I am just interested to see your opinions about the royal family. No judgement. And it can be from any royal family, not just the British one.

Charles probably would make a good king, if there is such a thing, but will he ever get the chance? It wouldn't surprise me now if his mother went on till she was practically desiccated. They interfere in political matters behind the scenes to get out of various laws, yet when the country needs their interference, they're nowhere to be found.

The queen owns Sandringham and Balmoral, so Buckingham Palace should be completely thrown open to visitors and be removed from the mix particularly since she and her grandson's family have now decamped to Windsor. Alternatively, get them back to the palace and get rid of Windsor. This idea of them having multiple crown residences at their disposal is ridiculous.

Better still get rid of the lot of them, they're the biggest scroungers in the country.

I wouldn't say it's an unpopular opinion as such but I can never remember which one's Beatrice and which one's Eugenie.

maranella · 22/08/2022 13:53

I suspect I feel the way many British people do and my opinions aren't unpopular, but I think they get FAR too much attention and press interest. I don't want to know what most of them are doing, wearing, saying, thinking - who cares? The only who should matter at all at any given time is the one on the throne and their immediate heirs. I'm all for a slimmed down monarchy that just consists of the immediate line of succession. The rest should get jobs and pay for their own lives, like everyone else does.

They are not interested in us. What they are really interested in is self preservation and preservation of their riches and privileges.

This. The Country is heading towards a critical situation with thousands of people who will soon be having to make the stark choice of whether to put on their heating, or put food in their bellies. While the richest family in the land sit back and do nothing, as far as I am concerned.

Dysfunctional, self-serving and out of touch. All of them. I would like to see the RF either abolished or pared down massively. Their vast riches and estates should largely be given back to the British people, and there should be a limit on how many properties each of them owns. Their inherited, unearned wealth is obscene and has no place in today's world.

That said I quite like Camilla and Princess Anne.

Nishky32 · 22/08/2022 14:08

What would be the best use of palaces should they be returned to the public? Could they be used as housing or kept as museums to provide revenue.

One of the more grand and remote cottages could be given to me to live in, rent free.

As I won't be taking dodgy money from shieks, getting involved in abusive sex rings, tax dodging or getting laws changed to suit me, I will be a far less malevolent tennant than the current lot. Grin

jewishmum · 22/08/2022 14:12

Their palaces and mansions should be turned into affordable housing and homeless refuges.

Unpopular opinion

I really like the Royal Family, and think that (most of them) work really hard.

I agree. They can't help what they are burn into. They do work hard and William and Catherine try very hard to connect with the public.

tonicwaters · 22/08/2022 14:16

Unpopular opinions?

The Queen is a smug two faced self serving fossil.

Camilla is a manipulative cheating bitch. She laughs so we think we like her.

Charles is a wonderful man, full of integrity, loyalty to his first wife, and espouses planet loving ideals. Looks after his Crown Estate tenants like they were family.

They should have as many houses and palaces and castles as they want, they are their feudal entitlements.

Tourists love them and their palaces. They see the RF every time they come over on the balcony waving at them. Worth the trip honey.

VerifiedBot2351 · 22/08/2022 14:16

I find it infuriating that there is a news article today about William and Kate moving house and giving their children as normal an upbringing as possible. So will they have second hand uniform? Will they worry about the upcoming massive fuel bills? Will they go without food so they have petrol to get to work?

Will they heck!

Echobelly · 22/08/2022 14:22

I'm not massively bothered about them either way. I'd probably prefer they went the way of various continental royals and paid more of their own way - they could easily do so through their immense land wealth.

MrsOwainGlyndŵr · 22/08/2022 14:25

I really like Camilla - me too
Diana was a manipulative bitch who turned on "the look" for the cameras - I agree, and a bit dim too
Charles is ok - I also agree - for instance he's said a lot of stuff about the environment which people laughed at, but which we now realised we should have taken seriously
Queen is on her last legs - I think she's got a few years in her yet
I like Harry- too much like his mother, whingy, dim, entitled
Megan has had a hard time but she doesn't help herself - kind of agree, though she came in with an agenda, and Harry misled her about what to expect from RF live
Don't think Andrew did that much wrong (she would have been legal in this country and most other states) - true, it wasn't illegal in this country, but all the same, he had sex with a girl the same ages as his daughters, and cavorted with a known paedophile who was also a dodgy business man (even invited them to holiday at Balmoral) which would be unwise, even if Andrew is/was squeaky clean himself

Wagsandclaws · 22/08/2022 14:32

I think Andrew is dodgy as fuck and is as self serving as the rest of the family he belongs to.

This is the unpopular opinion ...

What I don't understand is why he is called 'peado' and 'nonce' when I've never seen any articles or evidence that he engages in sex with actual
Children 🤷‍♀️

Teenagers ( that's gross yes! ) but not children. As someone else pointed out upthread she would have been legal pretty much everywhere else. I was having sex at 17, not with a 40 plus yo man no but I was having sex at that age.

Whether he knew she was trafficked is a different question but still doesn't make him a peadophile. His brother on the other hand was besties with Sir Jimmy Saville so ... ?

There was an article published by the daily fail which interviewed another of JE's victim who was brought in by VG as she was not only his sex slave but she was required to recruit other young girls for him.

She said that VG texted her saying guess who ive just had sex with!? PA! And, that VG has made a lot of money from this and got a lot more when she and the other other victims got nothing bar a cursory amount due to them not actually being the ones that were suing PA.

It's an unpopular opinion but I don't think he should be called 'nonce' when he isn't a peadophile ? If he is I haven't seen anything that backs that up?

I don't like him, I don't like the whole family much as I think it's a bit of an outdated thing now but that's always perplexed me?

LadyKenya · 22/08/2022 14:38

I agree with the pp. It is not correct to call PA a paedophile. It is a strong accusation to make. There is no evidence that he had sex with a child, or is sexually attracted to children. That is what makes someone a paedophile.

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 22/08/2022 14:41

A decent haircut would take years off Princess Anne.

Not sure that’s an unpopular opinion, but I felt the need to get it out.

So do you only have a "normal" life if you're going hungry in second hand uniform whilst their parents worry about the fuel bills? My kids don't go hungry, they don't have second hand uniform, I concede most of us are worried about the fuel costs. We're not wealthy, DH earns 30k and I don't work.

Atmywitsend29 · 22/08/2022 14:47

The monarchy should die with the Queen.

How can both of those things be true?

I read that last part as sarcasm. It's the only way to read it.

RaRaRaspoutine · 22/08/2022 15:07

My unpopular opinion probably can't be published.
