As the last thread filled up & there's plenty of discussion of Meghan's interview in The Cut, seems worthwhile starting a new thread!

A read yesterday that a series of media interviews are planned to promote the podcasts. Should be very interesting if The Cut interview is anything to go by!

"Earlier in our conversation about her goals for the life she’s creating here, she’d remarked upon how, if Archie were in school in the U.K., she’d never be able to do school pickup and drop-off without it being a royal photo call with a press pen of 40 people snapping pictures. “Sorry, I have a problem with that. That doesn’t make me obsessed with privacy. That makes me a strong and good parent protecting my child,” Meghan says. For now, even though two Montecito moms waiting in front of the school stopped mid-chat to do a double take, Archie is just the cheerful kid who brings a week’s worth of freshly picked fruit for his fellow classmates and enjoys playing a “roaring” game at recess."

Did anyone else read this part of the article as the journalist implying that she doesn't usually do the school run anyway and it's all for show for this article? That's what I read by the point being made about the other mums doing a double take - if she was there on the school run every day, why would they do a double take?

Good point!

Is that what you linked on the other thread? If so, I commented about it to you.

Ehh?? @Roussette you seem to be channeling MM's own disingenuousness.

"That" is what EVERYONE is talking about on here!

I'm sorry, no. As I said I'm dipping in-and-out out of this thread I'm not following it slavishly

BellePeppa · 30/08/2022 17:31

How would you know people do that unless you are on the same sites and recognise the repeat posters?

Because I see threads denigrating people?

And I avoid them

Because the RF have a legal team which generally threaten legal action against anyone who makes false allegations or allegations which cannot be proven against them, right from the outset.

Once an action has been brought, there is no harassment action available, it's listed for a hearing, which is what happened.

I think you'll find the RF generally have a policy of not resorting to legal action. There have been very few since Albert v Strange in 1848. Never complain, never explain. Which is why so much of the crap put out by the subjects of this thread get away with it.

Roussette · 30/08/2022 23:17

TrashyPanda · 30/08/2022 18:21

I avoid anything about those that irritate me. I don't want to read about them nor do I want to post about them

so why come on these threads then, because people who dare to criticise MM clearly irritate you. And yet you post about them too.

kind of ironic, given the above assertion.

actually, kind of like the stuff MM said about her back-yard “wedding”

Because I hate the bullying tone

I bear no love for the wretched Duke of York; however it is libellous to refer to him as a paedophile . The only ‘offence’ which he has admitted is shagging a 17 year old with her ‘consent’ , which is above the age of consent in the country in which it took place.

Read up about trafficked girls. There is NO consent

Ok so you’re the bullying police? Rather condescending that you think you must put everyone in their place constantly. Why not just ignore these threads and concentrate on something else that you approve of?

But in order to be guilty of that criminal offence he has to have had sex with her, he says he didnt, have known she was trafficked and he says he didn't. There were no criminal prosecutions either side of the pond which says it all really. No evidence to support a prosecution.

Hello! I haven't seen a Prince Andrew supporter for a while!
Lovely he pays out £12million to someone he'd never met and didn't have sex with!

Jasminejoy · 31/08/2022 00:00

I think Meghan comes off really bitter. I suppose her income stream will be slagging off the Royal Family.

She's not been with them long so she's got one or two more magazine interviews?

What a pathetic and negative way to make money. Not a very impressive 'feminist'.

HubbaHubble · 31/08/2022 00:40

Ok. I have just listened to bits of the 2nd podcast.

Really hope that Meghan moves on from the sentence “until I dated my husband” followed by whatever grievance occurred.

I am sympathetic to Meghan. But even I cringed at the lack of self awareness and humour, like literally my arse clenched in cringe over things she said.

I think she is emotionally stuck

Bri5 · 31/08/2022 01:21

Long time lurker but I’m a huge Mariah fan! I’ve been summoned out from the darkness. I might get Spotify just to listen to this, so I guess they got at least ones subscriber! Mariah is hilarious, she’s often self depreciating and in on the jokes that people make about her. She’s very clever and witty.

Im surprised Meghan didn’t know that Mariah embraces being a “Diva”. She had a whole chapter in her book discussing the term and how she owns it. Even if she didn’t I’m surprised how quickly Meghan went from “fangirl” to the “demise” of her “dream crush” over a quick tease from Mariah. If she really reacted so viscerally to a friendly quip I worry that some of her grievances with the royal family could be miss understanding. I have a dry New England since of humor we often tease/ self depreciate as a form of endearment. I’d get along swimmingly with Mariah! I would feel comfortable telling Mariah that the song she quoted in the interview wasn’t “Outside” it was “My saving grace” she literally even says “my saving grace” in the lyrics! Mariah, come on! I would not feel comfortable pointing out even a silly error to Meghan. She doesn’t seem like she’d take it well.

Regarding The Cut article, I read the quote about “losing my dad” to be about her not Harry losing his dad. Guess I’m in the minority there. Lol

Ive been caught of guard with how often she deploys stereotypes herself. “I’m not a model” “I’m a mom”, Why would she think that models aren’t moms or that moms cant be models? They’re plenty of examples of both and no feminist would assume it’s one or the other. I wish she was more confident, she has a great speaking voice, a desire to do good and a huge platform to really make a difference. She’s definitely worth keeping an eye on. I think she could become something really special if she focused her ambition and heals (moves on) from her experience with the royal family.

HubbaHubble · 31/08/2022 01:37

Totally agree with your post @Bri5

Meghan definitely has extraordinary drive without doubt, and now she has a global platform which is incredibly powerful and here for the taking. But she needs to get over herself first.

I think he is in love and he won't wake up.

He wants her and needs her and now has nothing else.

I wonder for how long she'll endure his moping and lack of useful input. If his title starts to have less impact and use, I imagine her patience with his unhappiness and anger and sulking and lack of direction will wear thin.

My prediction: she'll blame his depression on their split and the cause of his depression his dysfunctional family.

She'll only move on when it's clear there's another path for her without him e.g. a big job in politics or the entertainment industry.

This would be played as her independent boss girl move and although she'd be very sad about the split with Harry she can't be responsible for his emotional state caused by his family.

I do hope this won’t happen for the sake of their children. It seems to they would both benefit with some counselling. I don’t mean the sort Harry is possibly getting. I mean someone, who will talk to them about boundaries and privacy. The damage to the relationship with the RF very much negatively impacts their children.

BadgerB · 31/08/2022 06:27

I wonder if Harry ever expresses mild annoyance at something she has said or done? Or says, "I think you are wrong there".
I'd guess not - the fallout would be scary.

This is the vibe I get from their relationship too

No question that MM is now a subject of ridicule for the press on both sides of the Atlantic and in Australia too. It appears people have really taken against her antics. I just feel really sad as I had great hopes that they would be a real asset to the Royal family when they got married. But obviously she wanted to be a celebrity on her own terms but I fear it is badly backfiring on her.

So actually you do not always avoid threads that irritate you and you do post about them. As proven here. Multiple times.

lllllllllll · 31/08/2022 07:40

I’m baffled by Meghan’s reaction to Mariah saying that Meghan has given us some diva moments. She could have easily laughed it off, but seemed to take it so seriously?

I agree but others have been ridiculed and yet prospered, notably Gwyneth Paltrow (acting skills notwithstanding), the Kardashians. She may prosper on notoriety alone.

i dont think she has much of a sense of humour

not uncommon with folk who are obsessed with themselves/puffed up by their own importance and are hyper vigilant for any possible criticism, which they then worry at relentlessly. I wonder how long it will be before MM realises she is the architect of her own misfortune and that people are laughing at her antics?

FoggyCrumpet · 31/08/2022 07:55

The person who could really give an interview worth reading is Angela Kelly. I bet she saw right through Megan and thoroughly enjoyed being unavailable for an impromptu tiara try on.

I have a vision of her lurking in Megan's room on the wedding day, like a modern day Mrs Danvers, waiting to snatch help remove the tiara as soon as Megan returned to change from her dress, ostentatiously locking it up in its case and marching out of the room leaving Megan calling for a maid or someone to help her out of her dress. Grin

Oh to have been a fly in the wall.

I do hope she will spill the beans one day in the future.

Legrandsophie · 31/08/2022 07:58

@MaulPerton The difference is that Gwyneth (and to a certain extent the Kardashians) have the ability to laugh at themselves. I can’t see that in Meghan.

And it makes me think that maybe some of the issues with royal life were miscommunication. I wonder if that was also the issue with her royal staff too. People forget that lots of Americans are culturally very different. I know there are lots of people who see the issue as racism but I am inclined to see it as a huge culture clash between British upper class values vs California values.

That’s exactly how I read it . They simply aren’t used to seeing her unlike the Cambridges who - I understand- don’t warrant a second look .
Also , did anyone else think it was incredibly patronising to for MM to get her bodyguard to hand over a back back to a homeless person ? Are they going to use it as a pillow ??
