Anyone else think The Times should not be printing extracts from this new book about Royal Courtiers at this time? Incredibly stupid given that H&M are trying to mend fences? I feel really quite cross for everyone involved - William's efforts to build bridges etc, all going to be in vain now. Very naughty.

Nowhere is this article linked and the times says you just pay to read it! Has anyone got a link to this?

There’s a link on the other thread about are H&M more important with a share token

Valentine Low has tweeted about what he has written and it isn't all that some would expect. The RF are very much at fault too.
It is really worth reading Catherine Mayer's thread that he is commenting on.

This is just another horrible thread to make way for bashing M+H - so predictable. As soon as the other thread is done they will all come here. Rehashing the same rhetoric

This thread is actually discussing some very serious and damaging allegations against Meghan and Harry in today's Times.

It's not just a rehash of other threads.

I don’t think anyone thinks the RF are blameless . They should have managed Meghan’s expectations about Royal life ( but would she have listened?) and Harry should have been more upfront about protocol etc.

TheRubyRedshoes · 24/09/2022 16:50

The whole thing will be absolutely horrendous.

They need crisis talks all of them including Megan.

Charles should do whatever it takes to bring him back into the fold, not as a work royal if Harry/Meghan don't want that but the family fold.

Any protocol stuff/legal stuff should also be thrashed out with all of them legally advised.
Eg the money/funding..so it's all explained properly and there is no room for ambiguity or misinformation./ Interpretation.

Ask them what's their ideal and try and commit to it.

Eg live independently in USA but maybe commit to Prince's trust work a few times a year in representation/ more work that can be done from the USA.

I guess the royals would ask they stop all talking to the media on any personal subject that include the royals.

Harry and Megan free to come and go at will ,Xmas in UK etc and they visit them.

All apologise to each other, especially Charles to Harry.

Kate /. Megan apologies for the sake of their children/cousin's.

Move forward afresh.

I think a bit more than 'managing expectations'. Here's an interview about expectations on MSNBC with the former Editor of the Times. Worth a listen.

No wonder there was a clash of cultures with staff only working till midday. Meghan came in and expected more than that which would not have gone down well at all.

As someone who is strongly anti-monarchy - crisis in the monarchy should suit - but the fact is it’s very very boring.

I haven’t read the Low stuff in the Times as I refuse to read this shit on principle.

However, I couldn’t fail to notice in the past weeks increasingly screechy headlines with all sides briefing against each other. From this I conclude that the palace and particularly Charles do not seem to have learnt from the Diana experience that slinging mud makes all sides look bad.

I’m heartened to see in the Twitter link Catherine Mayer’s comments on the “monstering” of MM. I have never seen anything so disgraceful in my life as the bullying of MM out of the country. And morally, if not literally the mad MM haterz on MN are complicit.

Iusyje · 24/09/2022 17:05

Rainbunny · 24/09/2022 15:34

I think it's only fair that the staff members who feel so badly mistreated and bullied get to have their experiences aired publicly - finally! The investigation and final report conducted by the palace was buried and it appears the staff members were very upset about it. It feels wrong that ANY employee who suffers abuse in their workplace should be made to keep quiet just because their bosses happen to be in the royal family.

It's also clearly far more than just gossip - there were internal emails sent about the situation and a formal investigation launched. Also these staff members made it clear they were ready and willing to testify under oath in the court case between the DM and MM - so we're not talking mere tittle tattle here.

The idea that this is a mean spirited campaign against the Sussexes is perhaps true, but then again who started the long campaign of accusations against the royal family? I think the proof of the pudding will be in whether the famously litigious Sussexes sue over this book.

I don't care about the royals one bit but I do care about bullied employees, having gone through such an experience once in my life. Good for them that they are finding a way to be heard.

How about the many tales of how the late Prince Philip and the now King badly treated staff? Surprised that those staff didn't complain. But somehow Meghan who is new to the family and obviously is in the dark of how things are done, joins the family and immediately feels so much at home as to bully staff? You must be so stupid, yes STUPID!!! to believe that.

They need to sort their shit out as they are making the monarchy and the country look ridiculous.

On the one hand I’m not unhappy if they continue with this unseemly spectacle as it will bring an end to the monarchy all the sooner; on the other they will bore the tits off us all in the process.

The Catherine Mayer thread was very interesting wasn't it. It was balanced and well thought out and looking at the possible other side.

I wish more posters on these threads would read it. Sadly, I don't think they will.

Exactly. Even I know Charles’ valet had to hide in a cupboard to escape his rages.

And black employee of his took Highgrove to tribunal for experiencing awful racism. She lost her case then but I don’t think she’d lose it now, times have changed. I don’t personally doubt her evidence.

DewinDwl · 24/09/2022 17:12

I have read the article. A few things spring to mind:

several former members of staff are quoted, apparently, verbatim, with names and surnames - I am trying to get my head around the fact that these people, who must have signed some sort of NDA, are happy with this. How will this indiscretion affect their future employment prospects?

I wonder if anyone in the RF had any inkling this was coming out

In between the former staff quotes there is A LOT of subjective, biased filler -also things like "insiders say" and "employee 1 said employee 2 had said blah blah blah about MM".

I was going to say this about Charles and rumours surrounding him. Not to mention we've seen him speaking to people.

Apparently William allowed / gave Jason permission to speak against Meghan - it's no wonder they say there's a rift between the brothers.

Roussette · 24/09/2022 17:18

And of course Andrew. He is a member of the RF after all. A foul mouthed rant to a member of staff to come down two flights of stairs to move the curtains an inch

There have been 12 official complaints against him about verbally abusive and overbearing behaviour, by staff. His PPO complained 3 times. All ignored.

cyclamenqueen · 24/09/2022 17:20

Quite Rousette it will be interesting to see how the PA situation is addressed by the book.

It’s far too balanced and intelligent for many posters on here.

I think we all know many people use online kicking as an outlet for their unhappiness. They offload anger and aggression at life at the same time as feeling superior. So truth is not of any interest, or any information that might cast their own activities in a less than flattering light.

What makes you think she didn't know about Royal life?
What did Meghan do which was not in keeping with Royal Life? I didn't see her do anything other Royal wives didn't do. She was swiftly bullied out of the country
after being bullied by the media and the Palace without any support from H's family. What part of Royal life was she supposed to adhere to? Keep quiet and say nothing even in depression and suicidal ideation?

Was there ever a bullying enquiry?

Lockupyourbiscuits · 24/09/2022 17:22

It doesn’t look good for anyone to be accused of bullying

If a person allegedly bullies young women but professes to be a feminist- (in fact it’s their brand) it looks really really bad

I have no idea where the truth lies but I do feel the employees have a right to be heard

I’m sure the best thing would have been to sort this out at the time through correct procedures rather than let it fester

My personal opinion is someone was following their spouse’s lead

Readinginthesun · 24/09/2022 17:23

Umm , not bully staff , adhere to protocol however daft she found it eg on a visit with HM she was asked to wear a hat and refused. Will that do for starters ?

Well... it would be wouldn't it?
