Do you think it would be okay to do my washing and hang it out tomorrow (the day of the Queen’s state funeral), if I stick to blacks?

OP posts:

FFS do whatever you like.
It's not North Korea luv.
Although it's starting to bloody feel like it.
Get a bloody grip

I've been working today, so the washing machine is going in. As long as you're not doing anything unrespectful, it'll be fine. To put thing in prospective, it'll be 26 years day tomorrow that we buried my Dad, and even on the day we had a laugh preparing the food in the morning, had his favourite music on in the afternoon.

OP what would the royals be doing if you were at the funeral of your loved one?………………..exactly

Well, I am pretty sure that they didn’t do their laundry on the day of my DM or DF’s funerals, I expect they have staff for that sort of thing.

You just have to make sure your washing line is at half mast

I’m having my bathroom ripped out.

It’s what she would have wanted.

😂😂😂😂😂

But there is nothing worse than a rotary washing line at half mast 😂😂

Bordesleyhills · 18/09/2022 17:31

Husband swapped his mowing job from tomorrow to today just to make sure the neighbours don’t complain. However with a 3 year old I don’t think sitting and watching the funeral is a serious option. Will dip in and out.

Stravaig · 18/09/2022 17:32

Well I'm going to be washing towels, very brightly coloured towels, riotously joyful towels with giant flowers in red and pink and turquoise and lime. I expect they will take all day to dry.

I’ll be hanging mine out multi coloured!

Can you not arrange it red , white, blue. Or yellow and red like the royal standard?

I have just made a batch of scones which were going to be for tomorrow but which have turned out so delicious I think they will gone long before the ceremony……. But in deference I am only serving them with blackberry jam.

Hintofreality · 18/09/2022 17:33

Fornication in the missionary position only tomorrow, and strictly only after the formal burial.

DisforDarkChocolate · 18/09/2022 17:34

I'll be washing if the weather is good too. Its a grey duvet cover so I should be safe from any random royalists determined to be offended.

I'll also be cleaning the loo and cooking a roast. Anyone offended is welcome to do them for me.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 18/09/2022 17:35

I, for one, have spent the afternoon tying black ribbon on my clothes pegs so even though my washing is on the line the neighbours will see that I have paying due respect to the Statty Funes.

The world’s gone fucking mad!! 🙄

WilsonMilson · 18/09/2022 17:36

We’re having a bbq. Not with friends. Might as well make the most of the holiday. Rib eye steaks and dauphinoise. Lovely.

It’s what she would have wanted.

Vinylloving · 18/09/2022 17:36

Sweet jesus this has to be a joke

I live this thread!

Do you think I should have stern words with DS who is planning on spending the whole day on his Xbox as a new game is coming out?

pink85 · 18/09/2022 17:43

Congrats op you're hilarious 🙄🙃

Definitely not. Grief impacts in different ways. Get him a litre bottle of Tango and some Skittles, he'll be fine.

FourChimneys · 18/09/2022 17:49

Whites on Saturdays.
Darks on Sundays.
Coloureds on Mondays.

All my clothes pegs are brightly coloured too. Not sure I can be bothered to paint them black.

But I'm climbing a hill and going paddle boarding first so the washing won't be out until later.

Someone's been snitching

Whatsthepointofmosquitos · 18/09/2022 17:51

Do whatever you want.

Testina · 18/09/2022 17:56

Jesus wept. If you stick to blacks?
It would be funny if it wasn’t tragic.
Make sure to only pee tomorrow, and hold in any disrespectful poo.

Seriously? We’re going to the beach to scatter our dogs ashes, never crossed my mind that this wasn’t OK - is it a huge faux pas? Should we just be staying in?

Sounds perfectly in keeping, given that the Queen herself loved dogs so much.

Sorry for your loss, btw. Hope the beach brings you comfort.

If anyone is genuinely worried about what they should or shouldn't do, scattering your dog's ashes on a beach must be in the top 5 of the list of acceptability.

Ah I'm so sorry. That has somewhat inspired me to make an impromptu trip to scatter some ashes myself tomorrow. Hope it goes OK 🌈
