The royal family

In what capacity are Harry and Meghan visiting New York

897 replies

IsabelBeck · 25/09/2021 10:20

They are no longer working members of the Royal Family so have they gone to New York as private citizens?

How do they get to meet with Chelsea Clinton at the WHO offices and UN officials and politicians?

According to the Mail (I know, I know) they had federal protection.

Do Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (as they are styled there) have much clout in the US? Why?

Yes, she is v insecure. It'd be water off a ducks back to kate, headlines about how she held her bump. Kate wouldnt care.

It probably wasnt nice to be endlessly accused of being a social climber who targetted william though. When some posh aristo dumped her sistrr there was an element of glee from some media reporting that her alnost inlaws hadnt thought she was good enough

julieca · 02/10/2021 18:07

Of course it was different for Meghan, it was racism.

ManifestingJoy · 02/10/2021 18:09

@Roussette

Ok Serenster you're saying the press were worse with Kate than Meghan Shock Gosh I have nothing to say

For once you've shut me up

@rousette that will be the day. You never stop defending MM &H no matter what, even people are saying what they've observed. It's unhinged.
Roussette · 02/10/2021 18:10

Do those posters on MN think Kate had it worse on here?
I'm actually speechless

I know how many threads there were at one point in time...it was over 300 and that was more rhan a year ago

I know there were countless threads deleted and moderated very heavily because of the pure hate

Never saw anything about Kate. Maybe a couple?

And this is a site for women. Commenting on women.
A cross section of what was going on out there

Serenster · 02/10/2021 18:10

As I have said, many many times, Roussette, both of what they went through was horrific (and neither should have been subjected to it) but they were very different experiences

Meghan got the “death by a thousand cuts” of clickbait articles and social media trolls. Kate got the very direct “in your face and can’t ignore it” harassment and outrageous invasions of privacy. For one of them to completely undermine what the other experienced comes across pretty badly, I think.

Roussette · 02/10/2021 18:11

@ManifestingJoy

Report my posts why don't you, if they breach TG.
Otherwise, bear in mind this is a discussion forum and I don't police where you post

storkstalk · 02/10/2021 18:16

Completely agree with this.

Viviennemary · 02/10/2021 18:19

The press were horrible about Fergie. But what a one for freebies and holidays she was. Still is probably.

Samcro · 02/10/2021 18:22

@julieca

Agree
ManifestingJoy · 02/10/2021 18:26

Over reaction there rousette. I observe your loyalty to Mm without deciding to report you. You should check in on yourself with this though. It's like you're on their payroll. I feel bad for you.

@viviennemary yes, none of them ever had it worse than Fergie

queenofarles · 02/10/2021 18:26

Never saw anything about Kate How long have you been here Rousette , if you go back to the old threads from 2012 and upwards you will find plenty.

Diverseopinions · 02/10/2021 18:28

My view of the tour of South Africa was that it was complimented and praised. Let's take the national institution of the BBC as an example. Because, I suppose you are going to find small publications which slag people off, if you look hard enough.

The couple joined in with the dances; Archie was praised as adorable. Who are these detractors??? Who said they weren't good? Nobody. Nobody criticized them.

Then that unbelievable statement that nobody had asked how Meghan was doing. The assumption would have been that she was doing better than some of those around her. Was that a dig at Harry for suggesting they should move there, perhaps?
Who is supposed to ask if she ok?? Do journalists usually say to famous people: ' Are you Ok🙁?'

Let's just put it down to childishness. I'm not going to say Meghan and Harry are not nice. They are not cut out for team-playing and responsibility. But no worries, because they attract public interest, and they will be like those teenagers who get passionate about all kinds of issues for a while, go back to Dad for more money, when they miscalculate. They will always have a little bit more in the way of a royal anecdote tucked away for a rainy day.

Roussette · 02/10/2021 18:38

@ManifestingJoy

Are you trying to be nice? If so you're failing

I don't make personal comments to you about your posting history, it's rude and unnecessary.
And please don't feel bad for me, my eyes are open

Roussette · 02/10/2021 18:39

@queenofarles

Longer than you most probably

Viviennemary · 02/10/2021 18:42

They were pretty important folk here in the UK and got a lot of publicity and press coverage. I can't see them matching that in the USA in the long term. Still we shall have to wait and see. I dont think they were very impressed with Frogmore cottage which I can understand. Its a modest affair compared to the places Edward and Anne have.

ManifestingJoy · 02/10/2021 18:49

@rousette im not trying to be nice or not nice but what i observe is an obsessive blind loyalty to MM &H carried out like you're on their payroll. That's what I see.
Im sure you arent that bothered by what i think.

Washeduponthebeach · 02/10/2021 19:08

I agree. Also Kate has never had the luxury of being able to put her side of things with regard to Meghan or anything else. Being photographed topless, being hounded in the street a la Diana, sneering remarks about her mother’s humble beginnings and her Uncle’s activities. Then the statement on national TV that she made Meghan cry. The constant insinuation that William has been unfaithful. She has kept her dignity throughout . How would it be if she wrote a book called ‘ My sufferings’ and spoke on national TV about how hard done by she is?

She hasn’t got the luxury of buggering off to another country has she?

Washeduponthebeach · 02/10/2021 19:09

I don’t have any sympathy for Fergie. The best thing you can say about her is that she seems to have been a good mother.

Roussette · 02/10/2021 19:10

im not trying to be nice or not nice but what i observe is an obsessive blind loyalty

I hate bullying.

Roussette · 02/10/2021 19:12

She made a choice in life. Like we all do.

Washeduponthebeach · 02/10/2021 19:17

Meghan made her choice too. She didn’t even give it a proper chance. Good for her that she’s happy now but she can has the luxury of ‘speaking her truth’. Kate will never have that.

Roussette · 02/10/2021 19:26

Don't agree.
She wasn't supported (cue posts with disagreement big time).

Kate married the heir to the throne. She knew the implications. She has no choice, at the moment, because another messy royal divorce would bring down the monarchy no doubt. What a responsibility, poor woman.

Leibham · 02/10/2021 19:31

Did someone say she was so lovely and complementary about Kate in the interview? I’ve seen it all now Grin

Passive aggressive, yes. Lovely? No.

Washeduponthebeach · 02/10/2021 19:51

I don’t think she wants a divorce for a minute. However I’m sure the strain of living like she does is not worth all the trappings.
Gilmorehill · 02/10/2021 19:53

Didn’t OW ask her about Kate and her going to Wimbledon and her saying ‘things aren’t always what they seem’or something like that? I thought she was implying Kate wasn’t as nice to her as her as it looked. So not so complementary.
