Do you think it would be okay to do my washing and hang it out tomorrow (the day of the Queen’s state funeral), if I stick to blacks?

I shall be crying into my cuppa as all good subjects should be.

Hugasauras · 18/09/2022 16:28

We are going to soft play 🤷‍♀️

maddiemookins16mum · 18/09/2022 16:28

Crikey, we’re off on hols next Saturday, I’m spending most of the day sorting stuff (washing etc) with the telly on in the background.

User1754983 · 18/09/2022 16:28

DH stinky sports kit will be washed tomorrow as usual after the weekend

I’m having my bathroom ripped out.

It’s what she would have wanted.

@ShirleyJackson 🤣

Respectfullydisagree · 18/09/2022 16:28

This is absolutely hilarious. What do you think the dear old lady would have wanted? I’m sure she would want you to dry your washing! You go for it. But do it sadly mind!

Pubs are open

Local one to us is opening when they don't normally. They are doing a special breakfast menu and then will be showing the funeral.

Dd is off clubbing in the evening as it's first week back at university and her and friends have tickets. Club hasn't cancelled, and buses and trains are running as normal apparently.

I'll probably work. Spent my Sunday moving Dd into her house for the year so will need to do my prep and work jobs that I normally do on a Sunday afternoon tomorrow. Will probably do some in the morning whilst watching the funeral. I can definitely say that the work won't be too exciting or fun to do during the programme.

I've decided to turn out the kitchen cupboards. Been meaning to do it for ages and now quite looking forward to it.

jennakong · 18/09/2022 16:33

Are you planning on washing a lineful of Morrissey tshirts or something? Weird post.

Or Sex Pistols t-shirts?

DillDanding · 18/09/2022 16:35

Stressofherregard · 18/09/2022 16:35

Only if you hang it at half mast.

CookieCoo · 18/09/2022 16:37

Thanks for the laughs. I’m hoping you’re taking the piss 😂 Definitely do your usual rainbow coloured wash

Stressybetty · 18/09/2022 16:38

We do dog boarding, daycare etc and have a few changeovers tomorrow. Someone asked if we are open tomorrow, we are open every day of the year, that's the point surely!

RiftGibbon · 18/09/2022 16:39

Seriously? In the nicest possible way, why do you think anyone would care whether or not you hang washing out?

I'm getting really frustrated by the absolutely nosnsensical rhetoric that getting on with the things you need to do is somehow disrespectful.

I never met HM and have no interest in the Royal family. When anyone near and dear to me has died, practically nobody else has given a shit, and I've carried on doing the things that needed to be done, despite my sadness at the time, because the things needed to be done. It wasn't a matter of respect. My dead relatives wouldn't have cared if I'd hung washing out or not, other than likely urged me to make the most of the dry weather.

embolass · 18/09/2022 16:40

OP what would the royals be doing if you were at the funeral of your loved one?………………..exactly

notprincehamlet · 18/09/2022 16:40

It's ok to hang out washing but not while wearing your wedding dress

Antarcticant · 18/09/2022 16:42

No, absolutely not. The Queen will look down from the rainbow bridge and order Paddington and six corgis to drag your washing off the line and into a muddy puddle.

WeepingSomnambulist · 18/09/2022 16:42

We're meeting friends in the park for a picnic. Didnt even cross my mind that this could he offensive.

@Mumofteens4 You need to get a grip.

Starlightstarbright1 · 18/09/2022 16:43

I have washing out today and will tomorrow as i am back at work Tuesday

verdantverdure · 18/09/2022 16:44

abovedecknotbelow · 18/09/2022 15:59

Seriously?? Come on op.

We do live in a country where some people were absolutely livid that the Queen's grandson's wife held her husband's hand so apparently perfectly normal behaviour can cause serious offence to those who are looking for a reason to be offended.

Topseyt123 · 18/09/2022 16:44

🤣🤣🤣

I really can't see this as a serious question. Why should anyone give a shiny shit about who has put washing on the line or what colour it is?

In this house we'll have the funeral on the TV, but if a load of washing needs to go on and/or be hung out then that will also be done. I would consider anyone who decided to take offence at that to be just too ridiculous for words!

MrsWombat · 18/09/2022 16:44

I need to mow my lawn. Is it ok to do this after the funeral? (And I say this as someone who completed The Queue)

Foldingchair · 18/09/2022 16:46

Pubs opening at 10 round here, for the full experience. Bet weitherspoon wishes they had tellies now.
