How do you think this will go down? And will the British public ever accept Camilla as Queen Consort?

OP posts:
DeedIDo · 05/02/2022 22:14

I'm happy with this and pleased for Camilla. After a shaky start, she has not put a foot wrong and her unstuffy approach is a godsend.

However, I don't expect the Diana lovers to approve.

Viviennemary · 05/02/2022 22:16

I just read this too. No I dont agree with this at all. We were told she wouldn't be Queen. Backpeddling again. Sick of the lot of them tbh.

Kitkat151 · 05/02/2022 22:19

I think Camilla has done a great job....and she is well accepted by the public these days...I don’t foresee any problems at all

So why do you even care? 🙄

I agree, I have always admired her.

How does this actually affect you?

SandandFog · 05/02/2022 22:23

I think it's the right decision, she's done a good job and I feel she's earned her stripes.

I agree. She had big shoes to fill and was always going to suffer from being "the other woman".

But she's played a blinder - low key, supportive, taking the Duchess title rather than the Princess title. I think she'd be a lot of fun, she comes across as smart and funny.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 05/02/2022 22:24

I think it's the right decision too.

OverByYer · 05/02/2022 22:25

I think she deserves it. She’s behaved with dignity the last 20 years.

jerometheturnipking · 05/02/2022 22:26

Ultimately how anyone feels about it is irrelevant. She’ll be married to the King when the time comes, and thems the breaks. The only way people get to not accept it is by abolishing the monarchy 🤷🏻‍♀️

Same as when people say “it should skip Charles and go straight to William”. Not how it works.

BoodleBug51 · 05/02/2022 22:26

I like Camilla. She comes across as very genuine and warm. I can imagine that she finds Charles stuffy, and I like that she kept her own home for entertaining her family. I think she keeps him very grounded.

MrsTimRiggins · 05/02/2022 22:29

I can’t see why she shouldn’t be, she’s an asset to the royal family unlike some of the absolute liabilities she has the misfortune to have as in laws!
I expect the rabidly obsessed Diana fan base will be horrified. There’s something quite odd about the hysteria around her and her saint-like status while vilifying Camilla and entirely overlooking Charles.

Exactly!
Lampshading · 05/02/2022 22:31

Happy for camilla, seems like a good decision. She is much much much better suited to Charles than Diana was, and she seems to have contributed a lot to the RF.

Pity she and Charles didn't behave with dignity before that Hmm

Think this is an appalling decision.

jerometheturnipking · 05/02/2022 22:36

🤦🏻‍♀️ It’s not a decision. Her not being Queen Consort would be breaking with tradition.

Hapoydayz · 05/02/2022 22:40

It's how it works, don't see the problem

Puzzledandpissedoff · 05/02/2022 22:40

Yet another error of judgement by the Queen IMO - what with Andrew and now this she seems to be developing quite a knack

Surprised, too, that on a (rightly) anti-racist forum there should be such support for someone with Camilla's tastes. I've posted this before, but perhaps she could bring her little hallway decoration with her to Buck House?

FlorrieLindley · 05/02/2022 22:46

Are there any women on here who are saying that if you marry a divorced man you are not entitled to be styled "Mrs so-and-so" just because his previous wife held that title?

Diana has been dead for a quarter of a century, and Charles and Camilla have been married for nearly 16 years.

She will be the spouse of the monarch and the de facto queen consort. Just like the present Queen's mother was.

mummykel16 · 05/02/2022 22:47

I think it's a good idea, things could be much worse, look at who Harry married for goodness sake.

BeMoreGoldfish · 05/02/2022 22:51

It’s literally the only way this works - why does anyone think there’s an option?!

As PP have said, the only way we get a choice is if we abolish the whole outdated bullshit once and for all. Let’s stop tugging our forelocks and pretending she does a “great job”! Great job at doing what exactly?!?

He married a lovely black American woman named Megan Markle. See how easy it is to remember?

Looks like she sees nothing wrong with black people being depicted in art, and not sidelined, another plus
