Harry's speech at the UN

Just what is going on? Why does Harry think he is qualified to pronounce on various political matters in another country? Why is he invited and who cares what he thinks? Am I the only one thinking he is behaving like a total numpty?

I’m so conflicted by this. I honestly don’t know what to think.

Readinginthesun · 18/07/2022 20:10

notanotheroneagain

Who spends hours on someone they hate so much.

And who spends hours defending a couple of numpties ?

Travelled by private jet! Well that’s a self-centred, self promoting act to take the job on. No consideration for the planet. Is he supposed to be a man of the world?

Well it’s ok if his brother does it

Madasahattersteaparty1749 · 18/07/2022 20:35

He seems to be airbrushing his father out of anything. I think this photo of Prince Charles and Nelson Mandela laughing is such a lovely one.

Readinginthesun · 18/07/2022 21:52

A private jet to talk to about 25 people for 20 minutes !

Wartywart · 18/07/2022 22:01

Was it held in America? I think they invited him because he's basically their royal now so whenever they fancy having a royal make a speech or open something, they can invite him. Because Edward, Sophie, William, Charles etc wouldn't have come/been able to come.

KatharineofAragon · 18/07/2022 22:02

The irony of him stressing the dangers of climate change when he’s flown in by private jet just doesn’t seem to register with him.

I think we have to spend far too many hours wasting time watching these two numpties in the media. Letting off a bit of steam over it (in far less time than they take up wasting our time) - given the opportunity - is only natural!

I guess Harry (as Meghan's mouthpiece) has a similar globalist world view, so was deemed suitable.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 18/07/2022 22:10

Wait hold your horses- are you sure he flew by private jet? Should you check if he killed some puppies on the way, or perhaps set fire to a union jack or had lunch with morrisey?

So much rabid hatred still knocking around, even after all this time. He left you all in, what, 2020?

Germolenequeen · 18/07/2022 22:12

**Perfectlystill · Today 22:06

Agree. He's amazingly stupid and has done little of note in his life beyond marrying a scheming woman.**

Nailed it 👌

Jazzapples1 · 18/07/2022 22:13

If he was globalist he wouldn’t be travelling by private jet to another continent to give a 20 minute speech. There MUST have been someone more suitable closer by. Totally irresponsible decision and Mr Globalist should have pointed that out if he was being globally minded but he was minding his own interests.

Wow. MN at its best. Just goes to show that misogyny is not confined to men.

Jacopo · 18/07/2022 22:16

He’s not very bright. He doesn’t have many qualifications. He resigned from his royal duties. These are all reasons for making me wonder why he stands up and makes pronouncements.

Germolenequeen · 18/07/2022 22:16

No misogyny just facts - she is a woman and she is scheming 🤷‍♀️

MarshaMelrose · 18/07/2022 22:19

Loads of people address the UN. Lots of actors and actresses trying to raise their profile. That's all PH is doing. Publicising himself, Netflix in tow. Can't blame him for doing what everyone else is doing. And if he says meaningful and inciteful stuff, I can't see why that's a bad thing. As long as he doesn't go on about his family and the media. 🥱

What did he say?

KatharineofAragon · 18/07/2022 22:21

Why does he keep banging on and on about Diana? His father is a champion of climate change measures (although I don’t see him making any personal sacrifices either). He’s utterly fixated on her. He obviously think he’s continuing her ‘legacy’. Whatever that is supposed to mean.
I think Diana did great work on land mines and AIDs, but what is he actually achieving himself? Invictus is a great initiative, but since he left the UK he doesn’t seem to be doing anything much beyond talk gobbledygook.

I am asking why he was invited to speak.

Why don't you contact the Nelson Mandela Foundation if it worries you that much?

Lots of positivity about it out there apart from you of course

they are themselves threatening democracy

Oh don't be so silly! 🤣

Borisisafecklesstoad · 18/07/2022 22:26

The UN arent actually sitting right now, on summer break like the rest of the worlds politicians, i suspect they were addressing a room of interns, certainly not high ranking delegates

Roussette · 18/07/2022 22:30

Why does he keep banging on and on about Diana?

He mentioned her once.

He’s utterly fixated on her.

FFS it's his mother.
Have you ever lost anyone in a tragic accident? I bet not. I have. If he wants to talk of her from time to time, who are you to tell him to 'stop banging on'. Horrible comment from you.

He's achieving quite a lot actually, but don't let that get in the way of the vitriolic thread you started.

Roussette · 18/07/2022 22:34

According to you.

MarshaMelrose · 18/07/2022 22:49

As I've said, I don't understand why him speaking at the UN is a problem or a bad thing. If he has something useful to offer to the world's problems or shines a light on something opaque, I can't think why anyone would object to this.

However, I don't read the newspapers anymore so I don't really know what they do day to day unless it comes on a feed. (And I'm mainly interested in what she's,wearing. 😔) So any info I get is usually in a thread. I'd sort of come away thinking neither of them had achieved much so I'm interested to hear they have

@Roussette
He's achieving quite a lot actually,
So could I ask, to give me some perspective, what he has achieved or is achieving? I think he can do so much in his position and he seems motivated to do it.

Roussette · 18/07/2022 23:01

Marsha I'm on my phone now and can't do links, but there's lots out there. I agree, he wouldn't be asked to speak on Nelson Mandela Day if they didn't want him! I've seen a lot of positive comments about his speech.
He actually speaks well to an audience, pauses in the right places, puts across points well etc

justasking111 · 18/07/2022 23:06

Why was the audience so small. Is there some other even clash?
