Harry to sue BBC

I just read Harry is going to sue the BBC for announcing the Queen wasn't consulted over the name Lilibet. They said she was told of their plans . Maybe told isnt quite the same as consulted. When is this all going to end. Seems to be getting worse instead of improving.

This is just a clusterfuck in my opinion

It is but then again they told Oprah they wanted to put on a circus for the peasants. I don't think though that even they imagined one so splendid.

They said WHAT?! (I didn’t see the whole of the Oprah interview.)
CathyorClaire · 10/06/2021 21:24

They said WHAT?!

The multi-million pound tax payer funded wedding.

All for everyone else apparently because they'd had the real one three days before.

🥱🥱

As a poster above points out, he is the equivalent of Princess Margaret , we just won’t know that much about his kids in 20 years.
They will be living happily on the sidelines hopefully.

ShamedBySiri · 10/06/2021 21:33

TLDR so apologies if anyone else has posted it. But my jaw dropped when I read a short column in this week's Private Eye, page 26. Archewell website needs to come with a warning - it's really shocking.
They ask fans (who else would be doing this?) to post stories "How have you - or someone you know - actioned compassion in your community?".

Before you rush to post, be sure to read the small print in the Ts&Cs. Not only handing over all copyright etc to your story, but also liable to indemnify Archewell, agents, employees etc etc for any damages, costs, judgements and expenses incurred as a result of using your submission.

Maybe that's just LA lawyer speak for "Make sure your story is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth....or else"!

What was it Meghan said about life being all about stories? Confused

Harry to sue BBC

@CathyorClaire

I can only see one looking like a total plum at moment.

Well he's taken the spotlight off the venal Peter and Zara, yes.

Hang on, I thought pursuing whatever commercial opportunities they fancy/can find is exactly what Meghan and Harry are now free to do giving they have stepped back as senior royals. What’s the difference between that and being “venal” like their cousins who have always been in that position? Other than that Harry and Meghan also have titles they can exploit, which Peter and Zara don’t.
Skiptheheartsandflowers · 10/06/2021 21:42

Eek. As Private Eye say themselves, what could be more compassionate than that?

@Mummy194

H&M are not cancelled because most people have the view that if someone reports that they have been abused (either mentally, racially, sexually etc,) within their firm / family. Their first thought is not 'oh now, they are smearing the head of the family/firm' / 'they are playing victim'.

What most people are concerned about is that this will change and that future generations do not get the same treatment.

Change so much and so quickly that they name their DD after the head of this abusive firm/family.

Can't see how that can be much fun after a while. As it is there is going to be a Prince and Princess brought up in America with little knowledge of royal tradition or their royal relatives. I cant see how that will work out for anybody least of all the children themselves.

I think that Meghan genuinely doesn't give a shit about the Royals anymore. She has no intention of returning, and having two young children is a good excuse. The name Lilibet was possibly more of a political/social statement rather than a sentimental tribute, hence why the permission aspect was so hazy. The fact that a mixed race child carries the most intimate pet name of the Queen of England is probably a statement that MM wanted to make.

Meghan seems right in her element in LA and has everything in place to give herself, Archie and Lili a great future. This is probably everything she dreamed of during her years as an actress and now she's finally manifested it. Harry is becoming a real loose cannon and liability though. He's clearly not happy and the stress of a new baby is not going to help that at all. The most likely scenario is that MM is going to build her empire in the US (Oprah, politics, showbiz, kids) and Harry may or may not be part of it.

smilesy · 10/06/2021 22:27

Wow. I just googled Archewell t&c’s and it takes you to the page on their website where these are listed. Are these normal t&c’s for this type of website? It’s like signing your life away 😲

I was just wondering whether they were standard, but I couldn’t think of a similar type of website asking for similar kinds of submissions to compare with.
aloris · 10/06/2021 22:53

Actually I have not seen T&C like that before and it changes my opinion of them for the worse.

My dh has no interest in the RF at all, apart from thinking the Queen is a sweet old lady. He never comments on anything but when the baby name story came on the news, he said ‘I reckon it was her plan all along to go back to Hollywood and milk her royal connections’. I know a lot of people think that but I can’t imagine being so ruthless or cynical. I can completely relate to feeling better and more relaxed when you return to your home country as I’ve been in that position but could she really have had that in mind from the very beginning?!
PrimulaPrimrose · 10/06/2021 23:11

If you tell them your story can you not then publish it say even via a personal blog?

Viviennemary · 10/06/2021 23:15

Nope. They might sue you for breach of copyright. And if anybody sues them you have to pay their costs. Nice work if you can get it. Get writing. Confused

No intention of returning? She barely made it to Blighty. Was she ever settled here? She never got the time or effort to understand what it is all about this country.

I don’t think she was ever staying in the U.K. Her team of agents and advisors in LA were still working for her, she kept her team intact.
Harry probably saw an escape and planned this from the start of their relationship. l mean who wouldn’t choose Malibu ( where they looked at houses first but couldn’t afford ,) or Montecito over Berkshire.
We won’t know very much about them in a few years, the novelty will wear off. That’s why they are going guns blazing at wealth creation right now, they know they have a shelf life, a finite time to cash in. They are being advised well.
