I am just interested to see your opinions about the royal family. No judgement. And it can be from any royal family, not just the British one.

The Queen is a shit mother and grandmother.
Unpopular opinion on here but let's imagine a Lizzie AIBU, she's found out her son was involved in a massively seedy world, he's had sex with young women who did not consent, he's a rapist, she's brushed it all under the carpet. I bet if she was a mother from a working class background or even just not the queen she'd be ripped to pieces.
Not to mention this all came out while they were making H&M public enemy #1 and they got no backing whatsoever.

Sadly that's normal I know of a mother who has supported her son through two csa allegations and one rape allegation plus various other assault charges etc etc she supports her sons no matter what the charge

Or we could just not bitch about women’s appearance and say Beatrice = Redhead, Eugenie = Brunette?

It’s the other way around.

I really like Harry and Meghan, especially that they’re doing things on their own terms. I dislike the media on them and associated comments. They can’t seem to do right for wrong abd people get irrationally angry about people they’ve never met.

I have a suspicion that the reason they didn’t release the investigation outcome on the bullying claims is because they’re non-existent. It wouldn’t look favourable on the RF given all of the crap written at the time and claims Meghan was herself bullied/unsupported. The media narrative automatically took it to mean she was found to have bullied staff (no surprise there).

I always thought that PA wasn’t a paedophile, but I’d question the timeline of things in terms of grooming etc. I mean, what adult doesn’t question all of these very young girls traveling around the world without their parents and spending all of this time with them? It’s odd by anyone’s books.

Diana was a manipulative bitch who turned on "the look" for the cameras

I agree with this (although I hate the word bitch so I wouldn’t personally go that far).

I’m not really buying that she didn’t know she was to be a brood mare - she grew up in those circles, she would know exactly how the game is played. And she wanted the fame fortune and glory. Which is fine - I just wish people her sycophants would own it.

I also think that marriage was just as hard for Charles as it was for Diana. And whenever I watch or hear interviews with her she sounds completely neurotic and a perpetual victim. There was a Netflix one a while back, the tapes of Diana or similar, and she contradicts herself A LOT. She also describes everything as terrible. Her wedding day was the worst day ever, she hated it. She hated being pregnant, she hated the tours, the cameras, the attention, the engagements, it’s was oh so awful and she hated it. Given that people, righty, hate it when the Royals whinge about their ‘hard lives’, I’m surprised Diana isn’t mentioned more as she was the biggest whinger of them all!

She had countless affairs, sometimes with married men. Tremendously hypocritical of her to tell Martin Bashir ‘there were 3 of us in this marriage’. Yeah and the rest!

I also think she was a crap mum. Yeah she took the boys to McDonalds and theme parks but to go on national TV and slag their dad off and spill secrets of their marriage - I mean did she not stop to think for a second how her sons would be affected? Did she not think that people would watch that and then the kids would go to school and mention it to Harry and William?

Rant over 😂

I wouldn't say it's an unpopular opinion as such but I can never remember which one's Beatrice and which one's Eugenie.

Beatrice looks like Fergie. Eugenie looks like Andrew.

I think the tourists will still come whether there are Royals or not. Hopefully whoever the next King is, he will streamline massively. The wealth and scale of their ownership is offensive.

MrsOwainGlyndŵr · 23/08/2022 00:00

Beatrice is Blonde. HTH.

AuroraCake · 23/08/2022 00:04

I don’t think Diana was a good Mum either. The trauma those children suffered through because of their parents. Miracle how William turned out. And all the empathy in the world for Harry’s struggles.

Frezia · 23/08/2022 00:08

"I think the Queen is essentially the world’s biggest career woman and with that, certainly when she was a young mum, she accepted that being a present mother was the sacrifice for that."

I don't really understand this. Plenty of women have more demanding jobs and careers than hers and manage to be present mothers. It was true even decades ago. If she was an absent parent it was through choice, at the very least she decided not to challenge those old norms about royal child rearing.

maranella · 23/08/2022 08:17

I can't stand the cult of St Diana as well. Yes, she was young and naive when she married PC, and it's tragic that she died at the age of 36 in a car accident, but she was thick, manipulative and a complete drama queen. She constantly tipped off photographers about where she'd be and when, but then whined that she was a target of press intrusion. And PC had ONE affair, with the woman he should've been allowed to marry in the first place, while she had numerous lovers - James Hewitt, Hasnat Khan, James Gilbey, Will Carling ... and those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Beatrice is a redhead isn’t she?

I don’t think anyone has a role like the Queen! At least other career women get 4 weeks annual leave and the chance of a private family holiday. She has had none of that.

Yes she was completely unhinged. Looking back I think she should have had much more help for her MH and eating disorder but the 80’s and 90’s was hardly the most progressive time for mental illnesses. I have lived with someone with rather a cute MH issues and as much as I’d love to portray it as a chocolate box movie where a bit of tough love made them better, the reality is that to live with someone who is so very unhinged and is always banging on about how awful things are and how no one helps them and everyone is against them is bloody draining.

ShirleyJackson · 23/08/2022 08:24

Our RF and the way it’s run is a total anachronism.

But I’d rather have a neutral figurehead representing the nation than anyone elected, as this country has a strong tendency to elect utter fuckwits.

So keep them, but cut them back to the bone, and get them travelling on the train to work like Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands used to.

ShesNotTheMessiah · 23/08/2022 08:25

None of that?

She gets 2 months summer holiday in Balmoral, for a start. During which time she is in a private cottage (i.e. very large houe) or the castle itself, which is closed. Her wider family join her for various parts of it.

MrsOwainGlyndŵr · 23/08/2022 08:35

Beatrice is a redhead isn’t she?

Reddy blonde I'd say. It works for me!

Arbesque · 23/08/2022 08:40

I'm not saying Diana was a Saint, but I think she was a vulnerable, needy, not very bright teenager when the royal family took advantage of her, and her own family willingly allowed it to happen.
What happened afterwards was certainly not what anyone was expecting. But it doesn't excuse the original intentions of some people.

KentuckyDerbyandJoan · 23/08/2022 08:52

IMHO I think Sophie Wessex thought she could ‘replace’ Diana when she first married Edward. She hasn’t got an ounce of Diana’s ‘star quality’ and comes across as ‘bland’. Her run in with the ‘Fake Sheik’ was toe curlingly embarrassing.

It always comes across that Mike Tindall revels in his royal association.

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 23/08/2022 08:54

At the risk of sounding like a pernickety bugger Beatrice is most definitely not blonde or reddy blonde

In many ways, Diana’s untimely death saved her reputation. At that time, the press were beginning to turn against her - too much frolicking in the sun and living it up. Her halo was beginning to get a bit tarnished.

Yes that’s how I remember it too. People were getting sick of the drama. Her death turned her into a martyr whereas had she lived she might have turned a little Samantha Markle like in stringing the arse out of her RF connection

I wouldn't be so convinced William turned out well, I think he rarely hears the word no and is protected at all costs. I think his children stand half a chance of happiness because their mother seems sensible and balanced.

My unpopular opinion? The Queen is a cold-hearted bludger. She used her own grandsons as an EXCUSE for not seeing Diana's coffin/flowers/public. Like as if she couldn't have taken 5 hours out to fly there pay respects and then straight back, in one day, out of an entire week. Like as if her grandsons who were with their father, needed their grandmother to be at their side 24/7. She treated her own children terribly and gets a lot of money just to 'meet with people'. She does nothing, is cold, nasty, heartless and a waste.

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 23/08/2022 10:48

@CatsandFish in fairness Charles went out to Paris - the Queen didn’t need to. Her place was rightly with her grandsons.

I'm not fan of the Queen, but I think if someone posted on here to ask if they should go to the funeral of their ex-DIL following a bitter and acrimonious divorce they would've been told to stay away.

@LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet The exact opposite way around. It wasn't Charles place to go, it was the Queen's. That, was her duty. She's the Queen. Charles is not King. He had no place going. Charles should have been with the sons. She had no need to be with them.
