It feels like we're being slowly prepared for her passing away. I feel unexpectedly tearful.

Someone said they can't concentrate on anything. I'm the same and I have a darn phone interview shortly. That will be interesting.

Florelei · 08/09/2022 15:14

My Google homepage went black temporarily. I adore the queen and her devotion to our country. I will be very sad if she has passed.

PurpleFlower1983 · 08/09/2022 15:14

She has obviously gone. What a day in history.

Would it be better if they kept it quiet and told everyone a few days down the road and the newspapers put a note on page 4 and that was it?

There's a middle ground.

Neither royalist nor republican myself, I can
only relate on a simple human level.
I saw her latest picture and it shocked me;
how tiny she now looks, how incredibly fragile
and yet still with her trademark warm smile.

I've no bloody clue what H&M are up to now
but nothing they've been doing for the past 3 years
could have helped the Queen to "keep calm and
carry on".
Twats.

She's a 96yo woman. She doesn't need to keep calm and carry on. Let's be honest not many people make it to 96, it's quite normal to not make it past your late 90s and we can't blame it on H&M (either the grandson or the shop)

Harry and the Queens relationship is their business not yours.

A private RAF jet en route to Aberdeen on Flight Radar. Wonder if it's William or a politician?

I'm the same. Currently 12:15am here in Australia and I need to be up in 5 hours for work but can't seem to put my phone down and go to sleep.

WalkingOnTheCracks · 08/09/2022 15:16

The media are like vultures waiting for her to die.

And what are we, hanging out here?

CaramelTwirl · 08/09/2022 15:16

There was always going to be lots of waffle on the TV. They could hardly ignore the queens death or imminent death.

DillDanding · 08/09/2022 15:17

Yes! 😂

PostmortemNow · 08/09/2022 15:17

@Roussette
"I was just waiting for someone to blame the Queen's death on them.
Show some respect to the family and button it."

I'm not blaming anyone.
Read my post carefully first.
As for your instructions to "show respect and button it"
I'm afraid I do NOT take instructions from anybody,
least of all random strangers online.
Clear?

Don't usually pay it much attention, but there's no Google Doodle on the Google UK homepage at the moment.

CousinKrispy · 08/09/2022 15:17

Thank you @WalkingOnTheCracks , that was lovely.

SleepingStandingUp · 08/09/2022 15:18

She's lived through worse than a bratty grandson. She's old. They're not culpable for her dying of old age.

TwinGirlsOnTheWay · 08/09/2022 15:18

Armed police are now stood outside Balmoral..

@workworkworkugh I'm in Australia, too, and I am surprised they're making it look so serious on Mumsnet and there is literally little comment on our media, not even ABC full coverage, only channel 7 is covering it non-stop but even the mood doesn't sound like she's gone already or about to be gone. So I'm a bit confused.

NanaNelly · 08/09/2022 15:20

Why do we need to be prepared for the death of someone we don’t know?

Because some of us will be very sad the Queen may be very close to passing away and (I for one) will be glad of the time to think about her and reflect on the woman she has been in her lifetime.

I think the sadness is something people will either understand or they won’t.

dementedma · 08/09/2022 15:20

Military here in Scotland very busy here right now.

Dragoned · 08/09/2022 15:20

Huw Edwards doesn’t sound great does he?

The BBC has scrapped their regular schedule. All reporters are incredibly sombre and wearing black. It doesn't bode well.

PatientlyWaiting21 · 08/09/2022 15:21

I think she has already passed and there will be an announcement at 6.

QforCucumber · 08/09/2022 15:21

@CatsandFish all BBC programming ahs been stopped and all Royals gathering at Balmoral, Newsreaders all in Black and all news outlets focussed for an 'update'

They'd not do any of that if she was having a down day.

CatsandFish · 08/09/2022 15:21

@workworkworkugh Nothing even on ABC 24, except business coverage. So maybe she hasn't gone yet and it's not that serious.

Aren't they usually?

They've not been for most of the time I've been watching
