With another podcast set for release this week, The Sunday Times has a piece addressing Harry and Meghan's apparent strategy:

Courtiers are bemused by the Sussexes’ determination to rage against the past. As Davis observed of Meghan in her article: “She has taken a hardship and turned it into content.” A source who knows the Sussexes questions why Meghan “is constantly looking back at how awful it was to briefly be a royal. What does success look like, is it a number in the bank? Is it that they’ve killed off the monarchy?” Another Palace source says: “Ultimately they are bashing the institution that has put them in the position they’re in, the longevity of that strategy is not sustainable.”

I'm curious about their strategy, too. They seem to think that criticizing the royal makes them look better - it really doesn't. Instead, it just makes them look petty and increasingly irrelevant.

@CathyorClaire 😂😂😂

jeffgoldblum · 05/09/2022 21:09

I've just watched a small bit but found it not for me , she also said my husband three times in the short clip I saw!

unname · 05/09/2022 21:10

I love her look and just read the text of her remarks, which sound terrific.

queenofarles · 05/09/2022 21:10

Like her or loathe her, she has a presence
I agree,

jeffgoldblum · 05/09/2022 21:10

Also why was Harry scowling!

NoName2223 · 05/09/2022 21:17

She looks amazing as always. But the content? What even is it? I forced myself to watch it and I still don’t know what the charity actually does as she doesn’t talk about anything real or tangible. Loads about herself, her husband, herself again, she’s a mom (and that got applause?!), and her husband and on and on and on. Then a bundle of words like global, access, inclusion, community, curiosity, moment, now, in the moment now, etc etc. God give me strength. Maybe I’m too old, but it’s such meaningless woke word salad. Anyway I hope they got the Netflix footage they’d pre sold.

This sums it up.

I was thinking that too, it reminded me of those business meetings with all the buzz words thrown in for good measure. But very little substance.

Although I suppose that's what speeches are expected to be these days - inspirational guff and insta worthy soundbites.

NoName2223 · 05/09/2022 21:19

Another thing that stood out was her going on about how she wanted to make the world a better place for her son or something like that.
And yet she has estranged him from both sides of his family. WTF?

Farmageddon · 05/09/2022 21:21

I reckon Harry looked uncomfortable because he's schlepping back on to the RF's turf, and he knows they're not pleased to see him.

NoName2223 · 05/09/2022 21:22

Harry did look very sour indeed, contrasting hugely with her Hollywood dazzling smile.

Roussette · 05/09/2022 21:23

Oh well...we had a miniscule moment in time when it was relatively well received.
Back to normal now!

jeffgoldblum · 05/09/2022 21:25

I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice! The first time she said my husband, the camera panned to him and he kind of pulled an odd face!

jeffgoldblum · 05/09/2022 21:27

Just watched again ! Very odd !

ArcaneLana · 05/09/2022 21:28

She looked beautiful, I thought her speech was good. I think Harry looked really proud , saw photos of him/ them smiling & to me he seems quite happy. I didn’t love the blouse though.

🤣🤣. Wait till tomorrow’s morning shows & opinion pieces. It’s going to be 🔥

I noticed that. I wonder if there might be a tiny bit of what went on with Charles and Diana. ‘I’m the Royal! Why is she getting all the attention?’. She dominates him at every event they attend.

He’s just ‘my husband ‘ these days.

CathyorClaire · 05/09/2022 20:57

It was very unripe tomato 🍅 red, a difficult colour to wear!

I realise I am very shallow and bad but she looked like a Red Arrow skydiver who'd lost his plane...

I confess to a full on Mutley snigger at this, although I think she usually looks great.

The Fail are really going to town, they have some huge banner with "Meghan back in Britain". Harry is very much presented as an also ran IMO and although I am far from a fan, I think the reporting is so obviously skewed to create froth it is laughable.

Actually I think he does really adore her and he doesn’t begrudge her the attention- I think he just hates having to do all this fake docuseries filming to earn a living. But who knows.

CPL593H · 05/09/2022 21:51

As my retired journo husband would say " we will damn with faint praise, continued on pages 2, 3,4,5,6,7 and 8".

(He is a Suits fan and I can't discuss this as he reacts badly to any criticism of the woman he calls "Princess Meghan Your Majesty")

Wheresthebeach · 05/09/2022 21:53

She does look great. I don’t understand why The Fail is making such a big deal of the speech. BBC has coverage, but the attention seems OTT to me on The Fail

It's deliberately OTT (IMO)

Arnaquer · 05/09/2022 21:59

She does look amazing in that red outfit. Really suits her. I haven't seen / heard the speech. The Fail are going completely OTT, what is their motive I wonder?

Grin Meghan and Harry looked great and it's fine if they are invited to make inspirational speeches. It's the sniping at family bit I hate. So well done Meghan.
resistingreality · 05/09/2022 22:03

Her shoes look mega bloody uncomfortable. That’s all I have to say.
