Feeling sorry for the Duchess of Sussex

It must be so surreal for her to be caught in everything that is happening at the moment. I know H&M are controversial to say the least but they came here to do a feel good tour and are now caught up in everything that's going on. If I were Meghan, I'd travel back to the US to be with my dc and leave Harry with trusted family and aids. It was odd that the Sussexes said they'd both travel to Balmoral and the media now say that King Charles said that Meghan wouldn't be welcome. I can understand why as only close family attendee's Balmoral.

To sum it up, I feel sorry for both Harry and Meghan, I think they are out of their depth. Their autobiography will be interesting.

Almost 30 pages of hate, full of baseless assumptions when she hasn’t even said anything

The hate is coming from across the pond.

Hasn't said anything? You've been under a rock for the past year.

Andrew- is the Queen's son. I think it would have been more of a talking point if he'd been banned by his siblings from appearing today at church, although I think it would have been more diplomatic to go back to the castle rather than join a public walkabout.

But, start your own thread bout him if you wish.

*leave Harry with trusted family and aids. That should read trusted friends (Freudian typo) but maybe Eugenie and Beatrix can also support Harry, they must all feel somewhat more remote to the crown now.

It's Beatrice, not Beatrix.

If you know so little about the Royal family, why have you posted?

This is the crux of it. There has to be a good reason for creating all of this chaos...surely?

Well not always! Sometimes it really is the case of fragile egos

Mummyoflittledragon · 10/09/2022 17:14

H&M declined an open invitation from his father and HMQ then expected to make good on it when HMQ was dying not realising how that would look. The dying person then immediate children’s wishes trump Harry’s.

A little bit like Princess Diana, she wasn't aware of the reality of the responsibilities she would have. Basically, she was naiive.

I think she was naive in that she thought she would be the absolute centre of attention as a fairytale princess - 'what Meghan wants Meghan gets' etc. When she realised it was an actual job and she had to defer to higher ranking royals she couldn't handle it.

bloodyplanes · 10/09/2022 17:15

Also if Meghan has such a problem with the royals why does she continue to use and monetise her titles? To all those saying that she didn't know what was expected of her, its simply not true. She was given very experienced courtiers to help her learn the ropes and protocol etc, she simply refused to do as was expected of her. It has been well documented in books and media.

I believe so.

But I wouldn’t take any side strongly, for a member of the public to hate or love either side, when you don’t know everything that has happened seems ridiculous to me. But people do it all the time with the royals and celebs. It’s weird. You don’t have a clue about any of it really.

Bollocks. Diana was a 19 yo, sheltered aristo. with little meaningful formal education under her belt when she married. Meghan Markle was a working woman in her late 30s, with an excellent education (in IR no less) who had lived and work abroad, been married before and actively engaged with global level organisations.

I hope M&H are happy together and hope that at least H can reconcile with his family.

What I find amazing about M is the utter untruths she comes out with without seeming to care a jot. Archie isn't a prince because he is mixed race - no not true and that is now proven ( inter alia )

I don't think any criticism of M is about her race etc , it is because she tells untruths and appears to be using the RF to create the lifestyle she wants ( because they are worth money to her )

I do feel for H rather as I think at this time when his Granny has just died , the support of his family would be good and he seems to not be embracing that.

But I don't know any of these people.

I am sad the Queen is gone - it's a cliche but she did seem to be a stable person one could not imagine not being their any longer. All best to Charles & hope he steps into her "little" shoes

Have you had a fallout with a member of your family where you have been wronged, where they have said disgusting things about hour partner and children? I have. And I can say very strongly that when someone dies, it doesn’t change a thing. It’s not for me to ‘make things right‘. They brought it on themselves. Just because it’s the royals and everyone has an opinion, it’s no different to every other family.

Harry and Meghan are at windsor

Erm..thanks for letting me know. 😬

They automatically have titles unless Charles issues new Letters Patent.

No they don't as they were not born as the monarchs grandchildren. In the past members of the RF have kept their titles/status from birth, Prince Michael, Princess Alexandra, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice despite no longer being the grandchildren of the monarch. To make Harry's chiildren Prince and Princess would need a change.

Festoonlights · 10/09/2022 17:21

It is quite something to see them together

Mummyoflittledragon · 10/09/2022 17:21

Just seen the 4 together. I do hope this is the end of all upset.

Festoonlights · 10/09/2022 17:22

BBC now

MissMarpleRocks · 10/09/2022 17:22

They are together now on Sky TV 🙏

mateysmum · 10/09/2022 17:23

If grief brings H & W back together again, that will be the Queen's last great gift.

Festoonlights · 10/09/2022 17:23

Well wouldn’t that be a miracle if this somehow shifted things!

HappyHamsters · 10/09/2022 17:23

William, Kate, Harry and Megan are at Windsor looking at the flowers.

Mummyoflittledragon · 10/09/2022 17:24

Yes @mateysmum I do hope so. Maybe she tried very hard to hang on until they arrived in the U.K.

queenofarles · 10/09/2022 17:24

Oh I do hope it’s a new page for them all. They are family .

Festoonlights · 10/09/2022 17:24

Meghan looks nervous - she keeps moving her hair. Are they actually speaking.
