The royal family

To think Prince Harry should give up his titles?

Let’s face it, he has suffered immensely being born into the most famous and privileged family in the world. His titles were bestowed solely due to the family he was born into with the expectation that he would be a ‘working’ member of that family in return for the privilege and unfathomably (to us plebs) luxurious lifestyle he enjoyed (or not as he says now).

He has thankfully escaped his gilded cage and is no longer a working member of the family, in fact he has completely trashed that institution and in doing so also the Head of it, his Grandmother, the Queen while her husband of 73 years was ill in hospital and dying.

As he has suffered so much due to the public interest of his life (interest purely due to his title) by the public and the media so much, shouldn’t he just jack it all in and decree that he is no longer ‘Royal’ by giving up his titles and living quietly in the US with his family?

@Lilibet2022 but why don't people see through it. Did you get permission for your username?

randomkey123 · 22/06/2021 22:07

Yes he should give up his titles.

But he won't.

Roussette · 22/06/2021 22:09

He can't.
It takes an Act of Parliament

lastcall · 22/06/2021 22:10

Of course he should; he's the biggest hypocrite of them all, living off who is is due to his birth while pretending not to. But he won't. Not without a fight.

Proudboomer · 22/06/2021 22:11

He should remain princes as that is his birthright but he and she should give up the duke and duchess of Sussex title as that is not his by right but gifted when they were working royals.
Never going to happen thou as it would take an act of parliament or something to strip them away and he doesn’t seem to want to hand them back voluntarily.

Gawd not another thread from someone with WAY too much time on their hands. It’s surreal how many women are STILL invested in these two. Get. A. life. Please.

tillytoodles1 · 22/06/2021 22:12

@PotassiumChloride

Yes, he definitely should. He should also give up his first name and move to something more American and less royal - maybe Hank.
Isn't that what Megan calls him?
leli · 22/06/2021 22:13

Yes of course he should voluntarily give up his titles. Hypocrisy is awful. Andrew should be stripped of his.

But I'm not much of a royalist. Not a republican either. I think UK.com likes and benefits from the RF. Time for the Prince Charles slimmed down monarchy IMHO. Time to lose all the hangers on.

Proudboomer · 22/06/2021 22:13

No she calls him Haz. I think it is short fir hazbean

Port1aCastis · 22/06/2021 22:14

He was born a Prince he's the Queen's Grandson always will be nothing will change that!
gossip carping and bitching won't change it either

TheKeatingFive · 22/06/2021 22:15

he and she should give up the duke and duchess of Sussex title as that is not his by right but gifted when they were working royals.

But they’re aristo titles, not conditional on anything, gifted by the queen because she can.

They aren’t conditional on being a working royal. They aren’t even royal titles.

Harry, born into one kind of privalige I suppose but also born into family horror show! Has more than paid his dues for the accident of his birth.
He's had trauma after trauma in his short life and no amount of suckling on silver spoons make your heart heal when your mum died tragically and horrifically when your a small child.
Note today, more lurid details from her demise.

She gave them on his wedding day so sort of a wedding gift. They can’t be stripped without an act of parliament but if he thinks the royal family is so toxic why would be still want a title given by that family?

BastardMonkfish · 22/06/2021 22:18

@Lilibet2022

I think it's strange how Harry and Meghan get all the hate. There's literally a Prince who the FBI would like to talk to over the Epstein stuff who is yet to lose his title...
Everyone hates him too. Literally no one will defend him so it doesn't make for very interesting discussion. You're not going to get an 'AIBU to think we should see more of Prince Andrew' thread.
cheezy · 22/06/2021 22:18

I vote No.
Leave them be. They’re just people with faults and flaws trying to figure it out.

Bluntness100 · 22/06/2021 22:18

Yes I do think they should, but they won’t, though now the palace is fighting back and quietly correcting any shite they put out there, they will stop with the made up crap. So that’s something at least.

ICanSmellSummerComing · 22/06/2021 22:19

Gedid.. Very interesting comment maybe it's wills who needs to be nurtured though?

StoneofDestiny · 22/06/2021 22:19

They should all lose their titles.
Utter nonsense. The whole royalty pantomime needs consigned to the dustbin of history. The very idea that there is one family, through birth or marriage, that deserves being kept by the taxpayer in unbelievable luxury and bowed to by 'non royals' is cringeworthy. Hard to believe a 21st Century democracy thinks its supportable in any way.

PicsInRed · 22/06/2021 22:19

@TheKeatingFive

I’d be more interested in Andrew giving up his.
This.
Bluntness100 · 22/06/2021 22:19

This is not convincing. We all know how popular the designated H&M ‘hater’ threads were on here when they were allowed. You’d think Andrew would attract greater vitriol from those posters, but they couldn’t have cared less.
