Are there any people from South Africa on this thread? Were there parties and people celebrating in the street?

Completely agree with you.

It's really insulting the way she referred to it as this big unwanted burden that was for the world not for them.

They didn't have to have such a big wedding. But there's no suggestion they wanted a small private wedding. By all accounts it's exactly what they wanted - the A list guest list and all the pomp and ceremony. And the British taxpayer footed the astronomical bill.

So it's staggeringly ungrateful the way she later talked about it.

I think Meghan has a lot of demons that she wrestles with internally, one of them being unable to accept herself flaws and all which is why she feels the need to pretend and “lie” to the world.

One example is when Mariah Carey called her a diva and Meghan’s response was “WHAT??? How very DARE you call me a diva!!!” and was only placated when Mariah “explained” that she just meant that Meghan looked so absolutely fabulous, and that meant people saw her as a diva (cough cough).

People who are comfortable in their own skin know who they are and are able to laugh at themselves. Mariah Carey knows she’s a “diva” and owns it with relish.

Meghan pretending that she didn’t want the whole circus of the wedding watched by billions of people is disingenuous but perhaps more about her not wanting to admit/see herself as an attention seeker.

British expats around the world got together to have their own version of the Wedding 'street parties',

In the country I currently live in, several of our British expat friends held parties to watch the wedding together. There were a few locals who joined in, due to family / marriage ties, a few non brit expats, who were up for a party also joined in. It was great fun, with very british drinks, food and british humour. I wouldn't be surprised if the video above is from one of those expat 'street' parties. I know in Dubai it was an even bigger event amongst the British expats.

None of our US expat friends held parties or even joined in.

Yes it was he same where I live but because I’m not an expat in the traditional sense I was able to see how happy nationals from here (not Dubai) were about the wedding also. It was a big event and staff in the bank would even ask me what I thought about the romance then the engagement then the wedding.

College tuition - deliberately left out parents. Her lawyer admits parental contributions
lion King - SA actor stated he wasn’t even there and that Her marriage meant nothing to SA. Composer said he had no recollection. Tapes show no such thing was said.
wedding that wasn’t, as per ArchBishop of Canterbury
collaborating

you can deny until you are blue in the face, but it’s clear they are not truthful.

Good morning! 🤣 as the person who has made the claim you have not provided evidence of a lie in these cases. The person who asserts something needs to provide evidence.

But I see you’re wedded to the idea of Meghan the arch villain as opposed to Meghan the very human woman.

I’m bored of this conversation now - who else listened the Mariah podcast? What are your thoughts?

The passport thing is so weird and obviously provably untrue. She travelled to New York for her huge (vulgar) baby shower with tonnes of A-list guests in 2019.

How did she get there without her passport?

I think the passport was taken so staff could have it on hand to sort out whatever Royalty need travel wise when traveling. But, I also believe there is a special passport Governments issue to people like Royalty/Diplomats etc to enable them to be able to travel unhindered. Perhaps her passport was exchanged for the latter but she forgot to say ‘but they gave me another one instead’. She also probably forgot that people would be able to see through what she said and think there must be more to this than she’s saying.

MadamTrelawney · 03/09/2022 09:34

Everyone had such high hopes I think for them when they got married. Although when we get down to the thick of it I almost tend to blame Harry for all this mess moreso than Meghan.

That’s not to take away all the lies and half truths Meghan has spouted but to me as an outsider to the UK looking in, within 6 months it looked like Harry was searching for a mother figure and not a wife. It’s really sad to see.

Families fall out. It happens and with the Royals it just so happens to be a very public stage it’s happening on. But what really did me in was the absolute disdain they have both shown the British public. Particularly those who are devout in their support of the monarchy.

What really soured my view on Harry was the fact they pushed on with the Oprah interview even though they were asked to just push it back a bit because Prince Philip was so unwell and they refused and then pleaded ignorance after the fact.

They would have known a tad bit more about that situation than anyone else and still pushed their own selfish agenda. It will end in divorce. It’s bound to. Harry won’t be so profitable to her in a few years time.

The DM must be sitting there all smug and satisfied to have you all fooled. Agents of chaos.

This reminds me of the witch hunt of previous centuries. Get the mob braying, give them false info to latch on to - they suddenly see the links.

Lets hang the witch !

It's not going to last for long.

During covid walked in on a school zoom for my dc. This particular subject covers all sorts of social/personal matters- racism, sexual identity and consent, mh, disabilities, processing info, internet safety etc. The one I heard was on racism, and they were going in deep, as deep as discussing colourism.
What I'm trying to say is, the new generation are well informed of these things, hence the support for H&M. They are hard to fool.

The RF has to get on with the programme. They come over insincere when they promote MH, but at the same time say never explain, never complain. It cannot last.
H&M talk about things and that's not a problem. Most people don't see it as a problem. The rf seems stubborn. To move forward, admit you made mistakes and apologise - but I guess it will take away the mystic of being anointed by god and therefore you are very special. But who are they kidding, no one believes that anymore. Re invent yourselves as the new agents of change and charity. That is what people want. Yes, the people you have are dull as dishwater, but you can pr that away. ffs, get it right and stop trying to demonise H&M in the process.

As my dc loosely quoted some influencer :

skullbabe · 03/09/2022 09:36

@HeddaGarbled
”Meghan & Harry and Catherine & William and all their famous ‘friends’ aren’t going to change the world - they’re just a sideshow”

but unfortunately this is the sad side of charity - you need famous faces to help promote the cause which is a product of our culture. You cannot blame the famous for this phenomenon - there is a discussion to be had as to how to promote causes without fame and I would be genuinely interested in this.

I used to work for a faily major international organisation and we always handed our passports over to HR, then requested them back for whatever reason. So the idea of handing her passport over was not unusual to me, and the idea of not being able to access it (in the face of evidence of frequent travel) seemed just hubris to me.

I also think we have high expectations of people we perceive to be privileged and MM was one of those people. She’s absolutely beautiful, highly intelligent, very well educated and had so many things going for her even before marrying. No one wants to her a woman like that complain about her life.

And there it is - people of privilege are not allowed to have problems

NanaNelly · 03/09/2022 09:40

All of the Royal Family have passport apart from the Queen so I’m going to continue to believe that the passport was taken to enable staff to have it on hand for whatever needs doing to it when they RF travel. That there was nothing sinister involved in it at all.

The willingness demonstrated by sensible and intelligent people to perform mental gymnastics over and over again to avoid facing up to the facts is something I cannot fathom.

I suspect it's because many of the Meghan defenders on here are Republicans who just use her as a weapon against the Royal Family.

The frequent, tiresome and irrelevant Whataboutery gives the game away.

If Meghan were to be discovered boiling kittens alive these threads would resound to the cries of “But what about Prince Andrew.”

Ohnonevermind · 03/09/2022 09:50

@MrsGusset

Its like those Americans who are still claiming Trump won the election.

Samcro · 03/09/2022 09:52

its funny that the people moaning about "Whataboutery" are the ones who keep doing it.

J0y · 03/09/2022 08:41

Is she that intelligent?
She doesn't see how she's portraying herself. I think she's smarter than Harry but I dont buy that she's particularly clever.
I think she's exceptionally confident promoting herself which is what's got her where she is.

I'm with you here, J0y.

1 She's certainly no wordsmith:

a Doesn't know the meaning of "guttural" - uses it when I am sure she means "visceral" and

b confuses "archetypes" and "stereotypes"...

2 No emotional intelligence, not a thinker:

a didn't anticipate that she'd be caught out on her lies

b she seems to ignore sound advice and

c she absolutely cannot, as has been pointed out, "read the room".

NanaNelly · 03/09/2022 09:54

"We are here to make changes for the better. Either you are with us, or get the f out of our way."

I think the influencer probably copied President George W. Bush saying ‘ you’re either for us or against us’ way back in 2001.

And we all know how that turned out.

Ohnonevermind · 03/09/2022 09:54

@notanotheroneagain

Talking about ‘admitting to mistakes’ - there’s quite a list that Meghan needs to own up to.

NanaNelly · 03/09/2022 09:58

Is she that intelligent?

Not emotionally but I would say that yes, she’s intelligent if her level of education is anything to go by.

FoggyCrumpet · 03/09/2022 10:00

Anyway she would have needed to get a new passport after she married with "Duchess of Sussex"
Occupation : Duchess/Princess
on it.

I doubt she'd have been slow about that.

Don't you have to return your old one when you apply for a new one, and get it back with the corners cut off? No doubt aides sorted all that for her.

I don't talk to my dc about MM. They may have come across me watching a programme with panellists talking about her. My youngest said they discussed her when they were doing the news breakdown (there is a kiddy news show they discuss at school every week to keep up with what's going on). He thought that was weird. My kids generally find it weird - this targeted attack on one woman.
