I am just interested to see your opinions about the royal family. No judgement. And it can be from any royal family, not just the British one.

I'm not fan of the Queen, but I think if someone posted on here to ask if they should go to the funeral of their ex-DIL following a bitter and acrimonious divorce they would've been told to stay away.

The Queen did go to Diana’s funeral

But this is not an ordinary family. She is the Queen. She had a duty and responsibility to go. More than anyone else. And she didn't even want to fulfill that part.

At the risk of sounding like a pernickety bugger Beatrice is most definitely not blonde or reddy blonde

that is t the best picture. I would always have described her as rather strawberry blond. She was very blond as a child. Eugenie is rather auburn. They both have ready tinge to their hair on some way. Beatrice’s hair is gorgeous and she looks just like the Fergusons.

@LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet The exact opposite way around. It wasn't Charles place to go, it was the Queen's. That, was her duty. She's the Queen. Charles is not King. He had no place going. Charles should have been with the sons. She had no need to be with them.

I believe he went with her sisters to identify her body? I don’t think that was a job for the Queen. It’s not her duty to identify the bodies of ex members of the RF who had publically criticised her and the institution in which she represents.

In the same way of M&H split up and she died young, and Charles was King I wouldn’t expect him to do anything but I would expect Harry to.

Were Charles and Diana divorced by then?? Or still just separated. I can’t remember.

I wouldn't be so convinced William turned out well, I think he rarely hears the word no and is protected at all costs. I think his children stand half a chance of happiness because their mother seems sensible and balanced.

Which of them hears no? He has a temper for sure. If those kids don’t turn out balanced after the rearing they are getting then really there is no hope. Let’s be honest all the rest of HM grandchildren turned out great. We know William has a temper and poor Harry. If his book focuses on the absolute disaster of the 90’s and how it messed him up I will read it. If it’s another bitter slanging match…no. The insanity of the coverage of their parents in the 80’s and 90’s was worse then been dragged up in the worst sink estate. It was an awful childhood.

They were divorced in 96. Mary Queen of Scot’s quote ‘My end was in my beginning’ strikes me here. What a disaster. She came in a battle of unruly press coverage and went out in one too. If she still had her bodyguards it wouldn’t have happened.

Completely agree with this. It’s a wonder they haven’t turned into addicts or have deep MH issues. I remember the coverage well and thinking I wouldn’t give my ordinary skint family up for that craic.

Why do we know William has a temper?? What’s he done 👀

Security was offered for her and she deliver it because thanks to a certain dodgy fucker of a ‘journalist’ she was extremely paranoid about having RF sanctioned protection.

He is reported to have when things go wrong. Harry too. Harry really does have many issues and William was only saved by the Middletons. He got lucky.

It’s appalling the way she was used by people.

They divorced in 1996.
Who says HM should have gone to Paris ? Charles went on behalf of his sons with Diana’s sisters . HM stayed with the boys as any Granny would do .

Insertdeadcatsnamehere · 23/08/2022 11:58

I'm the same age as Kate and though I don't move in those circles (ha!) I wouldn't have touched William with a bargepole if I'd met him at uni (unlikely he'd have rocked up at my former poly but still...). Imagine having to be the one to try and unravel that childhood, what an absolute nightmare. I'd take my normal life with normal well adjusted partner and normal inlaws any day.

FunsizedandFabulous · 23/08/2022 11:58

The UK will be a republic soon after Charles dies.

I don't like how they dress Royal children. Have they never heard of H&M or Gap? Confused

The Queen used her money & influence to save Andrew. He doesn't deserve it.

StClare101 · 23/08/2022 12:07

The Queen prioritised her duty and her marriage over her children. Leaving Charles in that awful school was despicable. She saw Diana as a brood mare.

Diana was an awful person.

Royal children should be allowed to wear normal clothes.

Harry is weak.

Meghan is a drama llama.

Charles is ok as is Anne. I think Sophie has largely redeemed herself too.

Andrew knowingly spent time with a paedophile and young girls that he knew may not have been there entirely of their own free will.

A lot of the hanger ons should be moved out of Kensington Palace tomorrow.

Wear an American brand that is largely gone in the UK and have issues with racism, the famous picture, and a brand which is well known for sweat shops - in public. Please. If you ever see the odd picture of them in their lives they are pretty much dressed like all kids of their class.

the80sweregreat · 23/08/2022 12:19

Prince Charles flew to Paris with her sisters the day that Diana died and they brought her body back to the UK that evening.
I wouldn't even have thought for a moment that the Queen would have gone over there.
They had been divorced for over a year by then.
Diana was away with Dodi at that time and the Royals were at Balmoral.

It’s the other way around.

I really like Harry and Meghan, especially that they’re doing things on their own terms. I dislike the media on them and associated comments. They can’t seem to do right for wrong abd people get irrationally angry about people they’ve never met.

I have a suspicion that the reason they didn’t release the investigation outcome on the bullying claims is because they’re non-existent. It wouldn’t look favourable on the RF given all of the crap written at the time and claims Meghan was herself bullied/unsupported. The media narrative automatically took it to mean she was found to have bullied staff (no surprise there).

I always thought that PA wasn’t a paedophile, but I’d question the timeline of things in terms of grooming etc. I mean, what adult doesn’t question all of these very young girls traveling around the world without their parents and spending all of this time with them? It’s odd by anyone’s books.

It really isn’t the other way around.

Beatrice = redhead (on the left)
Eugenie = brunette (on the right)

(And yes B has these natural tones and E has whatever type of brunette, but for people who can’t tell them apart, then B= red & E= brown)

As they generate tourism, they really should be made appear on the balcony for ten minutes daily. Get dressed up and stand waving on the balcony every day at 12 noon, just after the changing of the guards.

There should be a minimum of four of them every day. They can decide themselves which four as long as they each appear at least once a week.

The tourists can take photos and return the following day for a different four royals so they get their money’s worth.

I'm still calling it "blonde". My mnemonic thingy doesn't work otherwise.

TBF, William was a bit of a looker back then. He hasn't aged well.

Strawberry blonde.

Gingerkittykat · 23/08/2022 19:03

Loads of people are fawning over Louise Mounbatten Windsor and saying how ordinary she is and how she has had a normal upbrining.

Firstly, she is a princess, even though she does't use the title and just uses the title lady. How can that be ordinary? All hereditary titles should be banned.

I don't know why people are so happy that she has got into St Andrews, she is an ultra posh girl who went to a top private school, there would be something very wrong if she had not got the grades to get into a top uni.

Going to a top school does not mean you get top grades !
