So cute, love the photos of him at Wembley.
Especially the one of him hugging his Mum in excitement. Despite their wealth/ privilege they do seem to be a ‘normal’ family.
Wasn’t too fussed on Kate’s red earrings, though.

Can we have an “I AM A MISERY” section of MN and every bitter and joyless fr over there?

It would certainly be busy. 😬 Every bloody thread lately turns into a fight.

Blossomtoes · 12/07/2021 12:18

@onlyhereforthecake

Not everybody has to fawn over the royal family 🤷

or is naive enough to pretend they are "normal", flipping patronising to play the "we are just like you " card.

It’s not remotely patronising. They’re human beings.

And, yes, MN is a complete joy sponge.

onlyhereforthecake · 12/07/2021 12:21

Some people REALLY don't take well if anyone dares to disagree, do they Grin

no one has called anyone else a sheep yet! Chill out.

Who's 'fawning' over them?

They were sat in the VIP seats, having been chauffeur driven there from the actual palace they live in.

Of course they're not 'normal'. They're not just like us. They are astonishingly privileged, and those privileges are subsidised by the taxpayer. You really think people here didn't realise that until you came along?

However, that doesn't mean they can't feel 'normal' emotions. It's clear to anyone who has seen the pics and videos linked above that they went through the same spectrum of emotions as every other England supporter. Does the fact that they live in a palace and get called Your Royal Highness mean they are robots or something?

Nobody has been asked to fawn over them.

I love how you think you know best about this, and are in a position to call others naive.

You don't know what was going on for them any better than the rest of us. Or do you? If you know something the rest of us don't, tell us, and then we might be able to understand why you think you're such an expert on this family you don't even like, or on the accurate perception of the expression of human emotion.

Snorkelface · 12/07/2021 12:25

But if he'd worn colours or dressed down there'd be a barrage of criticism saying they'd broken the Club Wembley Code of Conduct, one rule for them, another for everyone else etc. So they can't really win (but then nor can we it turns out). The Royal Box at the Albert Hall has a no dancing rule, random fact.

you are the one who seem to have intimate knowledge about this family ,and get miffed when someone dare calling you out on it.

Such an extreme reaction makes me think you've seen a few pictures but feel you are part of the family 😂

For someone who holds the monarchy in such contempt, you seem awfully invested in it.
JinglingHellsBells · 12/07/2021 12:33

Last time there was a thread on George, at a match, a week or two back, it was taken down for discussing a child.

Why is this one still here?

PuffItsGone · 12/07/2021 12:33

I don’t understand why he needs to wear a football kit and prove how ‘normal’ they are. They aren’t normal. They’re the royal family. They SHOULD dress appropriately and in that instance a shirt and tie was appropriate.

MN needs people to let them know if a thread is dodgy. Report if if you consider it inappropriate.

Oh God I would love this. It might make the rest of the site pretty empty though.....

CallmeHendricks · 12/07/2021 12:45

Yeah, what they should have done was give George a buzz cut with zigzag lines cut into it along with his England shirt and Kate should have had the England flag painted onto her face.
Would that have pleased some of you?

Ziga · 12/07/2021 12:46

Not everyone that is critical of the Royal Family is a “fun sponge.”

They’re the furthest thing from a a normal family, Jesus Christ.

chris8888 · 12/07/2021 12:46

I agree it was nice to see him there and would have been nicer to see him dressed less formal.

MrsJohnStones · 12/07/2021 12:47

Cos moderating on this site isn’t consistent.

Posted too soon

I thought George looked very happy to be there...who cares what he wore.

I like the Cambridges as a family. I think a lot of work has gone in to them being our future monarchs. Its a shame they can't just skip past Charles and Camilla.

Prince George looked happy, which any boy his age would at that match.

As I thought, you don't know any better than the rest of us. I don't know how they felt, as I said. None of us do. I'm going on my perception of how they expressed themselves, which is all I've claimed to do.

Where was I extreme?

onlyhereforthecake · 12/07/2021 12:50

Why on earth would MN delete a thread about the royal family at a football match?

They were neither relevant or needed, Kate wasn't the official goalie.
If they decide to make a statement by making it a "family day" as a PR exercise, people can have an opinion.

People are discussing the choice the parents made, no one has said anything against their boy.

Maggiesfarm · 12/07/2021 12:51

The Tindalls were there too (not the children).

Pepsi9090 · 12/07/2021 12:51

George looked really cute, and it was nice to see him enjoying himself so much.

That aside, I feel annoyed at how much they've been at Wimbledon and the football. I don't feel ok subsidising that when many are struggling right now.

starrynight21 · 12/07/2021 12:51

The Royals do love their suits. Here is a former George living it up on a fairground ride.

Can you point out where anyone said they were a 'normal family'?

Of course they're not a normal family! Two of them are going to be king and they live in a palace. Doesn't mean they can't have normal emotions and reactions though, and it seems that they did.

And be critical of them all you like. They're public figures, subsidised by taxpayers, and that's part of the deal. But complaining about the attire of a clearly happy and much loved little boy just seems a bit churlish.

Kate is patron of Wimbledon and William is President of the FA.

Attending matches is part of their 'job' (nice work if you can get it). If they hadn't been there, people would have complained too.
