and then claims of bullying by Meghan because she disagreed on something?

I can quite see why she wasn't popular amongst the stick in the mud courtiers, the RF have barely moved on from 1950 and in comes Meghan, an American, who has a strong work ethic and she sees all her staff knocking off at midday! (see one of my links above)

Seriously...... the RF need the biggest shake up imaginable. If it is to survive and not leak support.

Readinginthesun · 24/09/2022 17:24

We can but hope. It deserves to be leaked.

WalkingwithPilgrims · 24/09/2022 17:28

NDA-s do not apply to whistleblowing. Also the NDA will be signed with the palace not with the Sussexes. It would also look horrendous for Meghan to try and enforce or sue on the basis that the employees are subject to NDAs when she herself raised the fact that she can talk because she is not subject to an NDA.

That would just send the message that the privileged benefit from NDA's not ordinary folk.

Arbesque · 24/09/2022 17:30

It seems the royal family don't get off lightly here and come in for their fair share of criticism. A sad tale of privileged people behaving badly. Sadly it appears as if Meghan may have been one of them.

IrisVersicolor · 24/09/2022 17:30

Roussette · 24/09/2022 17:18

And of course Andrew. He is a member of the RF after all. A foul mouthed rant to a member of staff to come down two flights of stairs to move the curtains an inch

There have been 12 official complaints against him about verbally abusive and overbearing behaviour, by staff. His PPO complained 3 times. All ignored.

Ah yes the family nonce whom everyone ignores in favour of abusing MM.

Not forgetting Andrew’s sale of his home for way over its actual value to corrupt Kazakh oligarch, Timur Kulibayev, in a potential money laundering scam. He was also said to be a fixer in Kulibayev's business deals. MPs in January called for an inquiry into the whole affair. Where has that got to? Why doesn’t Tom Bower write a book on that?

SallyLockheart · 24/09/2022 17:33

Iris. Why don't you start your own thread on that rather than start on whataboutery.

clyspa · 24/09/2022 17:34

I find it ridiculous the posters saying H & M are being briefed against.

Look at the silly interviews and podcasts etc H & M do. Eg Ellen with Harry juggling in the background

You don't have to brief against them they are creating the wrong headlines all by themselves.

Also who are the RF trying to turn against H& M that aren't already. Esp now with the goodwill behind them due to the Queens passing

Give your heads a wobble.

It's also very damaging to them all - it's nonsensical that the RF want this in the news day in and out - it's bad PR for all of them.

Charles is king and William Prince of Wales - they have already got it made and don't need to whip up attention or make money

I literally cannot understand why anyone think Charles and William need this at all never mind actively spend their time on this crap.

As for Williams affair - the fact you are talking about it means it wasn't hushed up was it?

It's just bonkers. They are whipping up negative press needlessly for a couple who then retaliate and make them look bad to cover up an affair everyone knows about?

Honestly I wish this would just end already - do any of us really care if we never heard about Harry again?

Roussette · 24/09/2022 17:35

Iris there's far more than that with Andrew. A huge amount of dodgy dealings and back handers spanning decades. I have started many a thread on it but they are not heavily populated.

cyclamenqueen · 24/09/2022 17:36

If they are only paid to work until midway why shouldn’t they finish work then . They are employees not slaves .

Although I have to say that in general my experience is that Americans do struggle to understand our employment practices; paid holiday , paid maternity, sick leave and the fact that firing at will is not possible is pretty baffling to a lot of people from the other side of the Atlantic. Even the nicest ones would consider it perfectly acceptable to ring and hassle someone for having a day off sick and I had terrible problems explaining that you were not allowed to call someone on maternity and demand they returned to the office . So I can imagine cultural differences played a part .

Roussette · 24/09/2022 17:36

What in god's name is the matter with that? Harry can become a professional juggler in the circus if he wants! Grin

Roussette · 24/09/2022 17:37

Ummm... I don't think that was the case actually.

Protocol is that if HM wore a hat , ladies were expected to wear one . MM was accompanying HM on a trip and an aide advised her of this but she refused .
Scoff all you want but if you join the RF you are expected to adhere to the rules .

Readinginthesun · 24/09/2022 17:39

And @Roussette , dragging Andrew into every conversation about H and M is really wearing thin.

Hillcrest2022 · 24/09/2022 17:39

I remember reading an article describing the Royal Family as our 'pets'. They are in their lauded positions but at a price - that we can judge their behaviours and push them up ('Saint Kate') or push them down (Meghan) as pay back.

I'm sure there was bad behaviour all round. I still don't see that it's fair to publish article after article criticising Meghan like she's been reduced to a characeture, not a human who is affected by this barrage of public negativity.

Roussette · 24/09/2022 17:41

Readinginthesun · 24/09/2022 17:39

And @Roussette , dragging Andrew into every conversation about H and M is really wearing thin.

As this is about bullying within the Palace and another member of the RF has been accused of bullying twelve times, I think it is very relevant.
You might not like it but it matters.

clyspa · 24/09/2022 17:43

Quite hillcrest - I agree

But I also agree with the view that this also applies to Meghan and Harry as family she takes swipes at are humans too - right?

Coucous · 24/09/2022 17:46

The simple fact is they didn't want that girl for Harry. If they did they would have made her welcome and made sure she was looked after in every way possible.

It's not just Andrew, Charles, William and other family members involved in dodgy deals with middle easterners, bad behaviour towards staff etc - Only Meghan is on trial.

Why Should Meghan work for the RF if she is unpaid. Didn't they say she needs to go back to Hollywood and act for her money - she wasn't going to be looked after financially by the RF? So why force her to work then and wear silly hats if she didn't want to (not even sure this is true). . . . so effectively a black slave then for the RF?

IrisVersicolor · 24/09/2022 17:46

SallyLockheart · 24/09/2022 17:33

Iris. Why don't you start your own thread on that rather than start on whataboutery.

Interesting to see posts about the royal family on a thread about the royal family spun as whataboutery.

I don't follow celeb news @Rushingfool but I don't really understand your point here.

Surely the Times think publishing the details of their dramas will make them money? Why is it stupid? Why would the times care that someone wouldn't want it published, surely that's true of most celeb gossip?

cyclamenqueen · 24/09/2022 17:47

Also I really would not describe people like Sara Latham , duel US -U.K. citizen and ex managing director of Freuds PR agency , or Sarah McIlwin, youngest ambassador in British history, as ‘debutante girls’ how bloody patronising .

these women are highly successful and highly educated and I very much doubt they ‘knocked if at twelve’ .

You are now being utterly ridiculous. Unpaid ?? You are aware that Harry received millions every year from the Duchy of Cornwall ( that ship has sailed !) .

It’s well known that Royal staff work long hours .

Yes, that's what slavery was like. The silly hats were the worst part but being forced to wave and smile was pretty bad.

Readinginthesun · 24/09/2022 17:50

Anyway , I am sure H and M are on the phone to their lawyers and/ or setting up another OW interview as we speak .
