The discussion is still rumbling on...
Over on the Daily Mail site there's yet another article about whether H&M will name names.
This I found was interestingly written as it only seems to mention one other family member...

I agree Why2Why. It's considered hypocrisy or lecturing when they don't like the messenger. It just seems like a cheap shot that doesn't really mean anything. If you care about something, then surely it's good if someone prominent is talking about it? I guess the private jet thing could be seen as hypocritical but honestly there are some pretty scary security issues that come with being very high profile. If it was me, I'd do what I had to do to feel that my family were safe. It doesn't mean they can't do lots of good in other ways.

dontyouwish2 · 06/09/2021 19:21

Even the private jet hypocrite excuse is paper thin if you take a hard look. For a start, Harry never said, do not take a private jet, he is talking about carbon off setting if you absolutely have to private jet, as per his project of Travelyst. Meaning he practices what he he preaches. At the time of travel, they were in the midst of a court case with the Neo nazi as well as an anthrax like substance being sent to them. This is exactly what was going on during that summer.

dontyouwish2 · 06/09/2021 19:23

I agree with most of what you’ve said but this idea of “celebs lecturing “ is something that needs to be challenged. The question is: is the message the share a problem or do you just have a problem with the messenger?

If you’re genuinely interested in solving a problem you will focus on the message and amplify that message.

Unless the messenger is a degenerate/generally immoral then what is this stuff about celebs lecturing? Surely it is a distraction an

Yes, a problem with the messenger. Apparently it's fine for Angelia Jolie to talk about women in Afghanistan, just not H&M.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/09/2021 19:29

Harry never said, do not take a private jet, he is talking about carbon off setting ...

But didn't Elton John say he'd paid for Harry's carbon offset?

Sounds to me like yet another example of the RF using pockets other than their own ...

Their statements were worlds apart in terms of impact.

EJ said was the one who lended them the plane and he was explaining that it was carbon offset. Which is what the British media tried to shut down.

Does not matter if EJ or anyone lends his jet. It's not coming from the taxpayer ultimately. It's coming from a fully willing participant.

Yes, a problem with the messenger. Apparently it's fine for Angelia Jolie to talk about women in Afghanistan, just not H&M. I'm just watching a report from Ch4's Lindsey Hilsum www.channel4.com/news/by/lindsey-hilsum
She's sitting in a room in Kabul talking to the Taliban spokesman. Let me see... Who will I listen to? Meghan, Angelina or Lindsey?

You are allowed to listen to all. It’s not a competition and you don’t have to choose. They are all advocating for the women in Afghanistan. It’s petty to turn it into a competition between the women trying to raise awareness and do good. All three women are doing the right thing. Just amplify the message, support the cause and stop this juvenile nonsense about a competition where one has to choose between the three.

Totally up to you who you listen to, but don't criticise people for speaking about things. Harry has also served in Afghanistan, Angelina is legitimately very knowledgeable about issues facing women around the world, and of course Lindsey Hilsum is a hugely respected journalist. None of them is sucking oxygen from the others by commenting on Afghanistan. Hopefully high profile figures can help keep it in the forefront of people's minds what is happening there. Not everyone is going to be a Channel 4 news buff or Radio 4 listener, are they?

That’s a lie and I’m sure you know it. Meghan has been advocating for the advancement of women in the developing world long before she met Harry.

Stop your lies, you silly person.

Well, Meghan isn't setting herself up as any kind of Afghanistan expert is she? Although she has visited the country, which I'm guessing is more than you've done. Anyway, I think your posts on this are so blatantly unfair that there's no point responding any further. It's obvious to anyone with eyes you're being nasty for the sake of it. Doesn't exactly make you look credible.

Just silly. Makes her look very, very silly.

Sorry if this has been mentioned already but when Piers had his tantrum and stormed off because he couldn't bear to watch / listen to Harry - did he leave his wife at the table or did she jump up and follow him?

Lol Meghan is not Angelina Jolie.. she has never pretended to be. If one likes Angelina fine.. but why does Meghan have this impossible bar that no other white Royal woman has to meet?. Meghan is on maternity leave, doing her own thing the British Royal family and all those who are loved and admired by royalists are here.. they matter more are are regal no?

I wonder about Piers Morgan’s wife. I don’t think I’d take kindly to my husband being so obsessed with another woman like this and with a driving force behind this resentment being that she ghosted him.

Piers is very disrespectful to his wife with this full blown obsession. What’s even sadder is that she feels she needs to take aim at Meghan. It’s her husband she needs to train her anger on. He is humiliating her.

PreparationPreparationPrep · 06/09/2021 20:35

PP are getting annoyed because Meghan has made a statement in support of Afghan women. Really?? So apparently there is a specific criteria to meet before you can show public support to a horrific situation where women are being raped/ murdered/ tortured. I guess in your eyes Meghan does not meet it. I assume having a massive platform that reaches a very diverse and different group of people that follow MH but not necessarily AJ or L is not a positive. Meghan has a lot of knowledge In women's rights - she is also putting herself and family at risk because she has such a big profile. just because she has not been to Afghan does not lessen the impact she can make. So nice for you to say she should keep quiet - sitting in your home with all your rights and independence as a woman in a relatively liberal country. Let's leave the Afghan women and girls who are being raped/ tortured and murdered to decide whose voice they do not need. If I counted the number of people who are against it on the thread - I'm sure not one of you could reach a tenth of the platform she holds but yet you can complain that she is not qualified to speak out.

Zuluqueen · 06/09/2021 20:40

@Why2why Piers Morgan’s wife hates Meghan, and just recently has called her an impudent girl whilst she was promoting & flooring her novel. Well Meghan is 40 and is been called ‘girl’ . We know why one would call a grown person of color woman and man girl or boy. It’s so transparent just like her husband’s attacks on Simone Biles, Osaka & Meghan.

Why2why · 06/09/2021 20:44

And what has Piers Morgan’s wife achieved apart from exposing her jealous rage?

Serenster · 06/09/2021 20:47

He helped out with the air ambulance and has fathered future royals. These are his achievements

Well, if you approach it from your narrow-minded perspective, perhaps. William actually has a pretty good CV:

Three A levels - an A in Geography, a B in Art and a C in Biology
University degree - 2:1 in Geography from St Andrews
10-week course in agricultural management at Cambridge
The Regular Commissioning Course - 44 weeks at Sandhurst
Training course at Britannia Royal Naval College
Qualified RAF Pilot
Active service 2005-2013
Civil Pilots Licence
2013-2017 Pilot with East Anglian Air Ambulance
Patron of a number of charities

Harry can claim some similar achievements on his CV, but quite a lot fewer than his brother.

I feel quite proud of her, she was campaigning for the rights of women when she was in school! It's her passion.

What a gem of a Duchess we had and what a loss to the the UK.

Oh what a fantastic accomplishment for a 40 year old man. GCSEs and A Levels put to great use helping with the air ambulance for a handful of years. Really great accomplishment compared to a 36 year old man having over the years set up a charity that help lots of young people in Africa, a world class athletic event for injured service men, serving in the army in Afghanistan.

Some of the most accomplished people who’ve had a tremendous impact in the world, with lasting legacies did not have GCSEs or A Levels.

Passing exams is not the measurement of achievement for a grown up man who has a lot of means and privilege to impact the lives of others.
