Blurb from publisher.

In an intimate and heartfelt memoir from one of the most fascinating and influential global figures of our time, Prince Harry will share, for the very first time, the definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shape him.

Covering his lifetime in the public eye from childhood to the present day, including his dedication to service, the military duty that twice took him to the frontlines of Afghanistan, and the joy he has found in being a husband and father, Prince Harry will offer an honest and captivating personal portrait, on that shows readers that behind everything they think they know lies an inspiring, courageous and uplifting human story.'

Hated is a strong word @Chocaholic9. I really dislike the way that he has behaved over recent years - and yes, that does coincide with the time he met Meghan. But he's the one showing an unpleasant and disloyal side of his character that I wouldn't have believed in earlier years.

So many of the early threads commented along the lines of 'they'll be looking at doing Oprah' and 'bound to write a book', and were firmly slapped down by M & H 'lovers', and yet much that was forecast has come true.

I waste no more time 'hating' than others do 'loving' - and then most of us get on with our lives! Grin

Viviennemary · 21/07/2021 17:15

I hate what they stand for. Amongst the most priveledged people on the planet and always whining about something. And making money out of a so called foundation set up to supposedly help others. Not as much as it helps them I don't suppose. The whole think stinks.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/07/2021 17:16

You're not wrong, ktel1, though I'm afarid the appeal of all these trashy zlebs and their "lifestyle blogging" goes right over my head

aj was also correct that those who said they'd run to Oprah, etc, got absolutely flamed for it. Funny how things turn out, isn't it?

Roussette · 21/07/2021 17:19

I don't see any 'vitriol' or any 'hate'

I presume that's a tongue in cheek comment? He has been called so many insulting, rude and unpleasant names on here and there's plenty of deleted posts, lots of which are yours? So how you can say there is no vitriol, god alone knows. There would be no deleted posts if there weren't.

It's good to discuss it if that's what people want, but why posters have to resort to calling him a dimwit, a whiny brat, an on and on... it just takes away from what that poster has to say because... bottom line... it's just endless insults.

@Chocaholic9
It sounds as if each person on here was personally harmed by Harry and hates him

Yes yes yes to this.

A pp saying they are deluded and imagine they are more interesting than they are..... I would say that applies to a large proportion of celebs, journos, politicians and anyone else you care to mention.

Roussette · 21/07/2021 17:20

I've never said that... some who are not so anti M&H might have done, but not me doing the 'slapping down'.

Mummy194 · 21/07/2021 17:28

@Chocaholic9

It's interesting to see how much he is hated on these boards. Why all the vitriol? It sounds as if each person on here was personally harmed by Harry and hates him.
You have politicians leaving thousands to die due to bad decisions, you have killers, you have all sorts, and guess who gets the most vitriol? The couple who are no longer taking funds from the 'taxpayer' and go around working with charities.
Chocaholic9 · 21/07/2021 17:28

If you don't think there's any vitriol on this thread, I dread to think what counts as vitriol for the person who wrote that. I couldn't quote the post.

Only he is living his life and privy to what has gone on.

Maybe I see it from a different perspective because I cut contact with a family member.

We have no idea what has happened in the Royal family, yet people are talking as if they do know and Harry is in the wrong.

I think that people have the right to tell their story.

Chocaholic9 · 21/07/2021 17:29

I also see it from another perspective because I know rich people and I also know that money doesn't solve some things.

Chocaholic9 · 21/07/2021 17:30

I don't think it's fair to act like he should have no problems and if he does, he shouldn't talk about them, just because he had money. It doesn't work like that.

Roussette · 21/07/2021 17:33

I agree with you on some. I wince when I read some of the posts. We KNOW you don't like him/her, what is the point of endless sarky pathetic and nasty insults, I honestly just don't get that part of it.
Discuss it, put valid points up, a proper interesting to and fro between those with different viewpoints.... but it's spoiled by endless nastiness and hurling all sorts of names at him and her.

There's some really valid posters with interesting points on these threads, but they just get drowned out.

ItPearl · 21/07/2021 17:36

It doesnt, but a little self awareness goes a long way. Im a single parent with a very modest but secure job and in my own tiny shabby house. i wouldnt talk about how shit my pay is to a single parent on benefits. Or how small my own house is to somebody trapped renting forever.

You make a good point.

But I think most of us haven't had the misery that comes with living such a visible life (I personally would absolutely hate it, and wouldn't accept it for any amount of money.)

That is all well.

However, they are not the only ones who have told us about misery, but they are the ones with thread after thread, full of repeat of the same things.

For instance, when KM told women exactly like you, others actually more poor that her life was hard as a parent, no one bet an eyelid. She was a guest on a podcast.

CallmeHendricks · 21/07/2021 17:55

Did Kate actually say "my life" is hard as a parent? Or was she empathising with other parents, acknowledging that life with small children can be challenging?
Just checking to see if we have another "book proceeds all going to charity" situation here.

SueSaid · 21/07/2021 18:01

'However, they are not the only ones who have told us about misery, but they are the ones with thread after thread, full of repeat of the same things.'

Because it is current! I'd say the same if Fergie was currently doing lots of poor they're all so mean interviews, chat shows and now a grubby tell all book.

Kate's podcast was about parenting wasn't it? She didn't just blurt it out whilst cutting ribbon at a royal function where she was representing the Queen.

Again, the glaringly massive difference is H has rightly complained at length about invasion of privacy yet he does not care less about invading others and misrepresenting facts! 'I was cut off financially' being one of them when we know PC gave him a massive lump sum to tide them over.

Oldbutstillgotit · 21/07/2021 18:01

Catherine said she was finding homeschooling challenging . A bit different from saying her life is hard !

Who made you thread police?

Your hero has made a commodity of his private life and actively invited scrutiny of his character and behaviour. Since he has no real achievements to speak of, then obviously that's what the focus is. For reasons I genuinely do not understand, you seem to feel he is above criticism and take offence at anyone who does so, although he would never lift a finger for you. You've been posting on these threads long enough and frequently enough to know that not everyone shares your love for these two, and that is allowed.

By all means scroll past my posts if they bother you that much.

IcedPurple · 21/07/2021 18:08

I think that people have the right to tell their story.

Does that include Thomas and Samantha Markle?

GreenCrayon · 21/07/2021 18:11

but they are the ones with thread after thread, full of repeat of the same things.

But they want people talking about them. They are actively perusing interviews and media deals to court publicity. If they didn't have people talking about them they wouldn't be getting the deals that are paying for their new lives they can't have one without the other. If people stopped talking about them the deals would dry up and they wouldn't have any income.

IcedPurple · 21/07/2021 18:12

As I remember, it was a Zoom chat about home schooling, and everyone was asked to write one word describing the experience. Kate wrote 'Exhausting!' Lots of MNers were cross because she has a house full of staff and no real job. Which is true, but what was she meant to write that wouldn't be 'offensive'? It's not like she went out of her way to talk about how hard her life was. She was simply answering a question.

What do you know about these two really, because from what I've seen, they are telling MM' story, not their own.

They've spoken of their experience and interactions with her. Just as Harry has spoken of his interactions with his family. But that was apparantly OK according to some of his fans, for 'mental health' reasons.

They were talked about long before they talked themselves.

I posted a link here where someone had counted that they had around 50 posts per day, before that it was the same even when they went away. The media complained and said they will not cover them when they went away to Canada and lasted all of 3 days. Then they regulated the same old, same old. The same here on MN and everywhere else.
