The discussion is still rumbling on...
Over on the Daily Mail site there's yet another article about whether H&M will name names.
This I found was interestingly written as it only seems to mention one other family member...

OP posts:

It was really bad form make such an accusation public and then refuse to name names. So now everyone is under suspcion. Except the Queen of course. Thry managed to rule her out. What a surprise. Troublemaking much.

Bollindger · 28/08/2021 16:26

I read that the book revision said they had thought about naming the person on The Interview with Oprah, but decided not to.

Meghan: But I can give you an honest answer. In those months when I was pregnant, all around this same time . . .  so we have in tandem the conversation of ‘He won’t be given security, he’s not going to be given a title’ and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.
Harry: That conversation I’m never going to share, but at the time . . . at the time, it was awkward. I was a bit shocked.

Oprah: Can you . . . can you tell us what the question was?

Harry: No. I don’t . . . I’m not comfortable with sharing that.

Oprah: OK.

Harry: But that was . . . that was right at the beginning, right?

Oprah: Like, what will the baby look like?

Harry: Yeah, what will the kids look like?

Oprah: What will the kids look like?

Even Harry is saying this was at the beginning of his relationship. BEFORE Meghan was even married to him, not when she was pregnant as she was trying to say.

If they lie about little things , like that interview, who is to say the person who asked is even part of the imitate family and not just one of the many other members of his family. In not naming he can paint William or Charles and hope the mud sticks.

Plumtree391 · 28/08/2021 16:32

I doubt very much he'll say who it is but - don't we all know who said it, really? There's only one who would be so stupid, frankly.

moose62 · 28/08/2021 16:33

I am so tired of the pair of them. I feel that have to keep reinventing the 'abuse' they suffered to keep themselves relevant. I feel that Harry has always wanted to be in William's position and now that he has removed himself from the family and no one really cares, wants to bring them down do William doesn't have what he wants. I have a friend who is in a mixed race marriage and there was loads of speculation from them and their friends as to what their children would look like. It is human nature and not said or taken in any racist way.

The stupidest one already has a reputation in tatters so I doubt this would make much difference. Unless we’re thinking of different people.
AllTheSingleLadiess · 28/08/2021 16:39

I wouldn't be surprised if family didn't speculate about whether or not the baby would have ginger hair too

I understand why they would fear that people wouldn't believe that X said something racist if they are more senior in the family and that Americans would be more likely to believe them because they don't have the same preconceptions of the RF. I also wouldn't be surprised if they did hear racist things and it wasn't just one member. However I think that casting a question mark over them all is questionable behaviour as they are implicating innocent people too.

leli · 28/08/2021 16:47

It’s not racist to discuss forthcoming baby’s skin colour.

AllTheSingleLadiess · 28/08/2021 16:59

They specifically said "concerned" not "discussed" though. It would have helped to have heard how concerns were voiced.

Tealwarrior · 28/08/2021 17:38

They are masters in the art of twisting the truth and they couldn’t have given the context because they knew people would have seen right through them.
Plumtree391 · 28/08/2021 17:50

@leli

It’s not racist to discuss forthcoming baby’s skin colour.
It depends on the context. For example, I wonder if the baby will have Harry's red hair or Meghan's dark hair, is a quite normal remark. However as it been brought up by Harry and Meghan, it obviously wasn't as innocuous as that. It was probably more like, "Goodness knows what colour it will come out with", or worse.

Staff1, the stupidest one has repaired her relationship, quite remarkably so and though we often see her, we hardly ever hear a word from her.

SamiReed1 · 28/08/2021 18:16

It really irritates me when people so ignorantly say it 'was just curiosity about skin colour', 'it wasn't racist'. Do any of you not realise that a person of colour KNOWS DARN WELL when it is a racist remark, or something innocuous? Seriously? Do you honestly think we don't know the difference? When a person of colour tells you someone made a racist comment.....BELIEVE THEM! Don't attempt to invalidate our experiences.

Oldbutstillgotit · 28/08/2021 18:18

@ SamiReed1
We don’t know what was said or when . H and m can’t agree what was said and when !
Why don’t they make the person and state what was said ?

PicsInRed · 28/08/2021 18:23

Conversations were had with Harry early on, which he later told Meghan about during her pregnancy.

This isn't high maths is it.

SamiReed1 · 28/08/2021 18:24

It was clearly a serious comment. That's obvious. And they do agree what was said!
Onetraumaatatimeplease · 28/08/2021 19:50

@SamiReed1 I think the comment was made to Harry and he repeated it. It was third hand, the tone of the comment to her was relayed by Harry, who quite probably did twist it into something it wasn't.

I would normally absolutely agree. BUT Meghan has proven countless times that she's not above exaggeration and even outright lies when it comes to getting what she wants. So I can see why people would find it hard to believe that they're not just attention-seeking. They've managed to twist the truth more than once, so who knows whether the conversations in question were really of a racist nature?
Plumtree391 · 28/08/2021 20:32

Staff1, I meant 'reputation', not 'relationship'.

leli · 28/08/2021 20:39

To clarify, my d-I-l is a woman of colour and she chats with me and her parents and siblings about what sorts of genetic influences will produce what eye/hair:skin colour. We also read widely about racism and white privilege. Intent is important. Not convinced that the racist slurs are honest and I speak as a lifelong republican.

ajandjjmum · 28/08/2021 20:57

Who is the stupidest one?

Tealwarrior · 28/08/2021 20:59

@ajandjjmum

Who is the stupidest one?
I think people are referring to Kate and the nonsense regarding a supposed affair William had.
RoseRedRoseBlue · 28/08/2021 21:05

H&M are the King and Queen of the dripfeed. The way this is being dragged out for maximum dramatic impact is so tacky and unnecessary.

ajandjjmum · 28/08/2021 21:07

Bloody hell - Kate is as far from stupid as you can get. Thanks @Tealwarrior - some people are very odd on here. I was trying to make it Andrew, but stupid isn't the word I would have chosen!

I will always believe a person of color to know when something is racist or not. We know from a very young age.. and contrary to the right wing press and some people we do not play the race card.. it doesn’t make us benefit anything. Instead it ramps up the abuse as some people really enjoy defending racism & racist deeds. I believe her.. I believe them. There is a difference between I a mixed race person wondering how my kids will look like & my racist in-laws having concern about how my baby would look like.
