@skullbabe Yes, I realised that after I posted. Sorry.

I am uneasy when people keep predicting that their marriage will end in divorce. None of us knows that, nor do we have enough evidence of their relationship to even speculate.
For now though, they both need what the other can give them. And of course, they have two children, and I would imagine they are both very committed to, and proud of, their family unit.

That’s a very dismissive view of these strong, privileged women though. You seem to completely ignore that they both had agency over their own lives and choices. These were not arranged marriages.

I doubt MM is sad she married Harry and I have no doubt she adores her children.

Life is choices.

Where did I claim that she was sad about marrying Harry or didn't love her children?
🙄

Yes, that makes me very uncomfortable. We can't judge a marriage like that, and they're a family unit.

@MarshaMelrose didn’t it seem like Mariah backtracked a bit based on MM’s reaction? Oh, it’s just about the clothes. But no, Diva is about the vibe of being the one that everyone in the room is tiptoeing around. It’s a form of commanding power via fear of what the person might do if they are displeased.

And isn’t that her intention? Example, saying she never signed an NDA and alluding that she has beans to spill. That can only be meant to make the RF fear her.

Just watched the podcast.
I think Mariah knew exactly what she was doing when she said that. She is a diva in both meanings of the word and has embraced it, but it's an insult if you don't fall into the category of 'one of a kind' singer. Diva is not about fashion or a certain look that you wear and Mariah knows it.

It was a good example of how to take and retain control in an interview. I'm not surprised Meghan laughed nervously and was sweating. The vibe I got was 'I would be delighted to do a podcast with you Meghan where we can discuss things we have in common but.......'know your place'.

Perhaps Newsthump has got it right?

Ohnonevermind · 03/09/2022 13:52

We are all humans, we all make mistakes, but she doesn’t seem to see anything from any other viewpoint but her own, her ego seems brittle hence the need to big herself up and the inability to genuinely laugh at herself.

Hollywood is a hard place to grow up I can imagine, I’m sure most kids leave with war wounds of some kind or another on their psyche .Hopefully Montecito is a better environment for her own kids.

What a shame - for both women.

I took this to mean you found their lives sad after they married. Maybe I misunderstood.

What?!
I think it's a shame that both women had struggles in their new lives and felt unhappy and isolated.

What is strange is going through an interview and selecting a line or two that you view as negative and trying to blow it up.

The same with listening to a 50minute podcast and pouncing on one or two things. What ? So you can point out : she's a liar !

Bradby was closely following them and may have seen the fire incident and how shook she was - possibly in tears, then have to go out and smile straight after. Sometime then, their lawsuit was coming out available to the public, so they made the announcement. All these combined, I cannot blame him for asking and not sure how it helps mh cause for H&M to pretend all is fine, when it's clearly not. H was also questioned, though not as much hubaloo was made about him. It's something that has been a sticking point for others, so I can see why she would go into a bit of detail as to why she was so upset during that interview.
Later on people are angry because H clearly chooses his wife and they are a strong team.

Maireas · 03/09/2022 13:58

@unnunname - read my posts again.
I have not criticised Meghan or Grace nor suggested that either of them didn't love husbands or children! I would never suggest the latter 😡
My point again :. it's difficult for a woman - however capable - to adjust to such cultural and social changes
no negative judgement on my part of either woman

unname · 03/09/2022 13:58

@StormzyinaTCup Interesting who she’s chosen for the first two podcasts. I wondered if she sees herself on par with Serena and Mariah. Both GOATs in respect to their talents. She was successful but only “Meghan” because of who she married, not due to her own career.

If I were part of her PR team I would be looking for non-famous but inspirational women to interview.

So strange to me how people seem to think they can disparage MM for marrying a prince. So what. What matters is what she has done once she received that platform. She was already working with the UN, had her own job and generally working with charities.

No one goes on about Michelle O, Hillary or Jill as just being famous due to their husbands occupying a high office. We know they all had meaningful jobs before and worked with good causes, but we are aware they brought those causes higher up due to their husbands fame. Why is MM a villain for doing the same thing.

I think she probably does - there's also an element of ego in having this level of celebrity indulging in mutual ego massaging.

I'm sure the production team & Spotify had a say in it too though. They desperately needed this podcast to bring in the numbers and be successful after their significant investment, so front loading the series with two really big names would hopefully draw a lot of attention.

Hence also the fact that the podcast remains at number 1 in the charts, despite neither episode so far being in the top ten episodes. It may be legit of course, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't being given some help behind the scenes to ensure it appears more popular than it is.

J0y · 03/09/2022 14:10

Um, Michelle met Barrack Obama at law school. Jill Biden is a Dr, so not trading on her husband's career.
Meghan married a princess. I don't doubt she loved Harry though, but he was always a prince. Comparing her to hilarious Clinton is meaningless. In what way is that comparable 😵

People dehumanise and other people they do not like and use this to justify uncharitable behaviour. This is why I state that she is a very human woman with human motivations and feelings - to remind you that she is not a caricature or an avatar but that she is very much a person. You can criticise people without being perjorative

do you see the irony there?

that you are criticising me, dehumanising me and being pejorative too?

who on this thread has ever suggested she is a caricature or an avatar? Nobody.

we are all aware she is a human being - because we are human beings too and are all equally worthy of decent treatment.

I’m really sorry @TrashyPanda but words mean things.

At no point have I dehumanised you - I believe very much that you are a person with very human motivations. I have spoken to you with respect and have not cheered comments which have ascribed the basest of tendencies to my comments like you have. Like I said I have criticised Meghan in this very thread and I have criticised you but I have been respectful, thoughtful and have not called anyone names.

Can you say the same?

Again when we dehumanise others we put an avatar in their place to allow for us to justify our the way we treat or talk about them.

I think it fair we no longer interact with each other as I do no believe you are discussing things in good faith.

Keep well

@elessar

Maybe I use the word in my own way, but I wouldn’t refer to Serena a celebrity, she’s an extremely talented athlete who has worked her entire life to get where she is today.Ditto for Mariah, with her singing career.

Celebrity seems so generic and it doesn’t necessarily convey skill or hard work.

LondonWolf · 03/09/2022 14:16

Late to the discussion about what we were doing on the wedding day but anyway - we went to actual Kensington Gardens and toasted the couple. Me with a mini bottle of pink champagne, my kids with pop! And my dog with a long slurpy drink of water from The Round Pond in front of the palace. I even took photos of him doing so Grin. I'm not an intense royalist but it felt like such a special day and I wanted my children to understand why it was important. Now I get called a racist for saying "er, hold on..." at M's more extreme fibs and nonsense 🤷🏼‍♀️

notanotheroneagain · 03/09/2022 14:19

I am not comparing them, don't get this twisted.

I said they all had previous jobs. Not sure if you are trying to compare being a dr, lawyer, actor etc. That is not the point. They all had jobs they were doing. good ones too. Being a lawyer or a dr, does not give you the same platform as being flotus

And enough with this trying to portray H as useless. He was not or is useless . He had lots of big projects going, which he still is married to. He was front and centre on Sussex royal ( I thought some of MM's projects were actually actually tapped down). He was very much involved with his patronage ( I think 16, named) He was protecting us in the army for a decade.

He still carries on with the ones he has. Plenty of zooms to them when we could not go out due to covid.

Semantics I guess. I wasn't disagreeing with you on their credentials, just that both would be considered world famous A list celebrities.

Celebrity to me is a neutral word. You can be a hugely famous person because you have a lot of talent (like Serena) or just because you got lucky or married the right person.

I do agree that MM would love to be in that circle of fame for something meaningful, which is why she's trying so hard to make this label of global philanthropist stick.

The problem is you can't just keep saying something and make it true, and both she and Harry lack the substance behind their claims.

Is it not strange that no Royal reporters ( including Bradbury ) have come out to confirm the fire sort ?
