I am just interested to see your opinions about the royal family. No judgement. And it can be from any royal family, not just the British one.

Well actually, it would. Illegitimate children have never been eligible to succeed to the throne. The course of history would be very different if they had.

True very true, I hadn't had enough coffee. In my defence I was thinking of the younger two tbh. It would be extra reassuring to know that A is even further away from the throne than I thought. And his offspring.

Edward IV might have been illegitimate, supposedly, which is why we get the 'rightful Queen Shirley in Australia' stories pop up on every so often on the teatime news.

William and Harry should've had the balls to not have their own children. If their lives have been as awful as they claim living in a goldfish bowl etc it was morally wrong to bring another generation into it to suffer the same fate.

And,

Some of the children aren't Philip's.

Trotting out that old trope, give over.

KnickerlessParsons · 31/08/2022 14:02

As I said, it's obvious Charles is Philips son as Harry is the spit of Phil. Which means William must be legitimate too as same father.

It hardly matters whether they’re Pip’s or not. It matters that they’re the monarch’s.

Indeed. I don’t think there’s any doubt that they are all the queen’s children. Whatever speculation there might be about anything else. 😆

Well Charles must be, because Harry is the spit of Philip.

They all look the same as each other. It's centuries of inbreeding.

Honestly, look at them. They all have the same face. It's freaky. Like Deliverance.

LaMarschallin · 01/09/2022 07:53

Certainly Philip, Charles and Harry have the same extremely close set eyes.
Of course, that's not over centuries like the Hapsberg jaw or something.

How about you post a photo of your face on here for us to critique?

Don’t understand why the Royal Family continues to showcase the kohinoor as if it’s cool to take priceless gems from 11 year old children separated from their Queen Mother. Because that’s essentially what happened. Kohinoor and kingdom was signed over in a dodgy legal Treaty by an 11 year old child (separated from his QM) and surrendered to the Queen of England.

Just been having a discussion about this diamond on another thread. Needs adding here too.

Royal family’s possession of kohinoor is one thing. But how they showcase the diamond like there’s no history to be critical of raises questions about their moral compass.

Could you link me to that, I'd be interested

Sure. Here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4624584-to-think-its-reasonable-to-return-the-elgin-marbles-to-athens

On the theme of repatriation. Started off being about the Elgin marbles but includes the Kohinoor later on in discussion. They are separate issues that get conjoined quite often, like twins, despite one being from Greece and the other from the Punjab, India.

“The fact that [David Cameron] conjoined two such widely differing cases as the Koh-i-Noor diamond and the Parthenon Marbles, and the fact that he called the latter the "Elgin" Marbles suggests that he does not appreciate what a simplistic and inadequate concept ‘returnism’ is.” - Eddie O’Hara

Oh and kohinoor has a frightening curse. So a pp thought Charles or William might return it. But to who? Who wants a frightening curse?

Many thanks 😊

It’s common for family members to look similar to each other - the Royal family aren’t special in that respect.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 03/09/2022 09:00

Nah it’s because of inbreeding.

Diana injected some good genes, but the rest…..😂

I'm not sure I'd describe the Spencer genes as "good genes"!

Malie · 05/09/2022 07:54

always amuses me how many ‘experts’ we suddenly get at breeding and genes in threads like this!

Malie · 05/09/2022 07:57

Whatever the mistakes the Royal Family make (and they do - like us all, they are a real family) I do prefer them representing us than some ghastly politician who has been put out to grass. Can you imagine : President Blair, President Boris, President Khan….

Roussette · 05/09/2022 08:07

Can you imagine Mary Robinson or Michael Higgins. I can.

derxa · 05/09/2022 08:23

I can imagine it but worthy as they are it would be as dull as ditch water.

Novella4 · 05/09/2022 09:05

It doesn't matter who the elected person is , dull, inspiring , left , right ....

The point is they stand for election.

Novella4 · 05/09/2022 09:11

@Malie
As it stands you have a ghastly bunch leeching off an increasingly impoverished country and there is not a damn thing you can do about it . Not only leeching but also doing as they please with a nod and a wink behind the scenes .

If Charles/ William / George are so great let them stand for election as president / chief seat warmer whatever title you want .

I don't live to see pretty dresses and ballgowns at film premieres!
There is more to consider

I do not actually insult my intelligence to think they are less ghastly than the politicians who would be elected

Novella4 · 05/09/2022 09:33

You are wrong- as it stands the Windsors have a little set up where the law doesn't apply to them .

In any case , ghastly , wonderful , whatever - let them stand with others and be elected.

The simple point is if your Windsors are so exceptional what is the problem ? They also have the advantage of centuries of brainwashing /PR to help

Roussette · 05/09/2022 09:36

The Queen has carried the RF for 70 years, we know no different. I think all that will change when she dies. Charles will have to tread a very careful path because the MSM will not be so generous about his numerous faux pas when he is Monarch

Novella4 · 05/09/2022 09:40

@Roussette
There will be an intense PR campaign when the queen dies too but young people are more media savvy in my experience. They see the strings
