Harry should be allowed to wear military uniform

Regardless of what anyone thinks of him or him no longer being a senior working Royal he should be fully entitled to wear his military uniform. He fought on the front line, he’d would have stayed in the army if the press hadn’t put him and other soldiers at risk, he has done so much for veterans, far more than anyone else in the royal family. His military uniform was earned not bestowed on him as an honorary title, yet he’s not allowed to wear it to his grandmothers funeral.

Harry making a statement about it is a really ill-advised PR move IMO.

The statement where he says we must concentrate on the funeral?

Anyway, they did a u-turn, he is also going to wear a uniform.

Caving to public sentiment? By doing something that was first mentioned as a potential part of the plans days ago?

Very bizarre.

I’d be surprised to see viscount Severn take part in tbt vigil. 14 is very young for that. Wouldn’t be surprised so see the 7 older grandchildren and Earl Snowdon, or Lady Sarah Chatto.

I don’t think this is remotely a U-turn - there was no “Grandchildren’s vigil” announced as part of the funeral plans originally (I don’t think it’s been formally confirmed yet, even?). Now that one is apparently happening, Harry is to be accorded the same uniform privileges as his uncle for the vigil. And I think that’s the right call.

I imagine the Queen’s four children would have let her know in advance that they wanted to do a vigil as was done for the Queen Mother, and so it was included by her in the official plan (along with presumably her wishes for Andrew’s dress). Given the young age of two of her grandchildren (14 and 18) I can’t imagine the Queen would have said that she wanted them to do a vigil too. Equally, I can well imagine her grandchildren telling the King and the Palace that they want to do a vigil of their own. And so, at a later stage it is arranged, with the same dress arrangements applied.
