With another podcast set for release this week, The Sunday Times has a piece addressing Harry and Meghan's apparent strategy:

Courtiers are bemused by the Sussexes’ determination to rage against the past. As Davis observed of Meghan in her article: “She has taken a hardship and turned it into content.” A source who knows the Sussexes questions why Meghan “is constantly looking back at how awful it was to briefly be a royal. What does success look like, is it a number in the bank? Is it that they’ve killed off the monarchy?” Another Palace source says: “Ultimately they are bashing the institution that has put them in the position they’re in, the longevity of that strategy is not sustainable.”

I'm curious about their strategy, too. They seem to think that criticizing the royal makes them look better - it really doesn't. Instead, it just makes them look petty and increasingly irrelevant.

Just a thought.

When was the last time PH dissed his family?

Has he been silent for a while? Is it only MM who is continuing the oblique references?

Good point .
Maybe he is realising the hurt he has caused ?

Apparently they but I was really just wondering if it was usual to have a doctor travelling with you at all times ? HM I can understand.

A personal doctor with equipment. Just ludicrous. For a trio of a few days.

Trip

StartupRepair · 07/09/2022 09:57

Anyone else wondering if H and M contemplated a visit to Ukraine?

Interesting point, DFOD, though with Harry's memoir due out I wouldn't want to make any assumptions

What's happening with the publication date is anyone's guess, but I'll be surprised if - as some have said - it doesn't appear at all, not least because of the earnings

there were rumours on Twitter earlier in the summer that H was planning a trip but they seemed to fizzle out. If true, I wouldn’t be surprised if the powers that be blackballed the plans because it would be a diabolically bad idea

OMG haven’t the poor Ukrainians suffered enough ? Imagine H bleating on about Daddy cutting off his money etc

StepMumToJustOne · 07/09/2022 11:38

Has their trip of the UK ended already then?

DFOD · 07/09/2022 11:41

Think H has a speech to do at Well Child charity tomorrow night?

Yes. He has attended in person since 2007 apart from one COVID year

SueSaid · 07/09/2022 12:30

'Yes. He has attended in person since 2007'

He did live in the UK then. You'd think there would be US equivalents of Well Child that he could support nowadays so he doesn't have to do transatlantic flights.

shedwithivy · 07/09/2022 12:38

It will be interesting to see what he says.
Meghan is a polished performer and can bosh out an elegantly delivered speech (even if it is basically her life story with "you kids are the future" at the end).

Harry seems to have gone a little wobbly over the last few years, a lot of uncomfortable body language and a lot less personality in his delivery. I think he needs to find his groove again, otherwise it is just more "I'm a dad now, I want a better world for my kids so we need to save the planet, my mum was Diana, she was epic and once met Mandela."

Really he's just a rich man who plays polo, speaks at some charity events and has a glamorous wife. They're very lean on content beyond their royal connection.

The charity want him there, why shouldn't be attend as he's done for 14 years?
Well done him for not just dumping them because of course that would be wrong on this thread no doubt

I like the broadcast of H & M’s commercial flight announced by Hello! They keep on giving.

It's also been noted that they flew into Farnborough, which apparently is only for private planes?

They flew private to and from Germany . Yes , someone else paid the bill but they could have declined and set an example .

BadgerB · 07/09/2022 13:05

and while we're on "apparently", it's also been said that William asked Harry, when H&M were at Frogmore, to come to Adelaide Cottage so that they could talk. Harry declined unless Meghan was invited too. She wasn't. The visit didn't take place.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 07/09/2022 13:18

Seems a bit odd to fly privately to Germany if they really have come from the US in commercial (okay, in first class but ...)
Surely if it was going to be "a whole new page", or even just for the image, they'd do the short hop on commercial also?

Unless the Hello report was a load of rubbish too (wouldn't be the first time)

queenofarles · 07/09/2022 13:28

It's also been noted that they flew into Farnborough, which apparently is only for private planes? yes, we flew from there on short trips a couple of times and it’s mostly small jets, I don’t think big planes are even allowed to land there.

If true, what an absolute pranny Harry is. That could have been a chance to start a reconciliation process with his brother. Fancy spurning it just because M wasn't invited to that one meet.

Samcro · 07/09/2022 14:21

or maybe he was being loyal to his wife.

Who would leak this invitation if true?Hopefully It’s not yet another excuse to bash Meghan. I thought some press and royalists were happy to report that Harry and Meghan would be snubbed by William on the trip?. The ever changing stories of unnamed sources are hilarious.

But as is frequently said on MN , couples are not joined at the hip and should be able to meet up with parents/ siblings/ whoever on their own .
I am having lunch with DB next week - DH isn’t going and isn’t insulted .

What is disloyal about meeting with your own sibling to break the ice, then bring the spouses in later? What a toxic way to think. I've direct experience of this kind of all or nothing behaviour in family fall outs and it brings nothing but long term resentment and heartache. What had actually happened to Meghan that Harry could no longer be alone with his brother to try to build bridges? I'd really like to know that.

BadgerB · 07/09/2022 14:56

I'm sure Meghan knows by now that Harry is not very bright, and takes his opinions from the most recent person he spoke to. She would have been right to be wary of that person being William, who has been something of a mentor to him since childhood
