Does anyone know when the appeal judgement will be made.

“Sources exclusively confirm” means that theonlyjournalist publication who has been given the information is ABC and GMA.

@Serenster this does not mean that Scobie himself broke the story or had exclusive access.

Aspiringmatriarch · 14/11/2021 13:09

@Serenstershe never said they were not willing to lie for her, she said they were willing to lie for others and not tell the truth for her.

Well spotted @rubicscubicle. Nice bit of rewording there from Serenster. Hmm

Gilmorehill · 14/11/2021 13:11

Having Googled, I see the Salute to Freedom was a black tie affair. However, I think M is still over dressed compared to others. It’s a dress worthy of an award ceremony red carpet. It’s almost like she wanted all eyes on her.

Serenster · 14/11/2021 13:11

I agree wearing a ball gown wasn’t inappropriate, given what other guests were wearing. Harry was the person actually invited to present the awards, given he is also a veteran. Meghan was accordingly a plus one. A bright red low-cut dress with a big train is a pretty attention-grabbing thing to wear when the focus is supposed to be on your husband.

Aspiringmatriarch · 14/11/2021 13:12

I think there is a large amount of other work that goes with being royal which isn’t fun or glamorous which possibly wasn’t realised or known about earlier.

Do you think being an actor is constant glamour and fun? Whatever criticisms you may have, there is no indication that Meghan wasn't willing to work.

Aspiringmatriarch · 14/11/2021 13:13

I'm sure Harry didn't mind.

rubicscubicle · 14/11/2021 13:19

Omid is the Royal Editor for Harpers Bazaar.
He is just a Contributor for GMA and ABC.

If Meghan's team gives him a scoop, he will break it on Harpers Bazaar, and will say something along the lines "we have been informed" or "I have been informed", and will publish that scoop on Harpers Bazaar.

In the UK, it is something similar to Camilla Tominey.
She is the royal editor for the torygraph. She is a contributor to itv shows like this morning. She does not break itv news, she goes to comment. If anyone gives her news to break, she takes ownership, but on behalf of the torygraph, not this morning.

Rinoachicken · 14/11/2021 13:21

There’s ball gowns and then there’s ball gowns. I do think it was inappropriate for the event. Don’t care about the colour, that’s fine to me. But it was very low cut, huge train, dominating any space she would have been in and drawing attention firmly towards her. And to add insult to injury it seemed very poorly fitted. Badly thought through all round.

Or many carefully thought through. Depends on the purpose and motivation I guess.

Rinoachicken · 14/11/2021 13:21

*maybe!

Serenster · 14/11/2021 13:22

Harry probably didn’t mind! That’s not exactly the point, though.

And thanks for pulling me up on exactly what Meghan said to Oprah - I am amused that when dealing with the poster who ignores pretty much facts entirely as it suits her I’d get side-eyed, but there you go Grin

What Meghan actually said was “They were willing to lie to protect other members of the family, but they weren’t willing to tell the truth to protect me and my husband”.

You will note that she doesn’t actually say they were willing to lie to protect her and Harry either - so I guess we’ll have to leave that as an open question. The thrust of her complaint, however, was that the Palace protected other members of the family but not her and Harry. I am sure there were individual things that happened in the course of her 19 months in the family that grated. But we can also see clear examples where the Palace did indeed protect them, like this one, where they protected her privacy by denying she was out of the country when she obviously was. She’s told the world of her complaints, we get to assess what we make of them.

I think the hard work that goes with being an actor is different because you chose it, and it furthers your career. And also it doesn’t engulf your entire private life in the same way. A lot of royal life I imagine is stuff you’ve been told to do, you can pick and choose causes but if there’s a hospital wing that needs opening and you’re the one down to do it, you just do it. You can be an incredibly hard working person, but still not want to have to work in this way. Which isn’t a criticism of her, I wouldn’t want to do it either.

Oh, NOW you claim to know what’s going on Grin
CreepySpider · 14/11/2021 13:27

@rubicscubicle

I can only assume they are like other family members now, Bea, Eugenie etc.

It looks like their set up now is even better than the half in and out. They don't have to deal with the rota or palace stumbling blocks.

In what way do you think it is better than half in/half out? After all, if what they are doing now is what they wanted, presumably that’s what they would have opted for in the first place.

Bea and Eugenie haven’t fallen out with their relatives and are welcomed to family events. Harry and Meghan have made it clear in their own words that they aren’t. Their popularity is at an all time low and their reputation continually takes a battering.

TitledLady · 14/11/2021 13:28

On the dress front, I agree that the dress she wore was white tie, not black tie therefore on the inappropriate side.

Aspiringmatriarch · 14/11/2021 13:29

In what way? Assuming you mean me?

CreepySpider · 14/11/2021 13:30

@rubicscubicle

They did not hijack anything since they were invited.

Don't know what you mean about this week in Canid/US.

The British media may try to twist things all they want, for a lot of people it's a transparent manipulation by them. No wonder the US pretty much ignored the whole MoS fiasco.

The US media mainly ignores the actions of people who are not deemed of significant importance or well enough known.

No, what’s the relevance of what I think about an actor’s lifestyle?
rubicscubicle · 14/11/2021 13:35

Oh, NOW you claim to know what’s going on grin

What are you on about, I jut explained to you what the roles mean. Hence why Omid does not break news for ABC and GMA, for the same reason Camilla does not break news for itv.

In your post, you had seemed confused about the roles.

rubicscubicle · 14/11/2021 13:38

@Serenster

I have not ignored any facts. I did explain myself and the view.

You seem to think your view is above everyone else, and in the process, playing the old game of trying to discredit those who do not agree - without you providing factual information.

Isn't black tie formal, where as white tie is party?

The red dress was more white tie IMO.

Aspiringmatriarch · 14/11/2021 13:40

The relevance is that Meghan had a career behind her which would not have been all fun and glamour by any means (although I'm sure some of it was). Speculating that she didn't want to do the unglamorous royal duties doesn't fit with that. Previous roles were probably even less fun and glamorous - e.g. opening suitcases on a chat show. Since so much of these threads is speculation about her motives and feelings, I felt it was relevant to note that she's given no indication of this in her past behaviour, that I'm aware of. Acting and being a working royal probably have some limited similarities in that the image is more glamorous than the reality.

smilesy · 14/11/2021 13:42

No, white tie is more formal.

Rinoachicken · 14/11/2021 13:43

I always think ‘Downton Abby formal’ when I hear white tie - they all wore white bowties!

Serenster · 14/11/2021 13:44

Harpers Bazaar is a monthly magazine. GMA is a daily tv show. Omid works (freelances) for both. He regularly appears on GMA to talk about Meghan and Harry.

As he made clear, he was given this exclusive with his GMA contributor hat on. I can speculate it’s because that means it will get more coverage than via Harpers Bazaar, but I don’t know why he was asked (or chose) to work with GMA in this instance rather than Harpers.

I actually haven’t the foggiest why you are saying he can’t break news with his GMA hat on - he did exactly that in his tweets.
