The royal family

In what capacity are Harry and Meghan visiting New York

They are no longer working members of the Royal Family so have they gone to New York as private citizens?

How do they get to meet with Chelsea Clinton at the WHO offices and UN officials and politicians?

According to the Mail (I know, I know) they had federal protection.

Do Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (as they are styled there) have much clout in the US? Why?

Yes, hardly the crime of the century. You just have to accept that some children are quite more advanced than yours. For some people, they encourage complicated words, and that is normal for Archie's age, maybe you should not bring everyone down to your standards ?

I remember seeing small children at my DC's Montessori . For me it was advanced that they could identify a flower's parts (pistil, stigma, stamen etc.) and do division all at nursery age. So no, I did not eye roll and snigger.

Bloody hell Grin My DC are in their 30's. I'm an ex SALT and know a lot about speech and language development. It's an extremely complex subject.

When parents of three year olds describe their kids sharing out sweets as “doing division” it is hilarious.

rubicscubicle · 03/10/2021 21:55

Then you would surely know not piss take at children who can say advanced words or do advanced things.

Have you ever been to a Montessori nursery ? Do you know what they actually do? No sweets in sight, I can tell you, first of all.

This bit I don’t doubt for a second

I wonder why the woman who is one of the worlds 100 most influential people and such a committed feminist doesn't do anything about the appalling treatment of pregnant women in her home country.

rubicscubicle · 17/10/2021 14:52

What a ridiculous thing to say.
Did you list and call to account all other influential people as well as all other feminists. Or is your criticism reserved for just MM?

Zuluqueen · 17/10/2021 16:52

What is she supposed to do? In that case much loved working royal females who champion women’s rights should help solve reducing black maternal death & appalling health outcomes for BAME pregnant women. But we all know it’s ridiculous to expect them to do anything about it so Meh at Meghan been criticized for this. She suffered a miscarriage herself so I’m sure she is not heartless to the struggles & hurt of other women Jesus!

BeckyWithTheAverageHair · 23/10/2021 08:04

I'm sure you'll be pleased to hear Meghan is now using her position to speak up for pregnant women in her home country @ShamedBySiri

Melba's the restaurant where H&M donated 25K were so happy to share the relief money among struggling employees. Bless them.

Roussette · 29/10/2021 16:36

Oh yes! I saw that.
That was great

Speaking of lovely unexpected gestures.

Coronateachingagain · 31/10/2021 19:12

@rubicscubicle what is so special about this?
No context and thousands and thousands of charities and people giving away for good causes. Not saying it is not good but.... nice marketing for $25 though.

Let me tell you how it works in the US from a tax perspective. You give away 10% and you get the rest tax free. Ha. Cachin' k'-ching I just can hear it Smile but not sure what is special about it (yet!)

rubicscubicle · 01/11/2021 07:03

This is discussed on another thread.

The man from Paid Leave tweeted his thanks to MM for donating these vouchers for coffee for his staff who had been working incredibly hard of late.

Don't know what you mean by thousands of charities and what that has anything to do with anything.

You can also fill in a tax form here in the UK too. So what about it ? Are Americans not allowed to donate now?

Coronateachingagain · 01/11/2021 10:17

Well of course they are! I do fill my tax returns every year here in the UK. I don't have a rebate on all my taxes if I donate 10% to charity though, I am not that rich for that setup here or anywhere else I would choose to live to suit my own interests if I had that money. More interested in being a good mother these days though so not that it affects what I do.

More to the point, the $25 Starbucks voucher is a nice marketing move we can all relate to so good investment for them too. Don't forget the other side of the coin, or else who is going to pay for all those Valentino dresses every time there is a NYC boondoggle!

rubicscubicle · 01/11/2021 10:35

So now you know every little detail about their accounts. OK

Coronateachingagain · 01/11/2021 10:56
Confused
Serenster · 13/11/2021 20:59

@Roussette

It's been dropped. Not sure why that is disputed. I've seen it on more than one place. It's everywhere. Please don't ask me to link it. It's out there
I’m bumping the thread because you did specifically ask to be picked up on this, Roussette (so sorry, since this will surely be unwelcome…) but I’m afraid there’s an article in the Times stating this:

“Buckingham Palace confirmed that its investigation into claims that Meghan bullied royal staff is still going on after eight months. Last night a spokesman said: “The review and the consideration of the issues raised is still being actively worked on.”

catinboots123 · 13/11/2021 21:16

If anyone is interested I have just started a part 2 thread from the appeal thread - in the Royals section

ChristmasPlanning · 13/11/2021 22:07

Also why did M send the letter to her dad by fedex to someone who was then going to send it to him!? Surely it just should have been sent to him directly in Mexico?
