Why is Andrew allegedly the Queen's "favourite son"?

I have read this a few times over the years and yesterday mentioned in most media outlets.
The Queen seems like a sensible sort with good judgement, and he has this reputation as a sleazy lazy twonk.
Of course I know from mn about the golden child syndrome who is actually pretty useless, but surely the Queen is above such things?
If anyone has any ideas on this I'd love to know because I'm stumped! (I'm also procrastinating because I'm on a deadline)

Harry looks like a young Prince Phillip. Sorry but I don't think that is true. Prince Philip was the best looking of the lot of them, none of his children or grandchildren are as handsome and I don't think any of them are as clever at least his children aren't I don't know about the GC.

I agree that Harry does not look like a young Phillip.

The reason Andrew is supposed to be the Queen's favourite son is that she had far more time to spend with Andrew and Edward. And while Edward was shy, Andrew was funny and mischievous as a child. Andrew and the Queen just seem to enjoy each others company more.

Harry looks like a young Prince Phillip. The only think he and Hewitt share is red hair (although a different shade). The press always choose photos where it's an angle that makes them alike!

Harry is only the ‘spit’ of JH if having the same colour hair (different shade and texture) is all it takes…

They don’t look anything alike.

@CHEM20 that article is such a reach. The shape of their faces and chins is different as is the shape of their noses. They are both men with their faces in a similar pose. They really do not look alike.

Edward was rumoured to be gay. He left the Marines after serving for 3 years. This caused a major row with Philip. He started working in the theatre as an assistant. He then formed a production company and made Its a Royal Knockout. His company was seen as a joke in the industry and collapsed with large debts. I think if he had gone from being an assistant and working his way up, he might have been fine. But he simply did not have the experience to run a production and film company. He then went into royal duties and married Sophie. From then on he has had a low profile.

@CHEM20 Superficially you could say they look similar in the first two photos, they are both young white men, they are both in uniform, they have similar expressions. but Harry has smaller more hooded eyes, Harry has a broader nose, Philip has bigger ears, their faces are a different shape with Philips narrowing in the lower third. So no they don't look the same.

Hmmm. Looking at photos of Lord Porchester and Andrew there does seem to be a resemblance. There again, Harry is the spit of James Hewitt.

It's even more than that, they both have two ears and two eyes but only one nose. Proves it doesn't it.

And compared to James Hewitt... They only have hair colour in common...

Have you watched the crown? It's very strongly hinted at that he was the favourite. Obviously a drama but lots of accuracies

Edward was Phillip's favourite. Andrew the Queen's because she had him after a long break, got to be a present mother and was more relaxed.

Andrew was once young, good-looking and a hero. And as such was a positive asset to the royal family. Now he seems to be an unattractive, fat, entitled sleaze. and as such is an absolute liability. I doubt he is still the "favourite"!

I thought Andrew was the spare? It wasn't until Kate was pregnant the last time that the queen changed it so succession didn't skip the females . Or so I thought

Photos of all three. It is far easier to see the true shape of Harry's face before he had a beard.
I have zero idea if there could be any truth to the rumours. I don't think it really matters either way except for the people directly involved. But I don't think photos can prove or disprove it.

He is the Queens child. I have never known a mum like her child less because he is fat and unattractive. I think it has been apparent for a long time that Andrew is an entitled sleaze.

If there was any truth in the Hewitt rumours, they’d have been proven by now. Any tabloid journo worth their salt would’ve wiped a strand of hair, run the DNA test and sold the story for £$€£$€.

@RussiasGreatestLoveMachine you can only do DNA from hair if the root is still attached. Most hair strands do not have this.
