It feels like we're being slowly prepared for her passing away. I feel unexpectedly tearful.

In terms of the people we think are there, obviously her children and their spouses are there as you would expect. Also William because he has a key constitutional role. He will become the heir apparent and Prince of Wales.
I don't think any of the other grandchildren are there - unless anybody knows differently.

Kate's at home with the children as they went back to school today.

workiskillingme · 08/09/2022 16:30

@GhostFromTheOtherSide it won't be days. The family all arriving now in quick succession means things are imminent

Good grief

Her 15th PM Liz Truss born in 1975
Her 1st PM Winston Churchill born in 1874

She covers more than a century.

💔

There is a BA flight due to land at Aberdeen shortly which could be carrying other royals I guess

It was all pretty awful actually, the big C, there was always one of us with her until my brother popped to the loo, and that's the moment she chose. We laugh about it now, it was a very long time ago.

My mum did that as well. Four days at her bedside in the high dependency unit and when I nipped out to the loo after hanging on as long as I could that particular morning she decided ‘ now’s my chance’. ❤️

I hope she remains comfortable and has her family around her in the next few days. She's the only monarch I've ever known in my lifetime.

Me too. I keep tearing up even though as a youngster I wasn’t that bothered with the RF either way. As I’ve got older I’ve become more appreciative of her and her amazing sense of duty and have felt for her these last few years with the extra stress. I feel really upset and I don’t care if the superior posters on MN who ‘can’t understand why people get upset over a stranger’ find that odd - I’d rather be sad about this than smug about my incomprehension of it.

But this could actually go on ffor days.

Did her father's Dr send him off swiftly with some morphine and heroin when it was clearly the end so he'd have a swift death? I imagine if this is the coverage, they're already at that point and she won't be allowed to just wither for days leaving us EFFECTIVELY without a monarch.

Yes, I just read that, like 720 mg of morphine and a gram of cocaine.

So it’s said, and I think that was he way of it in those days.

MrsMitford3 · 08/09/2022 16:36

I have heard from media contacts that she has died and the announcement will be at 6pm

DutchessOfMuck · 08/09/2022 16:37

Sorry the previous poster made me lol. Theres no way horses would take the Queen from Balmoral to Holyrood that would take days and the roads are old and narrow. Balmoral to Edinburgh is hours in a car never mind a horse.

They're not superior at all; they're trying to be smart alecs or lacking in empathy.

His death was hastened so it could be announced in the morning papers.

Privileged, even in death.

Indeed, meanwhile the rest of us are like minions waiting for "the boss" aka Huw Edwards to announce it.

I know nobody of importance or inside knowledge 🙁 I'll have to expand my social circle ....

Oh no, has it started already? Is Kay Burley there interviewing them?
