i do find it funny how people say they dislike m are so obsessed with reading these shite books.

Hahaha yes!

As for updates, OMG where to begin with that? Should all the RF (who we pay for) provide updates on everything or is it only the one who we don't pay for and who lives thousands of miles away that should provide updates.

Samcro · 04/08/2022 11:48

they must trawl the internet daily to feed the obsession.

Readinginthesun · 04/08/2022 12:06

What a nasty bunch some of you are

Because we have a different opinion to you?

Didn't go the way you wanted, did it OP?

I haven't read FF but why does everyone believe that MM actually peed in the bush? Unless it's an autobiography directly from MM, I consider any book on the royal family members nothing but gossip.

KatharineofAragon · 04/08/2022 13:36

Why would Scobie make that up? He’s had e in glove with them. If it wasn’t true, he’d know about it.

Roussette · 04/08/2022 13:45

What does it matter if she had a piss in the bush?! It could be poetic licence for all we know, or it could be true! It's just such an irrelevance.

I don't care if she co-operated with the book or not. I had no opinion on Omid Scobie until he was on that Panorama documentary about the Princes. He came across so well... measured and thoughtful, far better than other RRs.

If we're talking books, it's good to see that the well researched 'Meghan Misunderstood' by Sean Smith is receiving really good reviews on Amazon.

He looks like a Disney animation.

Readinginthesun · 04/08/2022 14:53

Disagreement is fine but threads like these descend into aggressive bullying which is not fine .

I don't see bullying on this thread, just posters not all agreeing with the premise of your thread and with your view that you have to see an update on 40x40.
And a bit of banter about having a pee in the bush Grin

MarshaMelrose · 04/08/2022 15:11

If people were happy that Tom Bower wrote a book, then you can't really complain when Omid Scobie writes one.
If people are happy over Omid Scobies book, you can't really moan about Tom Bower's. It's hypocritical.

Anyone can write a book. But at this point is there anything new to say? More fool the people who spend good money on them.

Roussette · 04/08/2022 15:19

Wouldn't dream of reading them! There's enough extracts out there, especially if it's critical.

MarshaMelrose · 04/08/2022 15:21

I didn't really notice the 40 x 40 project. Was the idea to help just 40 women? I wonder who Adele mentored? I wonder if that was why she couldn't get her show together, the 40mins mentoring drained her mental energy. You'd think some of these mentees would have commented on the advantages they'd gained by being mentored by the likes of Hillary Clinton and share what they'd learned.

Roussette · 04/08/2022 15:30

No, it was 40 minutes mentoring on MM's 40th birthday. There has been some stories shared, I saw them at the time on SM.
Please don't ask me to go back and try and find them!

KatharineofAragon · 04/08/2022 15:33

The point about the FF book is that Meghan categorically denied having been involved. Then admitted she had been involved. It's a blatant piece of self promotion, designed to garner sympathy and criticise the RF. That's why it's under scrutiny. Fine for someone to write a book but lying about their involvement is something else, especially when it damages others.

What good is a one off 40 minute mentoring session to anyone?

Roussette · 04/08/2022 15:38

You are joking. What good is it? Isn't there someone you really admire that you would give your right arm to have them talk and inspire you for 40 minutes? I could write a list now.

Just because it's MM you are knocking it. That's it. The only reason. I give up.

MarshaMelrose · 04/08/2022 15:46

But I could only find a list of 26 people which was given after her birthday so did it happen on her birthday or just for her birthday? Of course the other 14 could have been added after her birthday. But I can't find the list on the Archewell website but the project is still listed there so I don't think it's just a birthday thing.
I don't get the problem with trying to help people. She's not hurting anyone and she's trying to help. Good for her. I do think it would be more beneficial if the advice from those people could be shared with everyone so reaching even more people. So if they could have got the mentees to feed back on her website, it would have been better. I'd have loved to hear Hillary Clinton's 40mins advice. If people are reporting on SM (which I searched but couldn't find), why not invite them to do a Q&A on the Archewell website.
With no follow through or follow up, it feels a bit flat and a wasted opportunity.

KatharineofAragon · 04/08/2022 15:50

For someone to really be able to help as in coaching, you need a lot longer than 40 mins. You also need background info on the person, goals , achievements etc. It’s a nonsense. A chat with a ‘celebrity’ for fun is something quite different.

And just to add, without any comment from the 26 famous mentors and/or mentees, it does lead to speculation that any if these sessions even happened. And then that undermines MMs credibility. She doesn't deserve that. So I think its been poorly handled.

Roussette · 04/08/2022 15:53

It seems to have worked and people have benefited from it. And maybe they don't want their personal mentoring session made public? That could be the case for either the mentor or the mentee. Not sure I would.
MM can do this how she wants, she doesn't owe us anything. And let's face it, however she did it would be wrong.

I now have a list in my head of who I'd like a session with!

Mochudubh · 04/08/2022 15:57

Is it just me that opened this hoping that Omid Djalili had written a book about the Royal Family? A bit like The Queen and I.
