Harry should be allowed to wear military uniform

Regardless of what anyone thinks of him or him no longer being a senior working Royal he should be fully entitled to wear his military uniform. He fought on the front line, he’d would have stayed in the army if the press hadn’t put him and other soldiers at risk, he has done so much for veterans, far more than anyone else in the royal family. His military uniform was earned not bestowed on him as an honorary title, yet he’s not allowed to wear it to his grandmothers funeral.

So much misunderstanding on this thread.

Andrew is only wearing uniform to the vigil. Harry isn't going to be at the vigil. There is no comparison to be made here. For the funeral neither will wear uniform.

Snugglemonkey · 14/09/2022 08:15

I am not bothered about whether Harry does or doesn't. I am much more annoyed that Andrew will. He is a disgrace to the uniform.

That seems fair enough then. Maybe they'll hide him round the back.

Well quite. But if people read the facts they can’t make snide comments.

At occasions when Harry and Andrew are both present neither will wear uniform.

Harry isn’t at the vigil because no grandchildren are invited.

@sidewayswalking

The fact is people are annoyed because Andrew is!
Doesn't matter - vigil or not

Harry not being allowed just adds fuel to the flames

LittleBearPad · 14/09/2022 08:19

Maybe listening Omid Scobie isn’t the best way to get your information…

themessygarden · 14/09/2022 08:19

I think Harry should be allowed wear his uniform. It is exceptional circumstances, and there could have been an exception made for him.

Can you read my comment again?

The Queen didn't want him to. She should get what she wants at her own funeral.

SpinCityBlues · 14/09/2022 08:21

Well, it it's pissing people off it's pissing people off. It's the look of the thing, as the Dowager would say in Downton Abbey.

@sidewayswalking
What is your point ?

People are perfectly aware that Andrew is wearing his dressing up clothes at the vigil not the funeral

You are nitpicking .

It's a misstep and another incident of pandering to Andrew
It is already backfiring thank goodness

People are not aware though, it's clear from this thread that some people had no idea.

Don't accuse me of nit picking for pointing out the facts.

Let's not bring facts and reality into this thread, people will miss out on all of the frothing over nothing!

SpinCityBlues · 14/09/2022 08:26

I sincerely hope that the Queen hasn't left a long list of 'Andrew pandering' instructions. The thought of further Andy Pandying from beyond the grave is not pleasant.

Novella4 · 14/09/2022 08:26

Whether people are aware of vigil / funeral doesn't matter and won't matter and won't matter in the long term .
Andrew is wearing his uniform
That is the mistake .

Bootsandcat · 14/09/2022 08:27

You can’t wear the uniform when you’re no longer serving

Nah I imagine it's just the funeral. Then after that she's done with her instructions. Charles can boot him out to a tiny flat somewhere in London where people can keep an eye on him.

Where should Harry have been allowed to wear his uniform - the funeral?

Imagine the frothing if Andrew followed the gun carriage in a naval uniform, which he would have a right to do if Harry was wearing his uniform.

Umbrelleh · 14/09/2022 08:32

To be fair to Andrew he did a full 22 years, he was in active combat and people who served with him said they respected him. If he wears his uniform for a small segment of the ridiculousness of this week who really cares. There are plenty of even still serving personnel who are a disgrace to the unform as they're let off scot free.

He’s less trouble in tucked away in Windsor Great Park.

derxa · 14/09/2022 08:37

This is what happens at funerals. People try and make it all about them. Harry and Andrew should just do what's easier for Prince Charles. But they won't.

hewouldwouldnthe · 14/09/2022 08:46

ohfook · 14/09/2022 07:49

Yes he definitely should. There is only one royal who would bring shame on the uniform if he wears it and it's not Harry.

So it's not shameful to tell lies (along with your darling wife) about your family especially at a time your grandmother is grieving the loss of her husband?

GyozaGuiting · 14/09/2022 08:50

I’m a military veteran I would personally much rather Harry did; he served in Afghanistan and has done so much for the armed forces family, he’s very well regarded amongst the forces community. I worked with him and he’s a great guy.

There’s a term in the forces, you can’t ‘bring it into disrepute’, Andrew has done this, on an international scale. I don’t want him in uniform, it makes a mockery of it. A normal service person involved with Epstein and out of court settlements would be chucked out.

I know people who served with Andrew and he was not respected, just what I’ve heard. He tried to be different and some of the stories are shockingly entitled.
