I can’t find anything in the Mail at all about “Kate and Carole driving staff away“.

There is one quote, from an Ashley Pearson, that was picked up in both the Mirror and Marie Claire -

“Speaking in [TV Program] William & Kate: The Journey, royal expert Ashley Pearson claimed Kate's head housekeeper and head gardener [a married couple] left their positions because they couldn't handle how much Kate wanted to do for herself….There was a lot of speculation at the time that Carole Middleton had been interfering in the housekeeper's duties, that Kate Middleton was doing a lot for herself and that didn't sit too well with staff.

Kate is in a difficult position because she didn't grow up with household servants. She likes to cook, she likes to do things for William, and she very much likes the privacy one gets without servants around

Ashley Pearson does occasionally contribute stories to The Mail, but not on this topic, and mostly they relate to celebrities and their beauty regimes/holiday choices. Most of her past stories about Kate Middleton revolve around how she lost her baby weight…

Again, no allegation that they were bullying staff, and no two-page spread in the Mail - just a comment by a talking head in a tv show that was then quoted in a couple of publications

That’s two strikes.

did you read the article. Making someone redundant isn't bullying.

When I googled and looked in online newspaper archives I found tons of stuff. The two-page spread in the Daily Mail about Kate and Carole driving staff away is easily found, as is the much more recent article about Kate firing her staffer while the staffer was on her honeymoon with quotes from "unnamed friend" saying the staffer found Kate bad to work for. All very easily found.

Sorry but I'm not your chivvy.

I've provided proof a hundred times and every single time it's been used to attack and belittle me, in a "OMG can you believe Jemima is such an obsessed nutcase she actually went to the bother of researching old articles!" way. Not once has anyone ever said "oh fair play, thanks for posting those links."

Why should I keep obeying your demands, when they are very obviously not being made in good faith?

I don't believe for a second that any of you would say "thanks for finding those links" because it's literally never happened once in four years. Not to mention I've asked Meghan bashers for proof of their allegations a million times, not once has anyone ever done so. Three times lately I've caught people making the most outrageous and easily disproven statements and they've just vanished the second I asked for proof. Of course people can say whatever hateful libellous claims they like about Meghan and there's never a pile-on demanding proof.

Obviously just asking to be goady and because you want to provoke a reaction.

But thanks for diverting the thread away from attacking a biracial man for daring to write non-negatively about a biracial woman.

I think we can safely assume that there are no such articles as several of us have tried - and failed- to find any .
Thank you in advance for any reputable links.

Exactly . And she wasn’t replaced so clearly no longer required . No story and certainly no bullying.

I assume those saying they've never heard of it are young (though it is funny how many posters "have never ever heard of" anything negative or critical towards the RF even if those things were extremely high profile, yet have heard every single negative tweet or obscure gossip blog post about Meghan).

The bullying allegation against Diana were absolutely all over the press at the time, and over the past year or so tons of newspapers and magazines have dug out old newspaper articles from the 1990s to compare the bullying allegations made against Diana with the same ones made about Meghan. Almost word for word the same.

Hell the tabloids even said the same thing about Kate, when she and Will were first married (or may have been when they first moved to Norfolk) there were tons of tabloids headlines speculating on the reasons so many Cambridge staff had left, quoting "anonymous insiders" as saying that Kate and Carole were nightmares to work for and ignored protocol, and claiming the reason so many staff left the Cambridge household was because of Kate's poor behaviour. The Daily Mail did a two-page spread on "the Cambridge staff exodus" accusing Kate and Carole of driving staff away, which was barely a word different from the same articles they later wrote about Meghan.

In reality, royal household staff move all the time because of the low pay and it's just the culture there, and of course a major change in household or location is going to result in staff changes. Royals change staff all the time, the Cambridges lost more staff that the Sussexes during the period the Sussexes were being slammed for losing staff. Just media manipulation.

The media decides who we're supposed to hate and who we're supposed to love, and acts accordingly.

You have made 3 allegations & accused some of us of lying as we don’t remember these allegations.

Please provide links as I can’t find them. I am almost 60 so accept may not remember them but resent being called a liar for not remembering something that happened more then 25 years ago.

Thanks for the links above. Don't see the connection to bullying.

Struggling to find the hundreds that you mentioned @JemimaPuddlegoose . Not asking for a rant about what you feel has happened in the past to you, just a pointer for the links to which you refer.

LaMarschallin · 23/08/2022 16:14

But it wasn't Kate and Carole being talked about.
The original premise was that there were articles in the tabloids about Diana bullying staff printed during her lifetime (the 1980s and 90s).
People who were adults during that time (including me) are saying they don't remember any such articles at that time.

MarshaMelrose · 23/08/2022 19:54

Kate's head housekeeper and head gardener [a married couple] left their positions because they couldn't handle how much Kate wanted to do for herself.

That Katherine, eh. What a bitch cooking her own tea and having a quick flick round the the duster. 🙄

antelopevalley · 23/08/2022 23:51

@LaMarschallin I do not know how. There were plenty of articles saying this.
Or are you being "technically" correct because the many articles alleged Diana behaved in a bullying way but did not use the phrase bully?

LaMarschallin · 24/08/2022 07:51

antelopevalley

No. I understand the definition of "bulllying" even if the word isn't used.
What I (and several other PPs have said) is that I don't remember any articles describing Diana bullying staff appearing in print during her lifetime.

I don't mean the books that came out after she died; not articles from "as far back" as 2020; not articles about Kate and Carole.

I am told there were "lots and lots" of articles.
I don't remember any that fit the parameters above.
I can't prove a negative.
Posters can say again and again that I (and others) or lying or have bad memories and that there were many such articles: that doesn't prove anything either.

I've said before but it obviously bears repeating: I'm not trying to score points for one part of the RF over another. I read these threads out a mild interest in the RF (and an increasing and baffled interest in some of the arguments and, imo, obsessive behaviour here).
I certainly don't want to get into some stupid argument because (as the old joke has it) "Somebody on the internet is wrong".

Well said! I stated a couple of days ago that I had never seen any allegations about Diana being accused of bullying by staff and, to be honest, was quite taken aback to be called a liar and a royal stan (not sure what this even means) I think this was the first time in years I had posted anything and don't think I'll be bothering again. Strangely enough I was badly bullied in school and this is provoking a similar feeling.

La Marschallin, I always enjoy reading your posts. They are always very measured with a touch of humour and ro the point.

Now that I think about it, the last time I posted on a Royal thread (a few years back), a poster used the phrase "like a rat up a drainpipe" and was accused of all sorts of racism. I think the accuser must have been American and didn't know it meant someone moving really quickly and was most definitely nothing to do with race! It became horrendous with words being twisted and a lot of very unpleasant comments and accusations.

There were no articles about Diana being a bully as everyone knows. What is happening here is an attempt to reconstruct the past in order to dilute M's own behaviour in the context of other people's, in this case, Diana's and Kate's.

Not too sure what rules MN thinks I broke- when all sorts are left standing. Was it me posting out that some words were not used a long time ago, which may upset some people ?

But thanks MN, I will be driven away from these threads as you like.

@MaulPerton But there were many articles about Diana mistreating her staff. Not sure if the word bully was used, but the accusations did happen.

Wee derail - sorry- but “ publishing sources” are saying that Harry is delaying publishing his book as he is reconsidering some of his “ truth bombs”.
For the sake of building bridges I do hope so.

There were not (many articles about Diana mistreating her staff). It's pointless keeping this charade going. M's behaviour cannot be rehabilitated by framing it as 'the others did it too'. They all had/have their own issues but bullying staff will only ever be associated with M.

Samcro · 25/08/2022 09:37

interesting, did BP make the bullying investigation public, I haven't seen that, did it prove M had been a bully?.

There were many articles. There are articles as recent as 2020 saying this about Diana.
One allegation - Evelyn Dagley, “found herself at the sharp end of Diana's tongue” upon occasion. He alleged Diana once said: “Look at this f shirt, Evelyn, look at it you idiot, it's rubbish, rubbish, rubbish — what is it Evelyn?

Diana had an easy time letting go of staff members who weren’t properly doing their jobs. Royal historian Louise Heron said that Diana had several nannies fired for improperly caring for the kids. “Nannies are sometimes sacked for inappropriate behavior, getting too close to the children,” Heron said.

There were headlines about her screaming at staff.

I have no idea what was true and I am not keen on posting anything negative about a dead woman. But the idea that these allegations were not made is simply untrue.
The reason people can not put links is that archives of newspapers are only available on paid for sites. You can not find newspapers from the 1980s and1990s through a simple google search. But a google search throws up plenty of articles from 2020 and years before where it is being alleged that Diana bullied staff.

antelopevalley · 25/08/2022 09:38

@Samcro the palace said they were not publishing the results of the report.
