Why did Harry and Meghan walk in alone?

knittedwithme · 05/06/2022 07:08

I have had a very busy weekend so have only been able to catch snippets of the jubilee weekend events but noticed how Harry and Meghan walked into the service together, seemingly after everybody else, including those sitting in front and behind them?
Why was this? I understand why they didn't walk in with the serving royals but it seemed strange that their entrance stood out so much.

Oh haha ridiculous! The venom and nastiness I've had thrown at me for YEARS for daring to call out vitriolic posts about another woman, Meghan is Off. The.Scale

Yet Bully for you is awful

Rightio

“Oh haha ridiculous!”

Another one. Why do you believe it’s appropriate to mock someone’s opinion and declare them “ridiculous”?

So you believe that you are justified in being less that polite and respectful and instead entitled to be rude and fractious?

Maybe reflect on your social skills and consider the actual intended impact they have had on your years and years of calling out - quite possibly it has been counterproductive.

We need to take people with us - not to alienate and polarise.

It looks like you pounce on people to shut them down - is that your intention? Would it not be better to educate and inform?

BerthaLovelock · 08/06/2022 11:55

I think she looked lovely in the black and white photos. She does casual very well - shirts etc, but some of the formal outfits seem to wear her rather than vice versa.

regarding the whole palaver I just think they were such idiots: H&M at their wedding were everyone’s darlings. They could have enjoyed privilege and glamour, gone on Commonwealth tours and Meghan would have been world famous. I bet they wish they could roll back time.

SoyMarina · 08/06/2022 11:47

Roussette is Meghan a personal friend of yours?
If not, you are worryingly overinvested.
She is a stunning woman and sometimes gets it right stylewise but not this time.
Anyone with the slightest fashion sense would agree that Coat outfit was wrong for her.
It did not flatter her in the slightest.

What a silly question. I just hate bullying which it ends up with on these threads.

As I said upthread, it is a difference of opinion and I was taken aback that anyone could think she didn't get it right stylewise, I thought she'd nailed it personally.
And no, I don't always like what she wears. That green outfit in church just before they left I thought was vile, but I hate capes on anyone.

But thank you for the barb saying that anyone with any fashion sense would agree that the coat outfit was wrong. And yet I get accused of being rude?

You obviously know best and the fact there's literally pages of articles praising her outfit means nothing because you have said and all the fashio gurus, magazines, articles... all the writers have no fashion sense. OK got you... you are the one who decrees this.

If only I could educate and inform. If only. If only. If only.

I have no idea how long you've been on MN or Meghan threads. Despite being reasonable, posting links, gently disagreeing, trying to have a decent discussion, I have had every type of rudeness directed at me endlessly. I've been mocked, ridiculed, insulted in every which way.

So according to you the word 'ridiculous' is now a crime, as .... in your previous post, me saying 'so there you go'. That was just me saying... that's it, that's my opinion. Why are you so obsessed with what I say and suggesting I work on my social skills... perhaps you need to think on that too, given that saying 'so there you go' is very rude according to you.

So spare me the sermon please.

We mirror the behaviour of those whom we champion.
We champion the behaviour of those with whom we share characteristics...

Really @Forinara, nice quote but what
did you mean by this comment in your previous post ?

Some people are born to wear haute couture and some people are born to wear Florence & Fred I guess..

Forinara · 08/06/2022 12:19

If only I could educate and inform. If only. If only. If only.

Don't worry - not everybody has the skills set to succeed in doin that. I'll pass on your version of education if you will spare me in future 😀

Roussette · 08/06/2022 12:23

Having noted your posts over a few days/week Forinara I prefer to not even try, because you can't educate some people. I want to be more strident in my response to you but the thread police will only call me out so I will leave it to your imagination after knocking my skill set.

Forinara · 08/06/2022 12:25

Couture is designed for the long, slim body type. High street fashion is cut for shorter, conventional body types of which she is a prime example. That is why you need to heavily alter OTP outfits in this case or accept that you look wrong in them.

Roussette · 08/06/2022 12:28

So Meghan is only suitable for supermarket clothes (now called OTP by you) and even those need altering and she can't wear those. Okaaaay..... Hmm

And you behave in exactly this same way to posters. Can you see that this hostile approach elicits further hostile responses?

And yes calling someone “ridiculous” is actually rude.

Maybe your social skills don’t extend to you being aware of this?

Others have called you out as rude. If you seriously want to educate and inform - recognise that your current approach hasn’t worked and reflect how you could do it better to achieve your goals.

Swayingpalmtrees · 08/06/2022 12:35

It is a brilliant idea!! And would save a small fortune and be donated to domestic violence units and food banks. And she would look so much better - win win I would say.

I would also say roussette is the biggest biggest fan and will go to the very ends of the earth. She deserves an award for literally being the only person on some threads with the opposing view and still slogging it out for hours on end. The Oprah threads especially when no one could really defend the indefensible etc.

PreparationPreparationPrep · 08/06/2022 12:45

I doubt they wish they could go back - they have a new life - I really don't understand why posters think this - why can't some people just accept that! Even if they decided to leave US which I doubt very much for sometime there are many other countries to choose from. Comparing them to before they left they look much much happier where they are - their children are there and they have built a network around them including Doria. The children will also build friendships - I wonder what it is that you think they are missing. W&K's or Edward and Sophie's life is not attractive for everyone. It is possible to build a close support network of trusted friends who are more like family than your own. Doria will have older friends and family that you might not have seen in the tabloids - and the children will have uncles and aunts who may not be close blood related and Admittedly they may not be wearing crowns and tiaras but I am sure the children are surrounded by lots of care and love. So they don't really need any pity. I hope they don't come back to stay and any visit is flying visit or the public are not informed .
This is prime example
The jubilee
They don't want them to come because they will overshadow the Queen
They should come
They come but but should not be seen
They shouldn't have come as they weren't seen enough.
And when posters can't find anything worthwhile to criticise they go for the predictable - her figure , her makeup , her clothes with disingenuous concern because it is high end price tag. It is laughable except it really isn't funny. She looked beautiful, kept her head down and did what she came to do. I am sure if you spent half the time studying the detail of other RF outfits you would find similar not so perfect fitting but most people would have a life wouldn't have the time for that

Roussette · 08/06/2022 12:50

Nothing nothing nothing on the scale I had to put up with. Literally nothing like it. You have NO idea.

If anyone is annoyed with my
"Ridiculous
So there it is
Bully for you
Your nastiness" and finds that breaks the TGs
Just Report me. That's fine. I am happy to be moderated.

Stop twisting my words. I don't call people names, show me where I have said 'you are ridiculous'. Yes I call a post ridiculous, that is mild, but I don't indulge in personal insults

Do you have any idea how patronising your post is? Really? I would not be so rude as to criticise your posting style. I could. Believe me. I could. But I won't.

Say what you want from now on. I am personally stopping this conversation with you. You obviously have a problem with me and wish to lecture me on how I post. You will be talking to an empty room.

Have yourself a nice rest of day.

Is this your bullying tactic? - there are plenty of us who defended M&H on the Oprah interview I am one of them. I stoped going on the threads as the bitching towards Meghan became obsessive and intolerable and I suspect many others have for a similar reason. But you carry on ...as I always said I can understand someone using their headspace to support something or someone but is it not draining to use your headspace on negative and nasty comments on a woman who has done nothing to you and more importantly doesn't even know you exist.

Roussette · 08/06/2022 12:52

@Swayingpalmtrees

Well done for jumping in!

The Oprah threads especially when no one could really defend the indefensible etc

Probably about 20 times on MN I have said they should not have done the OW interview but hey.. don't let that stop you having a dig.

But that isn't always true - Meghan has worn plenty of Couture and looks stunning - I'm sure she will again.

the only actual expert I’ve heard comment was Amanda Wakeley and she said “Dior haute couture apparently” and moved swiftly on. Anyway, the rest of us see what we see and form our own opinion. We don’t have to agree or disparage others for having a different view. My view is that Meghan can look fantastic but frequently gets it utterly wrong and this was one of those times.

Roussette · 08/06/2022 13:05

My view the opposite. There are lots of articles out there praising her outfit.

But, hey, we're all entitled to our opinion. Even if they differ

copied from the NYPost -

Reports from multiple other outlets claim Harry, 37, and Markle, 40, wanted their personal photographer to take happy snaps of the Queen and Lilibet — but were shut down. According to one anonymous source, they were told: “No chance. It was a private family event,” the Sun originally reported. That leaker also claimed the Queen’s minders were worried that Harry and Markle would leak the photos to US television networks.
However, a source with knowledge of the situation told The Post that claim is bunk.
“They just enjoyed a private and intimate visit with the Queen,” the source said, adding that Harry and Markle didn’t even bother asking for photos as the 96-year-old monarch wasn’t feeling well.
Elizabeth’s communications secretary declined The Post’s request for comment about the conflicting reports.

@PreparationPreparationPrep
Your post at 12.45 is spot on.

Whatever they do is wrong. Turn up, don't turn up, smile, don't smile, walk wrong, wear the wrong clothes, stay discreet how dare they. It does make me laugh actually, it's so predictable.

Classic hostile tactics - no capacity for reflection just attacks then flounces.

Seemingly not capable of entering into or navigating constructive civilised dialogue.

I am trying to help you see how tempering your tone would support your valid points rather than backfire on you.

@Roussette do you have any insight into why you think this is so?

She does casual very well - shirts etc, but some of the formal outfits seem to wear her rather than vice versa I agree, she also suits more streamlined and minimalist style of clothes. designer clothes like Jason wu, Brandon Maxwell etc, suit her best.

but why did some jumped into the conclusion that Dior Couture is beneath Meghan , just because few posters commented on the fit? I personally loved it and love the colour , it’s Greige by the way, but the fit was just wrong on her, too tight on the arm and back. Also fabric kept riding up the belt , this shouldn’t happen to a an expensive couture piece
anyone following Diet Prada or I deserve couture on IG would get it, as they’ve also voiced how Dior couture finishing on so many celebs in the past couple of years always looks unfinished and wrong.

Roussette · 08/06/2022 13:50

Griege! That's it, I knew it was something like that.

Sorry Snog I am unsure what you are asking
