Prince George at Wembley

So cute, love the photos of him at Wembley.
Especially the one of him hugging his Mum in excitement. Despite their wealth/ privilege they do seem to be a ‘normal’ family.
Wasn’t too fussed on Kate’s red earrings, though.

He did look so excited, was very sweet. Yes they are very privileged but they still have to deal with many ordinary things too like bringing up children to be respectful, well behaved etc. which it appears he is.

Pepsi9090 · 12/07/2021 12:57

I actually didn't know this, thank you for correcting me.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 12/07/2021 12:58

I’m not sure why people are commenting on lack of affection between them. They’re at work, representing the RF, why would they be constantly huddling together. Even PG is “working” or at least he’s accompanying his Dad, who’s the president of FA, to work.

sashagabadon · 12/07/2021 12:59

just watched the video of him - it is very very cute, even William looked delighted and I have always suspected him of not being a "real" football fan - looks like he is!
I get why they didn't bring the other 2 kids - if it had been me, I wouldn't have brought any kids at all -
but it would have been fun to see if their reactions too. They both seem livelier than George in public

nocturnalcatfreetogoodhome · 12/07/2021 13:13

I imagine his school uniform isn't very different from what he was wearing in the royal box.

There are kids across the country who would have given anything to be able to have been to a single match - George went to both the semi's and the final. He's a lucky kid, I'm sure a suit wouldn't have bothered him.

I think people forget they aren't 'normal' kids, they're born into privilege but that privilege comes at a cost with responsibility. He can go and watch every game England ever play but he has to adhere to the dress code when he does it. Not too much of a sacrifice is it?

Vikingintraining · 12/07/2021 13:15

Apparently he asked to be wearing a suit because he wanted to dress up like his dad.
But god, they are absolutely nothing close to a normal family life.

queenofarles · 12/07/2021 13:34

He looks very grown up for his age even in a suit.
Maybe it’s best he didn’t dress up in a jersey , Boris looked like someone who works in a morgue , dressed up like that.

Travelledtheworld · 12/07/2021 13:41

@queenofarles 🤣🤣🤣

No, not really. I know this because my DD used to work v close to the school he goes to.
Shorts, long trousers, v neck sweater, shirt, type thing. Pretty normal really

You're not wrong there! I don't think he could get the right size either, the England shirt was exceedingly strained

Long trousers, shirt and tie is exactly what he was wearing just with a blazer on top.

Boys school uniforms (ties and shirts) are generally quite similar to suits anyway. All it is is a jacket on top.

diddl · 12/07/2021 14:16

I used to wear a shirt & tie to primary school in the 60s.

Uniforms have changed & it's probably much more usual for primary school uniform to be a polo shirt & no tie, but I doubt that shirt & tie is unheard of!

Roussette · 12/07/2021 14:16

OK. But no tie. No suit. Just saying... it's a fairly normal uniform for an expensive school.

Didn't realise George wasn't wearing a proper suit.

ineedaholidaynow · 12/07/2021 14:24

As a 52 year old accountant can I just say I don't dress like Prince George!

I know of state primary schools with shirt and tie uniform still.

Ed Sheehan sponsors a third tier club who have probably not won anything this century. So I can imagine he has not had to be smartly dressed for a football occasion for the club he supports.

True, when he goes to his club, but the mention on this thread was because posters had said about there being a dress code in the Royal box and they couldn't make an exception for Prince George BUT they DID make an exception for Ed Sheeran, in the Royal Box, at Wembley this week.

Roussette · 12/07/2021 14:47

I know??

Not saying there aren't!
But George's school it appears not. That's all

Sylvan92 · 12/07/2021 14:47

@DottyHarmer

Can we have an “I AM A MISERY” section of MN and every bitter and joyless f**r over there?

Sylvan92 · 12/07/2021 14:50

I teach dcs of Prince George’s face and when I saw how down he was at the end, I wondered if that was how they were all feeling at home too. It made me a little bit tears, on top of feeling gutted for Sancho, Saka and Rashford.

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 12/07/2021 14:58

Can't say I'm particularly keen on the earrings either. Although I do prefer nice dainty ones, so that's maybe why.

smilesy · 12/07/2021 15:08

But god, they are absolutely nothing close to a normal family life.
What is normal family life, though? There are many different types of family and all are normal to those who live in them. The Cambridges are a traditional nuclear family, which is often seen as “normal”whereas many families are no longer like this. I’m not sure we should be making sweeping generalisations about what is normal.

babbaloushka · 12/07/2021 15:28

@Geamhradh

Blimey, just seen the earrings. I'm not one to criticise Kate's choices, she usually looks impeccable but they look like something her 4 year old made at school and she wore them to please the child.
They're a cultural piece, as the poster explained...
Geamhradh · 12/07/2021 15:56

Yes, I read what the poster said.
I was commenting on their ugliness not their cultural heritage.
As pps have said, we're used to seeing Kate in something more discreet and classy.

ThreeLocusts · 12/07/2021 16:05

What I don't get is how it is meritorious for a wildly privileged family to manage to 'appear' normal. Plus, I don't think they did, as you OP said yourself that few boys George's age would get into Wembley w/out being princes.

I used to think the royal family were a harmless piece of folklore when I first moved to the UK (from a country w/out a monarchy). Over the years, as I realized that the British class system has teeth and perpetuates inequality, I've come to think of them as a real burden on British society.

They may be perfectly 'nice' people - I don't know and I don't care - but there's nothing nice about their functional position in British society.

Andylion · 12/07/2021 16:16

@starrynight21 that looks like a pic from Monty Python. 😳
