In what capacity are Harry and Meghan visiting New York

They are no longer working members of the Royal Family so have they gone to New York as private citizens?

How do they get to meet with Chelsea Clinton at the WHO offices and UN officials and politicians?

According to the Mail (I know, I know) they had federal protection.

Do Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (as they are styled there) have much clout in the US? Why?

I read Harry is going back to New York in November to present medals. In what capacity I wonder. And is it a necessary journey. All that way. Think of the carbon footprint. Still Elton John can plant a tree and it will be fine.

Really?? I don't understand why he can't fly to anywhere - NY or elsewhere. Do you keep track of anyone else and their carbon footprint or you have an excuse for clocking Harry's ?

I can't get het up over that. Given Harry's work with Invictus and the armed forces it's something about which he actually knows a fair bit!

I think feeling positive about H&M is now very much a minority viewpoint as evidenced by the latest polls earlier this month.

I think it unlikely they are going to increase their popularity anytime soon.
Flying around on private jets isn't a good look for anyone these days, but especially not for those who preach about climate change.

There are plenty of people who live very well but are not popular- the two don't always go hand In hand. I'm sure they have several income streams and they will continue. I'm sure they won't be downsizing anytime soon. My point to some posters on this thread is if you dislike them or anyone else for that matter why would you invest your time headspace and energy on googling - or not googling but making wild and random statements - is it just to add spite to the thread? Or Do you think it's envy?

I really do need to read more - I didn't realise there was poll on a couple who have left Royal service nearly 2 years ago/ and have also left the country having made it clear they consider US a better choice for their family.
I've just seen it on you gov. Is this what the previous poster is referring to when stating that Harry was only slightly ahead of PA and Meghan below? If so then the poll says something completely different. It's like the UK can't let go.

I do not approve of faux royals hob nobbing with VIPs waving to crowds and hugging folk like they have been doing in New York over the last few days. Somebody needs to tell them America doesn't have royals. And now giving out medals. Its like that woman who looked vaguely like the Queen who went round opening church jumble sales.

It’s very sweet of you to worry why other posters post but it’s bizarre how wrong some can be. It is the trying to control their public image and we all know they do (waves: 👋) but their attempts to manufacture via heavy handed PR and social media presence etc is peculiarly like watching the embers of a successful empire. The current attempts to control what people are allowed to say and what opinions are permitted will come to an end and H&M are a very public masterclass in attempts to recreate the success of many celebrities when the public were not quite so aware of the PR machinations.

Harry and Meghan’s attempts to social media influence is a bandwagon that left town and they don’t seem to realise. They are the embers of prescribed thinking and I know you genuinely don’t understand that but it is actually about the current identity politics. It’s interesting to watch people treat the general public like idiots and I know some do innocently fall fo it, that is what is worrying. People are voicing their right to dislike people without being told it makes them racist bad people. It’s bizarre people always come up with envy or jealousy as a motive, must be very limited life experience to always jump to such an idea.

The mayor of NY chose to invite them. Invictus want Harry. The school children were very happy to see them., and you are spitting feathers all the way from the UK - I assume. Honestly there will be plenty more occasions over the years @Viviennemary so I would let it go now. If you can get round the fact that M&H could not attend these occasions if they were not asked or wanted - even if it meant buying their own ticket. So whatever reason they are there somebody with authority wants them there.!

Meghan reading from her own book about the importance of a close bond with your father whilst neither of them have an ongoing close relationship with their own. Not to mention reading in an area of poverty with so many children from one parent families. Harry sat on a mat as she reads from the book. It is beyond parody and self serving for their Netflix show - again will become apparent in time if you don’t believe how lacking in shame they are re the Netflix material.

No one has mentioned that they flew home on a private jet. Naturally.

But she already said the book was about Harry and Archie. Not her and her father or Harry and his. Reading a book about father and son to poor BAME children - maybe some of them do have fathers / uncles / grandparents. - also maybe there were girls in the class too - there are many makeup's of families. I'm sure there are thousands of teachers who are estranged from their mothers/fathers - does that mean they shouldn't read these books to the class? A class where some children don't have fathers at home (not all) so we shouldn't read books that mention fathers having a nice relationship with their child. So they were taping for something. They didn't wire themselves up it has been arranged but without even knowing what it is for - you have a problem with it. And finally she isn't supposed to hug the children as it makes you angry

Are there any pictures of H&M actually taking a private jet, or did the media pull it out their arses.
Or is it like the time they said she flew private jet to see Serena Williams, and then a few weeks later came up with pics of her boarding a commercial flight that was running late.

And the SUV, is it like the time they said she got a 'gas guzzling' SUV only to have Cadillac angry because that was their latest environmental range.

Sorry to break it to you @Viviennemary but the UK's royal family does not have a monopoly on visits and handing out medals.
