This is according to the DM. Over the withdrawal of his security funding. Shock

Yes, I think it's to reinforce that he has not ''left''. It's to remind us of his narrative, that he stepped down as a ''senior'' royal. He is still royal. Lest we forget.

justasking111 · 17/01/2022 08:20

If he's coming for the jubilee I wonder where he'll staying it's going to be a fraught stay everyone scared anything they say will be leaked

ttcstinks · 17/01/2022 08:24

Is Harry asking for something unusual? Genuine question, or doe most famous people get access to police?

If it's not the done thing then he is being a total asshole.

If others get it that are not the royal family then guess he's being reasonable.

Bunnyfuller · 17/01/2022 08:25

@Nishkin

Charles went to sea long after then, never full deployments but he was there!

Nishkin · 17/01/2022 08:33

@Bunnyfuller not in active service then though?

Justkeeppedaling · 17/01/2022 08:33

Could you provide a source to show they have no friends? And they just want to do a business deal?

I can't provide a source, but several of his friends have been quoted in the press as saying they've been dumped by Harry.

Whether he wins or loses he is forcing the British taxpayer to fund lawyers to present the opposite case. So one way or another we have to pay for something! Luckily those lawyers aren’t paid as much as his Schillings lawyers. What would be interesting is whether parties pay their own costs or whether he asks the govt (us, taxpayers) to pay his legal fees should the review go his way.

UserBot314159 · 17/01/2022 08:50

He must know he can't win this case. If he were to win then any rich person could apply to use the police.

By his own declarations (on Oprah) he is not rich enough to be considering himself in this much danger. On the one hand, Daddy cut him off, but on the other hand, he's worried about his family being kidnapped?

If he had enough money to put himself in danger of kidnap he'd just pay for his own security.
Is he poor or is he rich? If he's poor is he in as much danger as he thinks he is?!?

They'll be well protected at Jubilee events, in the Abbey, BP, Clarence House, Windsor, wherever. The nannies will be with the children at a secure royal residence. All very safe and secure.
However, if they go on independent engagements, be they charitable or commercial, that's where the problem will lie.
So they'll with have to limit themselves to being part of general royal protection because of where they are and who they're with, or pay for their own if they're out doing their own thing.
That's my reading of it, please someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I may well be missing something as I know absolutely nothing about security and protection.

The review is going to cost us, the tax payers, 100,000gbp

Link please.

I've searched and cannot find anything on that. Have you made up that figure?

p.s. I don't look at the DFail

Maireas · 17/01/2022 09:04

Right, thanks Snowdrops, I wasn't very clear.
I would have thought that if Harry was considered to be in danger (ie not just paps) he'd get appropriate protection from the state coffers?

Roussette · 17/01/2022 09:05

So this is about what the RF will not be covering - mainly commercial deals - connected almost certainly to the 'book'

Could you link to the supposed commercial deals he will be doing if he comes? You are talking if this is fact. It isn't. It's what's in your head

Last time it was a Childrens' Charity.

@Snowdropsinourforest

The UK is a free country and photographers are free to take photos as much as they like. Harry might not like it, but it is not dangerous for someone to take your photo, nor does it pose any kind of risk.
This is true. You'd think he'd be able to cope with his photo in the paper by now.
Roussette · 17/01/2022 09:11

I can't see the figure of £100,000 in there? That's what you said it was costing.

WhiterShadeofPale3 · 17/01/2022 09:13

The more he moans and whines, the more he raises his profile. I would have thought he is even more likely to be chased by photographers now.
If he just shut up and lived his life, interest and attention would fade away and there would be less of a threat as a result. That isn’t really wha the wants.
Any material he can get whilst in the UK will be used for Netflix or his tell all book.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 17/01/2022 09:19

I think he’s on a hiding to nothing. 1) he is now a (very rich) private citizen 2) he provides nothing of value to the UK 3) the police are not available for anyone (no matter how rich and/or famous) to hire 4) does he think there are highly trained officers sitting around, drinking tea and doing nothing? Or are we, as tax payers supposed to fund extra officers for just in case he comes over and wants them?

UserBot314159 · 17/01/2022 09:23

before charles married camilla he arranged security for camilla, ex royal bodyguards, they knew the score but they were for hire because they weren't officially in the game anymore.

UserBot314159 · 17/01/2022 09:30

ex royal protection officers I mean. If Charles could do it for Camilla before they were married, it's more than possible.

I think Camilla was probably in more danger than Harry and Meghan are. Camilla was so hated.

This is an article from Cornerstone Chambers about judicial review costs to the public purse.
