We're being prepared aren't we? Message about the Queen being under medical supervision

It feels like we're being slowly prepared for her passing away. I feel unexpectedly tearful.

I agree. Dying in extreme old age without a major deterioration in mental acuity is fairly rare and a fortunate way to die.

Yes yes yes. 💐 To all those who have lost parents or siblings in awful circumstances and I include myself in that

The fact she was stood smiling two days ago is blessed

SleepingStandingUp · 08/09/2022 16:05

I hope Liz Truss was able to reassure her of things during her visit the other day I mean perhaps by declaring "I'm not Boris in disguise" but I doubt LT taking over the Premiership meant the Queen though wow, country's safe now!

And I bet that was the way that your Great Grandmother would've wanted it?

It’s definitely the way I want it when my time comes.

sunglassesonthetable · 08/09/2022 16:06

You know full well the speculation has gone way beyond that. We know that there are serious concerns re the queen’s health, and the fact that the BBC has suspended programming is fairly indicative that it’s serious. But all the speculation as to when it will happen/that it already has, and that there will be an announcement at 6 PM is really quite unpleasant.

I think it's parr for the course. Queen as far back as anyone can remember? Of course there's speculation.

No I don't find it unpleasant. I'd find it really odd if there wasn't intense interest.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 08/09/2022 16:07

There is so much factually wrong with your post, but in the spirit of this thread I won't pull it to pieces

Oh go on. I'm sure you can overcome any scruples if you have a point you really want to make.

Incidentally - journalist has just said that HM's latest PM was born 101 years after her first, who received his military commission from Queen Victoria. That is some record.

sunglassesonthetable · 08/09/2022 16:08

Yep Huw Edwards has the black tie on. They mean business.

longtimemarried · 08/09/2022 16:09

Am feeling very sad, as a child I watched her Coronation on tv, feel as if I am losing an old friend.

Dragoned · 08/09/2022 16:09

Where are M&H? Not on the royal plane?

LolaLolaLolas · 08/09/2022 16:09

If the BBC presenters do already know, then they're doing very well in not making any references to HMQ in the past tense.

Brilliant way to do it. Now if you'd made an effort and had another three they could have had a month each.

@ thinkingblonde - I love it 😂

@ancientgran - nice one 😂

That was a wee bit before my time but she’s been a very comforting presence in my lifetime also.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 08/09/2022 16:11

I've just cancelled my TV licence because we never watch live TV so now can't see the news

Hopefully she'll go peacefully.

ancientgran · 08/09/2022 16:11

When the time comes I don't want the whole family sitting round the bed waiting for me to go. I've told them already they can come and say goodbye when the time is near but no sitting round the bed, I don't like being watched. My ideal would be doing what our cat did, go and curl up behind the sofa and get found when it is over. Good job I'm not the Queen.

GhostFromTheOtherSide · 08/09/2022 16:11

Thing is, how long can the bbc drag out this news bulletin?

They are clearly expecting some news soon but it could take significant time to happen just because it often does.

Now that they’ve seen the planes what now?

SleepingStandingUp · 08/09/2022 16:11

Dragoned · 08/09/2022 16:09

If they've come over from Germany they prob wouldn't go to meet the others first.

EL8888 · 08/09/2022 16:12

Not long now. Definitely an end of an era

No I don’t think they do know anything.

Nicolas Wichell confirmed that this is clearly serious and concerning, but has reiterated that they have been told nothing more than that.

thebabessavedme · 08/09/2022 16:14

My elderly mother is now having 'mobility issues', I am not really very hopeful of her seeing next spring (or perhaps not even xmas) the truth of the elderly having 'mobility issues' is pretty horrific, my mothers physical state is now pitiful and is breaking my heart, she has a sharp mind and is very unhappy - tbh if the Queen is in the same state I hope this will be a quick departure, as I wish for my mum

probably not enough room for the Netflix crew

TwinGirlsOnTheWay · 08/09/2022 16:16

Horse box just arrived at Balmoral and the BBC cut very quickly from the news - once Edward and Andrew have arrived at Balmoral I would assume the news will be broken

They arrived in the UK yesterday.

Could you not give it a rest? Just once?
It shows little respect to the family, just harping on about M&H

Travellingwomble · 08/09/2022 16:18

They're waiting for the whole family to be in situ. All journalists have their insiders. They know already. Sadly I think she is gone already.
