Why are H&M "less important" now?

Let's not make this a bashing thread!
But in another thread yesterday it occured to me that the way I see it, I just get the sense that with the queens death they almost drop a rank. But that doesnt make sense? If anything shouldn't they now feel more important? Now that her majesty has gone it just feels like they become more distant somehow. Could it be to do with the passing of a generation, so they are no longer "the youth"?

By the way this isnt based on any facts or anything I've read, just a feeling on it. Can anyone explain? Am I right or wrong?

Why should it have? You've managed not to tell me why YOU found it shocking

because of the sheer number of allegations, made by many different people, all of whom are named.

anyone not shocked at the behaviour reported - well, let’s just say I don’t think many people would want to work with a person who found that acceptable behaviour.

BigBamBoom · 23/09/2022 19:00

It must have been pretty insulting to the Archbishop of Canterbury for MM to convert to CoE and then say her church wedding was just a spectacle, and that she considered another ceremony as her actual marriage. Not unlike parents converting to a religion just to get into a certain school.

I think we've heard Harry and Meghan's side numerous times haven't we!

H&M have never spoken up about the staff harassment and bullying. The papers were full of them abusing her and calling her names. It was very distressing especially while she was pregnant.

TrashyPanda · 23/09/2022 18:56

She's also American. Probably not as hung up on the term as you lot seem to be

yes, we know it shows cultural ignorance. That’s well established. She should have taken a bit more time and effort to learn about the country she was getting married in.

but let’s not forget that this is an educated woman, in her thirties who has been married once already.

It’s more than a little disingenuous to suggest that she does not know fine well what “marriage” and “wedding”. Specially as the Archbishop stated he had several pre wedding meetings with them. It would be astonishing if he had not gone over the service and what it means.

I'm pretty sure the definition of 'marriage' is much the same in America as it is in Britain.

If marriage wasn't a legal contract, but instead just a 'union' with 'private vows' in the back yard, why did Meghan need to bother getting divorced from her first husband?

Serenster · 23/09/2022 19:01

Yes. And Meghan and Harry presumably passed on the information about some of the Palace staff that appeared in Finding Freedom (where some of the staff members were criticised AND named) wholly relying on the fact that the other side of the story would never get told. At least now the private citizens that were smeared by Omid Scobie are getting a chance to tell their side too.

You've still not managed to nail ONE down for me. Come on, it's not that hard.

They said it was “another distressing smear,” but never actually denied it.

Meghan has never spoken about staff, ever, though. I mean they got shook she was going to talk about them on Oprah and went on the offensive. She paid them dust.

That in itself is suspicious to me as they are always firing off 'truth bombs' - why not about this also?

Of course, it's a smear but Meghan has never directly spoken about the staff themselves. Unless i'm missing something.

Angry black woman bully is so played out by the way.

Buckingham Palace banned ethnic minorities from office roles, papers reveal

These people also claimed to Tominey of the Telegraph that they signed up to work for the Queen not a cable actress.

They hated taking orders from mixed race woman who they found to be beneath them.

Here’s two for you - verbally belittling an employee in front of other people is clear bullying as a matter of law (viz Meghan telling her employee in a meeting that she would rather anyone redo the necessary work rather than her - also generally an allegation that can be easily investigated as you can talk to the other people at the meeting.

Constantly ringing an a player on their mobile outside of office hours and shouting at them = bullying and harassment as a matter of law (viz Meghan and Harry ringing someone repeatedly when out for dinner on a Friday night, also likely to be easy to investigate if you get both side’s phone records).

That's the shocking bullying 😂

No wonder the investigation was not released. Utter drivel.

The Kardashians get a lot of 'traction' on social media.

I wouldn't say that makes them 'important' other than as gossip fodder.

They certainly are important to the people that take time to follow and discuss them. It’s not logical that a person would invest considerable time in an activity that they did not have to do if they had no interest in it. Many of us go to work to sustain our basic needs – food, shelter etc. I would suggest for the majority it is not a choice. There is no necessity to post on online platforms about a person that has no significance – so the question is, if Meghan and Harry are neither relevant nor important to you, what is the motivation for the action?

Rapidtango · 23/09/2022 19:10

I have, I swear. Multiple times.

I see a bunch of racists ganging up to make a black woman look like a bully because they couldn't do their jobs and hated taking orders.

They've said to Tominey that they didn't sign up to work for a cable actress.

Samantha Cohen who went to work for Boris Johnson (flopped as he's now out of a job). A revolving door of racist Tories, Simon Case et al

I'm a Team Lead with diverse staff. Maybe if my team were full of tories who hated working for a woman of colour. Meh.

Has not been published. In other words buried.

Why don't they release it?

These people are happy to talk to Low, surely they won't mind the report being released.

King Charles still wants to have a relationship with his son, releasing a report that says his wife is a bully into the public domain will end any chance of that happening. I expect the staff have been reassured privately and the palace's Bullying & Harassment procedures have been updated appropriately and it's been left there.

Like I said, they are 'important' in the sense that they are good gossip fodder. But so are the Kardashians and various others who incite lots of interest on social media. It's always the more 'controversial' royals, from Margaret to Diana to Sarah Ferguson, who attract this sort of attention. However, in the constitutional sense, they are of no importance, which is what I believe previous posters were saying.

She personally did? someone who was in labour or just through with childbirth was coordinating their own PR?, please don't let hate blind you.

Also say what you really want to say with your chest.

Nobody seems to struggle with timings and definitions quite as much as M. It must be quite hard living in her world - they both seem completely bonkers, actually, and we are all paying the price.

I think the issue is that this would hurt William and Kate and they need to keep a clean slate as next in line. If he protects Harry it back fires for William.

In what way would it hurt William, has he been accused of bullying? Have I missed something?

Nonsense. The staff can't have been reassured enough if they went to speak with Low. Not buying it. They are clearly still mad and want the report published. The Palace should stop being so shy.

Is it the same Prince Charles telling the Daily Beast that he wanted to exile Harry??
