Blurb from publisher.

In an intimate and heartfelt memoir from one of the most fascinating and influential global figures of our time, Prince Harry will share, for the very first time, the definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shape him.

Covering his lifetime in the public eye from childhood to the present day, including his dedication to service, the military duty that twice took him to the frontlines of Afghanistan, and the joy he has found in being a husband and father, Prince Harry will offer an honest and captivating personal portrait, on that shows readers that behind everything they think they know lies an inspiring, courageous and uplifting human story.'

Oops, wrong thread!

*Things Prince Harry has done wrong:
-Prince Harry wore a nazi costume to a party.
-Prince Harry was recorded using a racial slur against a colleague. He was also recorded using the racist expression, "fuck me, you look like a raghead".
-Black comedian Stephen K Amos stated that Prince Harry said, "hello you don't sound like a black chap" upon meeting him, leaving him wondering how he was supposed to sound.

And those are just the things that have been confirmed!*

Didn't he also tell friends that he was dating a girl from Zimbabwe but 'she's not black or anything!'

Supposedly.

Well after the book there's going to be less and less for Harry to say.
Before long he will be reduced to commenting in the media as some kind of royal spokesman.
The Royal Family depend heavily on loyalty to keep up their mystique and the mantra is "never complain, never explain"
This situation is out of control now, there would seem to be no shutting them up. It's obvious that he's been carrying a lot of resentment around for many years and he's found an outlet.
Charles has spent his whole life waiting to be King and it now looks like Harry's actions will have far reaching consequences.

I'm not a Royalist but I feel sorry for everyone involved.

@GlencoraP

Harry has done a lot wrong he’s just never had to take responsibility for it. Someone has always covered for him, taken the flak, been paid to keep quiet etc
Exactly. I fear we are seeing the real man now and it isn’t pretty.
ShamedBySiri · 21/07/2021 16:31

I am a bit curious if the 'alleged affair' his brother had might come up ? It's often mentioned on mumsnet as ' fact' that William did play away ( mostly because the press abroad are not as restricted as our press are in the UK)

Personally I don't believe these mischievous rumours for one minute. C and W seem to be genuinely very happy together and I truly think that after everything W went through with his parents he is fully committed to not making the same mistakes and inflicting the same pain on his children.

I wish people wouldn't keep repeating them as if there is some sort of legitimacy to them.

If there was anything, a drunken snog perhaps, and H spilled it in his memoirs I think W would never ever speak into him again, and there would probably be some other revenge at some point in the future when W is King and has power.

ktel1 · 21/07/2021 16:34

I'd like to know who's responsible for that truly embarrassing woefully written blurb

Was that someone from Random House?

Chocaholic9 · 21/07/2021 16:35

@Onesailwait

Who on earth is going to buy this self indulgent bullshit?. I guess he is just trying to make money before he becomes ' you know the ginger one who used to be in the royal family, married to whats her face'.
I'm interested in reading it.

Apparently he's donating all the money to charity.

AncientandFabulous · 21/07/2021 16:37

I don’t think it’s Charles who made the alleged racism remark - he seemed enchanted with Meghan at their wedding & seemed genuinely delighted to be walking her down the aisle.

Also if William has had an affair I’d say it’s for him & his wife to deal with. Plenty of spouses have moved on & forgotten. A friend’s Dh had an affair 10 years or so into their marriage. We supported her decision to stay with him. That was her decision to make not ours. Anyway that’s my opinion! There’s no proof that he did or didn’t just a load of hearsay & gossip.

IcedPurple · 21/07/2021 16:41

Apparently he's donating all the money to charity.

He's supposedly donating an unspecified amount of 'proceeds' to an unnamed 'charity'. That could mean 2% of the 'proceeds' - however they be defined - go to Archewell.

That's very different from saying that "he's donating all the money to charity."

ajandjjmum · 21/07/2021 16:43

@Chocaholic9
Apparently he's donating all the money to charity.

It will probably be the Archewell Foundation, which legally only needs to donate 5% of its income to charity, according to US Foundation law. Hopefully they'll give more, but who knows.

smilesy · 21/07/2021 16:43

I read somewhere ( sorry can’t link to it) that the word is that the book is already drafted and is going to be a reexamination of the conspiracy theories surrounding Diana’s death, and that a documentary is in the pipeline which is why publication is not until next year. The blurb released so far is apparently just flannel. This would support what Angela Levin tweeted. I have no proof of this obviously before I am jumped upon but I suppose that would make for a more meaty tome than just “Harry growing as a man and father” 🤷‍♀️

exactly.

Unless he says he's donating the $20 million advance to a specific charity or charities that isn't their Archewell NPO then it's pretty meaningless.

CallmeHendricks · 21/07/2021 16:46

See, that's how all these mis-truths gain traction. Someone recalls seeing the word "charity" in an article and makes an assumption and spouts it all over the internet.

Growtheroses · 21/07/2021 16:46

That's true - although slightly tongue in cheek I would say that if he had tried to address it, we'd have all heard about it!

ajandjjmum Grin yes probably!

Joking aside I thought he did say words to that effect in the interview, can't remember, as I fell asleep half way through!

yes funny how that works isn't it
Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/07/2021 16:51

This isn’t just some tabloid gossip or speculation - the publisher has put out a statement

Oh blast - that's another hope gone then Hmm

Well after the book there's going to be less and less for Harry to say

That's what many thought after the Oprah thing, yet somehow he seems to keep finding something else to say
I'd also expect loads about the "much better life he's found", except that won't be enough for the publishers for whom the big money's in revelations ... again, just like Oprah

Chocaholic9 · 21/07/2021 16:55

It's interesting to see how much he is hated on these boards. Why all the vitriol? It sounds as if each person on here was personally harmed by Harry and hates him.

Chocaholic9 · 21/07/2021 16:58

Just can't imagine wasting energy on hating someone I don't know, who hasn't had an impact on my life or done something really awful.

I can understand hating Donald Trump, for example.

Baberuthie · 21/07/2021 17:05

Chocaholic9 we are confused by H and M... do they want to be in the press? They do but only on their terms or they will take legal action. Do they want to be in the RF? Yes but only on their terms or they will leave. I agree with another poster that they are deluded and imagine that they are far more interesting than they really are. It would be great if they could actually concentrate on having a proper purpose, eg actual good works that they dont feel they need to publicise. I'm not sure if the ship of public opinion is too far gone to turn around but if i was advising them that would be my advice. A do good works B look happy with their lives and good fortune c make amends with their families on both sides d stay out of the media for a good, I dont know, 12 months at least e give the 20.million back and forget the idea of the book f learn to appreciate what they have and did I say good fortune?

I'm surprised it took 17 pages for the word 'vitriol' to be rolled out, but here we are.

I don't see any 'vitriol' or any 'hate'. I see - for the most part - intelligent criticism of the behaviour of a person who enthusiastically puts himself in the public eye. He's not owed universal praise just for being born a prince, is he?

Once they build their profiles and have brand recognition they have an audience for merching.

You see this all the time with reality tv stars and online influencers

Most of these people really don't have much at all to offer but people for some reason admire and aspire to be like them.

There are then various directions they can go in products related to lifestyle, child care , causes of the moment, etc etc

The possibilities are endless really .

Whether or not they have enough followers and/or credibility to make it viable or how long it will last is the question.

The causes they talk about and all their suffering is part of building this image .

It's all phoney and all about money.

Who said anything about hating him? You don't have to hate someone to think their behavior is questionable and that they should probably focus on healing themselves privately instead of airing their grievances so publicly.
ItPearl · 21/07/2021 17:08

I dont hate them. They keep making bad decisions and i wish theyd do themselves a favour.
