It feels like we're being slowly prepared for her passing away. I feel unexpectedly tearful.

God bless her, she was Our Queen, a constant presence in a sea of change. a remarkable woman. True to her beliefs and steadfast in her duty. Whatever your views on the Royal Family no one can deny she’s served us well.
Judging by the sudden deterioration in her condition since Tuesday, the cancellation of the Privvy Council meeting and the family going to Balmoral, the words ‘Serious concern, Comfortable and resting’ I think it will be days or even hours when she rejoins her beloved Phillip again.

The BBC has scrapped their regular schedule. All reporters are incredibly sombre and wearing black. It doesn't bode well.

Australia must be quite backward then in the coverage. Although, to be fair it is 12:22am here, so a lot of the tv isn't live.

A private RAF jet en route to Aberdeen on Flight Radar. Wonder if it's William or a politician?

If it originated from Northolt then yes it is - and has 7 royals onboard. A 5 Live interviewee has just said on the radio.

@workworkworkugh I'm in Australia, too, and I am surprised they're making it look so serious on Mumsnet and there is literally little comment on our media, not even ABC full coverage, only channel 7 is covering it non-stop but even the mood doesn't sound like she's gone already or about to be gone. So I'm a bit confused.

It is serious. The whole immediate family don't cancel arrangements and rush to her ever.

The palace also never puts out a statement like that over the Queens health

ShouldersBackChestOutChinUp · 08/09/2022 15:23

@PatientlyWaiting21 I agree.

SenecaFallsRedux · 08/09/2022 15:23

There is quite a bit of coverage here in the US.

antelopevalley · 08/09/2022 15:23

The British media, especially the BBC, are simply following the plan laid out that the Queen herself agreed. The first part of the plan the public would be aware of is normal BBC programming suspended.

ThisIsNotThePostYourLookingFor · 08/09/2022 15:23

I’m not a royalist in anyway, I would rather not have them but it is very sad. She’s an old lady and deserves some peace. I just hope all her family get there in time to be with her

SunflowerOrange · 08/09/2022 15:23

It must have happened or be imminent. They'd hardly lead to this coverage of Balmoral gates and the all black just to sayb"false alarm" and do again a week later would they?

Pootles34 · 08/09/2022 15:24

Maybe the armed police are for William's arrival? I suppose if you have all the royals in one place you would need rather a lot of security.

mateysmum · 08/09/2022 15:24

There are nearly 12000 people following the Northolt to Aberdeen flight on Flight Radar.

I do hope Harry gets to see her before she goes if that indeed is what is happening as he was said to be her favourite and he is in the country.

I think Lady Louise, Prince Edward's daughter, is supposed to be her favourite. Her brother James is also supposed to be a favourite. It's also been said Peter Philips is the favourite as he's the first and then Eugenie is apparently the only one allowed to call her granny in public.

I think she probably loves them all, my GC play the game "who is granny's favourite" and in all honestly I love them all, there is the funny one, the clever one, the one I worry about. I tend to think Harry is probably the one she worries about.

CharlotteRose90 · 08/09/2022 15:24

I'm not a royalist however I'm very, very fond of Her Majesty. She's been queen my entire life. And hugely reminds me of my much-loved grandmother, now gone. If the day that she leaves us is indeed on its way, may it be pain free, dignified, and full of love.

SolarLanterns · 08/09/2022 15:25

Will shops definitely close tomorrow if the Queen dies today? Sorry not to be disrespectful just that I have to do the weekly shop.

Jesus we're not closing, we're a florist and quite frankly we'll be run off our feet for the next few days.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 08/09/2022 15:26

Everyone has a right to their own feelings

You're absolutely right, they do. Which is why I'm pretty sure some people are reading this feeling more than slightly queasy at the mean spirited jibing and cheap callous insults about a dying old woman, whatever you think of her and the institution she heads. Like her or not, HM is a woman of global significance and historical importance.

GhostFromTheOtherSide · 08/09/2022 15:26

This thread is awful. Not all of it, but the sniping and the speculation about when the passing will be announced etc etc.

Well quite. It also needs to be a flawlessly executed plan. Sp they need all the parts, and the people, ready and in place and for everyone involved to be ready to action what happens next.

Thing is, now I've had the news on for hours a while, I can't turn it off!

CaveMum · 08/09/2022 15:27

@mateysmum over 16,000 following now. It's due to land in 24 minutes and then an hour's drive to Balmoral so that suggests if we are going to get an update it will be after 5pm.

LIZS · 08/09/2022 15:27

@TwinGirlsOnTheWay think they may normally be a more discreet presence, but there nonetheless.

I mean that seems like a massive security risk

kateandme · 08/09/2022 15:28

They’ve been told she will or is dead.how stupid would bbc look tomorrow if all this and then suddenly “ she’s ok folk”

Carrotzen · 08/09/2022 15:28

I think it's quite obvious she has either died or it is very imminent

The BBC and the Palace would not act like this if she was just ill. She would not want everyone sitting at home speculating on her health. Even if it was likely in the next week I don't think the BBC would cancel broadcasting and put 24/7 coverage on Balmoral. I don't think that's very respectful.

maiafawnly · 08/09/2022 15:28

garlicandsapphires · 08/09/2022 12:55

But she looked okay only yesterday? surely she wouldn't be up and working is she was at death's door?

Impossible to assume, she could have had a massive stroke or similar, just because she was fine yesterday or the day before doesn't mean she still is
