We're being prepared aren't we? Message about the Queen being under medical supervision

It feels like we're being slowly prepared for her passing away. I feel unexpectedly tearful.

Someone said they can't concentrate on anything. I'm the same and I have a darn phone interview shortly. That will be interesting.

My Google homepage went black temporarily. I adore the queen and her devotion to our country. I will be very sad if she has passed.

She has obviously gone. What a day in history.

There's a middle ground.

She's a 96yo woman. She doesn't need to keep calm and carry on. Let's be honest not many people make it to 96, it's quite normal to not make it past your late 90s and we can't blame it on H&M (either the grandson or the shop)

I'm the same. Currently 12:15am here in Australia and I need to be up in 5 hours for work but can't seem to put my phone down and go to sleep.

There was always going to be lots of waffle on the TV. They could hardly ignore the queens death or imminent death.

Would it be better if they kept it quiet and told everyone a few days down the road and the newspapers put a note on page 4 and that was it?

@workworkworkugh I'm in Australia, too, and I am surprised they're making it look so serious on Mumsnet and there is literally little comment on our media, not even ABC full coverage, only channel 7 is covering it non-stop but even the mood doesn't sound like she's gone already or about to be gone. So I'm a bit confused.

Why do we need to be prepared for the death of someone we don’t know?

Because some of us will be very sad the Queen may be very close to passing away and (I for one) will be glad of the time to think about her and reflect on the woman she has been in her lifetime.

I think the sadness is something people will either understand or they won’t.

The BBC has scrapped their regular schedule. All reporters are incredibly sombre and wearing black. It doesn't bode well.

I think she has already passed and there will be an announcement at 6.

@CatsandFish all BBC programming ahs been stopped and all Royals gathering at Balmoral, Newsreaders all in Black and all news outlets focussed for an 'update'

They'd not do any of that if she was having a down day.

@workworkworkugh Nothing even on ABC 24, except business coverage. So maybe she hasn't gone yet and it's not that serious.
